Elizabeth Virginia Hartman Miller

Elizabeth Virginia Hartman Miller, was born October 27, 1948 at Fort Smith, Arkansas and passed away October 7, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin,  Texas.
Elizabeth was born into a regular Army family, so at a young age, she lived in Japan, later in France and Germany. She graduated High School in Fayetteville North Carolina in 1966.
Elizabeth married John L. Miller in Fayetteville, N.C. in 1966. She had one daughter from this marriage, Sarah Dianne Miller. Later in life she worked as a tutor for families in New York and  Louisiana. In recent years, she was home schooling her three grandsons.
She is survived by her parents, Neal and Virginia Hartman of Chester; brother, Neal Hartman, Jr. and wife, Theresa of Virginia; daughter, Sarah Stewart and husband, Elvin of Corrigan; three grandsons, Charles Mathew Miller, Johnathan Ryan Miller and Justin Dean Kessinger all of Corrigan; nephew and nieces, Joe, Natalia and Rachel Hartman of Virginia; and a host of cousins and other family scattered world wide.
Funeral service was held Monday, October 11, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Woodville with Rev. Wayne Havard officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery near Chester.
Serving as Pallbearers were Elvin Grady Stewart, Jr., Joseph Mezger, John Homan, Geanie Homan, Michael Dunn, Timmy Stewart, Jeffery Stewart, Sheldon Delafondro, Johnathon Miller, Matthew Miller and Steve Parker.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Earl Barlow
October 18, 2004
Earl Barlow Sr. 57, of Doucette,  Texas died Sunday October 10, 2004 at John Sealy UTMB Galveston. Services will be Saturday October 16, 2004 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 12:00 Noon in Wood-ville,  Texas with burial at the Moss Hill Community Cemetery in Woodville,  Texas.
He was a native of Doucette and was em-ployed in the logging industry.
He leaves to cherish his memories; wife, Dorothy Faye Barlow of Doucette, daughter Brittany Robinson of Woodville, sons Earl Barlow Jr. of Doucette, and Cardrick Abrams of Woodville; Sisters Louise Hanchett and Annie Lee Nichols, both of Pt. Arthur, Tx.; Brother Bryant Barlow Jr. of Lufkin, Tx.; Grandchild Jarvis D. Barlow of Doucette.
Under the direction of Coleman’s Tyler County Funeral Home, Woodville.

John Tom Spears
October 18, 2004
John Tom Spears, 85 of Woodville,  Texas died Sunday October 10, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. Services will be on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Woodville, with burial at the Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Colmesneil, Tx. Visitation will be on Friday at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Woodville from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
He was a native of Colmesneil and was a retired sawmill employee.
He leaves to cherish his memories; Daughters Johnny Faye Wade, Betty Jo Smith and Carolyn Jones, all of Woodville; Mary Lu Grand of Dallas; Sons James Earl Smith, Wilma Ray (Banker Boy) Smith, Donnie Spears, and Roy Gene Spears; Sisters Ethel Hamilton of Woodville; Brother Clarence Cruse of Doucette; 37 Grandchildren, 60 Great grandchildren, 11 Great great grandchildren. Under the direction of Coleman’s Tyler County Funeral Home in Woodville.

April Hadnot Lacy
October 18, 2004
April S. Hadnot Lacy, 25, of Woodville, Tx. died Friday, October 8, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Tx. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the New Shady Grove Baptist Church in Woodville, with burial at the Moss Hill Community Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by her husband Dante’ Lacy of Woodville, daughter Dylliaunna Malia Lacy, son Dillion D. Lacy of Wood-ville; mother Erma Hadnot, sister Valerie Hadnot Rawls, brother Charles Hadnot, all of Woodville; brother Robert Hadnot of Beaumont, Tx. Services under the direction of Coleman’s Tyler County Funeral Home.

Donna Sands Bennett
January 5, 2004
Donna Sands Bennett, 87, of Spring passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 in Spring.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville. Officiating was Reverend Wayne Havard.
Donna was born July 2, 1917 to Robert and Stella Anne Fildes Sands in Winter Haven, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in music and took further studies in piano at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Clyde Bennett and moved to Houston, where Clyde played 1st bassoon with the Houston Symphony. Donna taught music theory and history at the Southern College of Fine Arts, accompanied the Houston Chorus and Ballet classes for a prominent dance teacher and gave private lessons and played for weddings and funerals. Clyde became an ordained minister and they helped organize two churches in the Houston suburbs. In 1973 they moved to Woodville, where he pastored the First Christian Church. Donna has played piano and organ in several churches for about 60 years. She always enjoyed being active in many civic and social organization in the Woodville area.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Clyde A. Bennett on Oct. 14, 2000. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cathy Bennett of Miami, FL and Chris and Joyce Bennett of Houston; grandchildren and spouses, Laura and Van Brackin, Jennifer Greenwell and Emileano Nunez, Enrique Greenwell, Jordan and Carin Bennett, Brent Bennett and Miranda Bennett; great grandchildren, Jordan Bennett, Aidan Bennett, Conner Brackin and soon to arrive Kayleigh Brackin.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, P. O. Box 537, Woodville, TX. 75979.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.

Breastfield (Sonny) Dearmon, Jr.
January 5, 2004
Breastfield (Sonny) Dearmon, Jr., 51, passed away Dec. 19, 2004.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Woodville. Officiating was Rev. Dr. Charles Hood Hr. and Rev. Cloyd Hadnot. Burial followed at Dies Community Cemetery.
Sonny was born Jan. 20, 1953 to the late Rev. Breastfield Dearmon, Sr. and Mrs. Audrey Faye Mark in Lufkin. He joined the Pine Grove Baptist Church under the late Rev. M. Fraizer and was baptized at an early age. He attended Scott High School in Woodville. He resided in Beaumont and became a member of the Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Dr. Charles Hood, Jr. was pastor.
He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Pauline Dearmon; stepmother, Mrs. Earlene Dearmon of Woodville; son, Sonny King of Victoria; stepsons, Brandon Carry, Joe Carry, Jr. both of Beaumont; daughters, Sonya Hackman of Killeen, Katrina Dearmon of Nacogdoches, Erica Broussard of Lufkin, LaToya Huff of New Willard and Ashley Thomas of Beaumont; stepdaughters, Lotory Carry of Beaumont, Dikidre Carry of Nacogdoches; sisters, Dannie Nolen, Daisy Pickett, Tina Hood all of Beaumont, Elizabeth Dearmon of San Diego, CA; brothers, Willie Dearmon of Dallas, Joe Dearmon of Alexandria, VA, Gary Dearmon of Houston, Mark Dearmon of Jasper, Johnny Hackney of Tyler, Gregory Mark of Lufkin; 13 grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relative and friends.
Pallbearers were Ricky Nolen, Al Nolen, Shedric Nolen, Bruce Jubert, Brandon Carry and Perry Pickett, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were his brothers.
Services were entrusted to Calvary Mortuary of Beaumont.

Phillip Eugene Powell
January 5, 2004
Phillip Powell, 68, passed away Dec. 24, 2004 at his residence.
Born Nov. 14, 1936 in Muncie, Idaho to Jim Powell and Hester Elizabeth McShan, he was raised in Chester. He was a retired mudd engineer in the oil industry and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife Roberta Hiroms Powell of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rebecca Powell of Zavalla; sisters, Phyllis Gulley of Zavalla, Wilma Lee Goolsby of Shepherd, Mary Ann Herderson, Joan Herrington and Vicki Coleman all of Longview; five grandchildren, Aneshia, Ashton, Kyla, Creed and Xavix.
Pallbearers were Stephen E. Henderson, Stephen R. Clowers, Curtis McKee, Rhett Herring, Brad Weaver and Larry Townsend.
Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother I. W. Ferguson officiating. Burial followed at Guedry Cemetery in Batson. Visitation was held Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Vernon Tarver
January 5, 2004
Vernon Tarver, 65, passed away Dec. 23, 2004 at his residence in Colmesneil.
Born August 10, 1939 in Picayune, Mississippi to V. L. Tarver and Verna Seals, he lived in Tyler County 28 years. He was a mechanic for Knapp Ford and Colmesneil I.S.D. and was a member of Woodville United Pentecostal Church in Woodville.
He is survived by his wife Clarice Thornton Tarver of Colmesneil; son, Joe Dickerson of Colmesneil; daughters, Carolyn Rolison of Colmesneil, Rhonda Parker of Groveton, Linda Wittck of Baytown, Janet Primrose of Jasper and Verna Fay Quick of Colmesneil; brothers, Curtis Tarver, Howard Tarver, Chester Tarver; and sister, Beverly Bodeaux.
Pallbearers were Jack McCarty, Cody Crews, Terry Rolison, Bruce Edward Huddleston, Bryan Dubose and Cecil Wade.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother Paul Jacks officiating. Burial followed at Colmesneil City Cemetery in Colmesneil. Visitation was held Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Wayne M. Herndon
January 5, 2004
Wayne M. Herndon, 87, of Doucette passed away Dec. 22, 2004 at the Tyler County Hospital.
Born Dec. 21, 1917 in Emilee to Richard and Coca Bell Wise Herndon. He lived in Tyler County all of his life. He was a self employed electrician and a member of the Woodville Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Hawthorn Herndon; son, John Herndon and wife, Rebecca of Sugarland; daughter, Bobbie Herndon Hilliard and husband, Charles of Huntsville; granddaughter, Michelle Bullard and husband Scott of New Waverly; great grandchildren, Cassidy and Kendall of New Waverly; nephew, Brady Durham and wife, Flora Nell of Colmesneil; nieces, Arvy Jean Cox of Corrigan, Lula Bell Dickinson and husband, Neil of Arlington.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial at Egypt Cemetery near Colmesneil. Visitation was held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Duane Turner, Norman Turner, Roger Russell, Allen Read, James Kimbrell and Ray Russell.
Services were entrusted to Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

John Allen Jackson
December 28, 2004
CORRIGAN – Funeral services for John Allen Jackson, 62, of Woodville were held Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in the Livingston First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Thomas A. Kennedy, Dr. Keith Whitaker and the Rev. Audrey Mitchell officiating. Interment fol-lowed in Shiloh Cemetery in Mos-cow.
Mr.  Jackson was born April 15, 1942 in Camden and died Saturday, Dec. 18, in Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
He was a minister in the United Methodist Minister Livingston Cir-cuit (Pleasant Hill and St. Luke UMC), and worked for Thomas Supply. He attended public schools in Moscow and Chester and Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Sandra  Jackson of Woodville; step-daughters and stepsons-in-law, Shana and Anthony Burrell of Garland and Deidra Smith and Byron Rue of Dallas; mother, Wil-lie Darden  Johnson of Woodville; former wife, Martha Jackson; daughters, Bridgette Rawls, Opal Watson and Barbette Jackson, all of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawson Jackson, Jonathan and Monique of Humble and Aaron and Tina  Jackson of Humble; former wife, Estella Moye; daughter and son-in-law, Shunita and Rick Moye of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, John and Tracey Moye of Garland; stepdaughters and stepson-in-law, Frankie Pilgrim of Houston and Tina and Carl Black of Garland; brother, Lonnie Johnson; special cousin, Robert Williams and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Pallbearers were Otis Wright Sr., L.C. Randolph, Luby Garrett, B.C. Harrell, Richard Randolph and Layfate Griffin. Honorary pallbear-ers were Johnnie Simmons, Titus Simmons, James McGowen, Frank Harrell, Wilford Jackson, James Walker, Earl Harrell and Kenneth Edward McGowen.
Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jim Sullivan
December 28, 2004
Funeral services for Jim Sullivan, 81, of Huntington were held Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 at 4 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend Carl Ray Walker officiating. Interment followed at Carrell Cemetery.
Mr. Sullivan was born March 16, 1923 in Huntington to Robert Lee and Stella (Wideman) Sullivan and died Wednesday, Dec. 15 at his residence.
Mr. Sullivan resided in Huntington for most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and had worked as a logger for Dee Hannah Co. Mr. Sullivan was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Jennifer Sullivan of Huntington and Jesse Jim and Lynn Sullivan of Dam-B; son, Johnny Lee Sullivan of Doucette; brother, Joe Sullivan of Lufkin; grandchildren, Wayne, Jimmy, Gina, Donna Jean, John, Hope, Jim Edward, Joe, Justice, Allie and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Casey, Clara, James, Lillie, Shelby, Destiny, Charity, Taylor, Junior, Brianna, Celeste and Alden. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janie Henderson; seven sisters; and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Louie Sullivan, Author Taylor, Jerry Bradshaw, Wayne Kimball, Glenn Sullivan and Clark Sullivan.
Honorary pallbearers were John Henderson, Joe Henderson and Jim Edward Sullivan.
The family received friends from 5 - 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
