Bonnie Jean Phillips Bowen
August 23, 2004
Bonnie Jean Phillips Bowen, 72, died on August 14, 2004 in Tyler. She was born on April 16, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She lived in many places but has lived in the Tyler/Lake Palestine area for over 12 years. She has been a loving and caring wife, mother and friend to many people. She helped many of her friends set and obtain their goals in life. Her giving spirit always showed as she gave of her self, not only to her family and friends but to total strangers.
She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many capacities. She was a wonderful teacher, relief society and primary president, organist and her great love, genealogy. She collected over 15,000 names and even traced one of her own family lines back to Adam.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Paget.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard A. Bowen of Flint; son, Jon Paget and wife, Becky of Marietta, GA; daughter, Wendy Kethan and husband, James (Jimbo) of Woodville; daughter-in-law, Pascale Paget, wife of the late Robert Paget of Maple Valley, WA; brother, LaMar Phillips and wife, Dorothy of Glenwood, UT; sister, Jo Ann Peterson and husband, Ronald of Hector, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with one great, great grandchild due in October.
Memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tyler. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Woodville. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jon Paget, Jared Paget, James (Jimbo) Kethan, Sammy Reynolds, Timothy Durr, and Tolly Lovelace. Honorary pallbearers include all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
If desired, memorial can be made to Hospice of Deep East  Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Tx. 75701.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Lisa Ann Vinson Blevins and Caleb Scott Blevins
August 23, 2004
Lisa Ann Vinson Blevins, 36, and Caleb Scott Blevins, 5, both of Barnum passed away due to injuries received in an auto accident August 10, 2004.
Lisa was born August 16, 1967 in Hemphill and moved to Chester at a young age where she spent most of her life. She later moved to Connecticut and lived there several years before returning to this area. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Blevins of Barnum; father and step mother, Leo and Barbara Vinson of Barnum; mother and step father, Barbara and Don Baird of Colmesneil; sons, Tyler Blevins of Barnum, Ronnie Knox of Livingston and John Knox of Connecticut; sisters, Benita Citrano and husband, Anthony, Pam Loftin, Jeannie  Johnson and husband Dennis all of Chester, Chyrl Pounds and husband, Todd of Woodville, Tisha Martin and husband, Tom of Lake  Jackson and Amiee Burks and husband, Kevin of Corrigan; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Caleb was born March 26, 1999 in Connecticut and lived a short while in Barnum with his family. Caleb was a Kindergartner at Chester Elementary.
He is survived by his father, Stephen Blevins of Barnum; grandparents, Leo and Barbara Vinson of Barnum, Barbara and Don Baird of Colmesneil, Wayne Blevins and Dianna Moore both of  Louisiana; brothers, Tyler Blevins of Barnum, Ronnie Knox of Livingston and John Knox of Connecticut; aunts and uncles, Stephanie and Dain Simmons of LA., Benita and Anthony Citrano, Pam Loftin, Jeannie and Dennis  Johnson all of Chester, Chyrl and Todd Pounds of Woodville, Tisha and Tom Martin of Lake  Jackson and Amiee and Kevin Burks of Corrigan and numerous cousins.
Funeral services for Lisa and Caleb were held Friday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Trest and Brother Tony Pangle officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery in Barnum. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Luke Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Jason Citrano, John Knox II, Ronnie Knox and Branden Barnidge. Honorary pallbearers were Alex Johnson, Chris Citrano, S. K. Burks, Lance Loftin, Zach Pounds, Elizabeth Pounds, Curtis Lacombe, Dana Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Dainey Simmons, Derek Citrano, Hunter Johnson, Becki Loftin and David Simmons.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

James C. ‘Pappy’ McCullor
August 23, 2004
James C. “Pappy” McCullor, 87, of Warren passed away August 15, 2004.
Born August 4, 1917 in Pleasant Hill, LA. to William Clifford and Callie McCullor he lived in Warren for the last 16 years. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel and Local 195 and was a 50 year member of Pipefitters Local 195. He was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church and a WWII Veteran. Pappy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He loved his family dearly.
Funeral services was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Fosburgh and Rev. Russ Munch officiating with burial following at Warren City Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday from 5 till 8 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Margaret McCullor.
He is survived by his daughter Lily Walters and husband Ed of Warren; son Tommy McCullor and wife Pat of Lumberton; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Wayne Tarpley of Converse, La.; sister-in-laws, Treva McCullor of Converse, La. and Nonie Best of Keithville, LA.; brother-in-law, Walker Sistrunk of Nederland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Flora Sistrunk of College Station; three grandchildren, grandson Dean Walters and wife Polly of Warren, granddaughters, Stephanie Wilson of Warren and Tanya McCullor Vidor; five great grandchildren Chelsea, Josie and Mallory Walters of Warren, Sloan and Sierra Wilson of Warren; 4 step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, and numerous niece and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mary Cogar, Jean Lamar, and Jerlean Foster for the excellent love, care and support they gave to our father. Also a special thank you to Lakes Area Hospice for all the care and support to the family and our father.
In lieu of flowers a memorial can be given to Warren United Methodist Church in Warren.
Serving as pallbearers were Pete Sistrunk, Jackie Sistrunk, Thomas Ray Sistrunk, Kenneth Sistrunk, Fred Remkema and Kenneth Tattillo.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Cassandra Lea Hanna Humble
August 23, 2004
Cassandra Lea Hanna Humble, 35, of Woodville, passed away Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Born October 10, 1968 in Beaumont to Elmer and Joyce Trahan Hanna, she lived in Tyler County all of her life. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Autumn Humble of Warren; three sons, Colton W. Humble of Woodville, Lee Humble and Caleb Humble both of Warren; parents, Elmer L. and Joyce Hanna of Woodville; sister, Michelle Hanna of Woodville; two brothers, Clyde Hanna of Bowie and Lew Hanna both of Woodville; numerous nieces, nephews and in laws.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville, with burial to follow at Kirkland Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clyde Hanna, Lew Hanna, Michael Hanna, David Humble, Billy Humble and Jimmy McKnight.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the First National Bank, Humble Children Fund ACC# 481465.
Services entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Chester J. Cartwright
August 23, 2004
Chester J. Cartwright, 77, of Woodville passed away on Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Campground Cemetery near Woodville.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Chester was born September 5, 1926 to L. C. “Buck” and Emma Carver Cartwright in Foreman, Arkansas. He was a longtime resident of Woodville and retired owner/operator of Cartwright Food Town. He was a member of the Woodville Magnolia Masonic Lodge #495 and charter member of Cupertino Masonic Lodge in Cupertino, CA. He was also a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Callan Cartwright on January 9, 2001. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, C. W. “Skeets” and Lois Cartwright of Kingwood; sisters, Christine Moore and Jo Ann Hooper both of Foreman, AR; brother-in-law, Charles Callan of Eagle Springs, OR; sisters-in-law, Maria Cartwright Garner of Arlington and Delores Payne of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Elizabeth Black
August 17, 2004
Elizabeth Black, 95, of Woodville, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10 at 10 a.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. Officiating was Dr. Dwayne Freese.
Visitation was held Monday, August 9 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born August 21, 1908 to Homer and Minnie Rozalia Fountain Hodnett in Jacksonville. She grew up in Village Mills and had graduated from Kirby High in Woodville. She also attended Kidd Key School in Sherman. She was a former longtime resident of  Jefferson County and had lived in Woodville since 1975 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Emmett S. Black in 1990. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Homer and Dianne Black of Houston; and grandchildren, Heather Black and Derek Black both of Houston.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Brenda Moore
August 17, 2004
Brenda Moore, 50, of Woodville, passed away August 2, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Alexandria, LA. A native of Shreveport, and former resident of Burkeville, she had lived in Tyler County’s Dam-B community for 12 years. Brenda was a graduate of Lafayette High School, she later received her Bachelors Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Masters Degree from Colorado State University.
Private services were held last week, public services will be announced at a later date.
Survivors include her mother, Juanita Protz of Dam-B; son, Jason Smithson of Town Bluff; brothers, Richard Protz of Baton Rouge, Robert Protz of Dam-B, and James Protz of Harbor Point; along with 2 sisters, Debrah Helfrich of Oregon and Carla Bergeron of Baton Rouge.
Services were under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.

Shirley Allison
September 13, 2004
Shirley Allison, 69, of Richwood passed away August 30, 2004 at Village on the Creek Nursing Home.
Shirley was born in Elm Springs, Arkansas on June 5, 1935 but spent most of her younger years in California where she met her husband, Eddie Powers Allison. The young couple married on Oct. 23, 1953 and moved to Clute to begin a family. Besides being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she worked at G. I. S. D. as a bus monitor with the mentally challenged children. Shirley also enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing homes and was a dedicated member of the Lake  Jackson Church of Christ.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Eddie Powers Allison and her son, Darrell Wayne Allison and her parents, Elmer and Rena Smith.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela A. Warren; son, Larry D. Allison and wife, Alisa; granddaughters, Allison and Melissa Warren and Abigail Allison; grandsons, Mark, Garrett, and Josh Allison; sister, Sara Evan Yardley and husband, Wilson Yardley.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Lakewood Funeral Home with Chris Workman of the Lake  Jackson Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be held at 4 p.m. at Allison Cemetery in Warren.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Mitchell Reid Jackson
September 13, 2004
Mitchell Reid Jackson, 19, of Houston, died Thursday, August 26, 2004. Mitchell was born in Houston on Aug. 29, 1984 to Dale  Jackson and Joanna Doedyns Jackson. He graduated from Westside High School in 2003 where he played Rugby, and he attended Harris County Community College. Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother, Joanna  Jackson on September 15, 1998. He was a member of Ashford United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his father, Dale Jackson; his maternal grandmother, Doris Doedyns; his paternal grandmother, Louise  Jackson Baker; two sisters, Anna  Jackson and Leah Jackson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 29, at Forest park Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30 at Ashford United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Ernest Turney officiating. Interment followed at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the College Fund for his sister Anna, c/o  Texas State Bank of Bishop,  Texas, Joanna Doedyns  Jackson Memorial Fund, 361-584-3531.

David Pope Enloe
September 13, 2004
David Pope Enloe, 78, of Woodville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville. Officiating was Rev. Donald Hensarling.
Visitation was held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
David was born Dec. 20, 1925 to Guy and Georgia Williams Enloe in Beaumont. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from  Texas A & M and served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was employed for many years by the  Jefferson Chemical Company and later by Tenneco. He lived in Woodville for the past 20 years and retired as the Veteran’s Service Officer for Tyler County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Georgia Enloe and his brother, Paul Terence Enloe. He is survived by his wife, Verine Enloe of Woodville; sister-in-law, Jane Enloe of Tyler; niece and her husband, Molly and Paul Higgins and their daughter, Hannah of Ft. Worth; nephews and their wives and children, John and Darlene Enloe, Terence, Meredith and Elizabeth of Tyler; and Dave and Leslie Enloe, Tyler and Michael of Houston.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
