Waters
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date for Mae Waters, a resident of Livingston for the past 18 years and a former resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She was born March 14, 1925 in Norman,  Oklahoma, the daughter of Price and Daisy Smith. She married in 1960 in Albuquerque. She had been employed with Albuquerque Public Schools. Mrs. Waters was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She died September 18, 2003, in Livingston Convalescent Center.
Survivors include her husband, J. Pat Waters of Livingston; daughters, Dale Collier of Livingston and Priscilla Gilberto of Denver, Colorado; and brother, Dr. Jack Smith of Norman,  Oklahoma.
For the past two years she had suffered bravely through a terminal illness. Per her wishes, her body has been willed to science.

Malone
Funeral services for Ryan Neal Malone, 23, of Bryan, were held at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, Onalaska, with Father Dean Wilhelm and Father Mike Barone officiating. Burial followed in Madisonville City Cemetery in Madisonville.
He was born on August 29, 1980 in Huntsville, the son of W.R. and Blanche Malone. he was interested in art, poetry, drawing, painting and composing poetry. During his school years he won awards for his art work. He enrolled in RCIA at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station.
Survivors include his father, W.R. Malone of Madisonville; mother, Blanche Richard of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Johnny Malone of Willis and Nicholas Malone of Houston; sister, Erin Evans of Woodville; nieces and nephews, Lauren Malone, Liam Malone and Alex Malone; grandparent, Catherine Kerwin; aunts and uncles, Charles Lee Pourciau, Joseph Pourciau, Gene Pourciau, Caroline Narramore and Margaret Deattie; and numerous cousins and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Carlson, Travis Hatfield, Matt Oliver, Cody Hill, Jim Tullos and Brad Evans.
Cochran Funeral Home, Onalaska, was in charge of arrangements.

Peebles
Graveside services for Sime Wiley Peebles Jr. 73, of Livingston, were conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from Forest Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Tom Kennedy officiating.
He was born September 9, 1930 in Orange, the son of Sime and Juanita Sprott Peebles Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Orange High School and received a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of  Texas in 1952. After the death of his father, he and his mother moved to Livingston in 1967 to be close to family and friends. "Buddy", as everyone knew him, enjoyed growing roses and visiting with neighbors. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Livingston.
Mr. Peebles died Monday, September 29, in Livingston.
Survivors include his aunt, Clara Peebles of Nacogdoches; cousins, A.W.  Jones of Livingston, Norman Sprott of Austin, Phillip Peebles and Jack Peebles, both of Nacogdoches, Patricia and husband, Jay Snook, of Livingston, Kevin Snook of College Station, Wendy and husband, Mack Ross, Cody Ross and  Taylor Ross, all of Livingston; and numerous other cousins.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Ritchie
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 1, 2003 for Louise Agnes Ritchie, 96, of Livingston, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
She was born July 31, 1907 in Houma,  Louisiana, the daughter of Ernest and Rosalee Hebert Barrileaux. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Livingston.
Mrs. Ritchie died Sunday, September 28, in Memorial Medical Center, Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard; her parents; sisters, Emma Garney and Marie Plasiance; and grandson, Steve Smith.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Andrew Vance of Livingston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Minus and Blanch Barrilleaux of Tibodeaux,  Louisiana and Roland and Edwina Barrilleaux of Merriro,  Louisiana; granddaughter, Margie Gonzalez of Livingston; great-grandchildren, Michael Smith and Robert Smith; great-great grandchildren Robin Smith, Justin Smith, Kaitlyn Smith and  Taylor Smith; and great-great-great grandchildren, Christopher Dinkins and Alicia Dinkins.
Pallbearers were Michael Smith, Robert Smith, Justin Smith, Andy Vance, Andy Vance Jr., and Shorty Gonzalez.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Gibson
Funeral services for Arlyne G. Gibson, 82, of Livingston, were held Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, with the Rev. Mary Shivers officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
She was born December 29, 1920 in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Strebel. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Livingston.
Mrs. Gibson died Thursday, September 25, in Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Gibson; and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Robert Gibson of Livingston; grandson, Rex Findley of Livingston; five great-grandchildren; and close friends, Mary Lang of Greensboro, Kentucky, Margot Dorwin of Livingston, Ann Stewart of Boise, Idaho, Aggie Huskins of Onalaska and Opal Davenport of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Pallbearers were Mac Macaulay, Bill Huskins, Jack Dorwin, Paul Boudreaux, Ray Manasco and Rex Findley.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Luckey
Funeral services for Myra Crawford Luckey, 89, of Livingston, were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Pace Funeral Home with Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating. Interment followed at Center Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Luckey was born on July 7, 1914 in the Hortense community, the daughter of Thomas  Jefferson Kerr and Vashta Victoria Runnels Kerr. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Winnie Street Baptist Church.
She died Monday, September 29, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center in Livingston. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Morris Eugene Crawford in October 1989 and by her second husband, Edward Luckey in 1995. A son, Eugene Crawford, also preceded her on death on February 12, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Imogene Lollar and husband, R.B., of Goodrich; a daughter-in-law, Nina Jo Crawford Duff of Livingston; five grandchildren, Guynne' Dillon and husband, Kenneth Ray, of Livingston, Tammy Knighton and husband, David, of College Station, Daniel Lollar and wife, Rebecca, of Goodrich, Michael Eugene Crawford and wife, Susan, of Livingston and Terri Jo Dotson, also of Livingston; nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included David Knighton, Jeremy Knighton, Joshua Knighton, Kenneth Dillon, Isaac Crawford and Danny Lollar.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Tallant
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel for Weldon Tallant, 78, of Livingston, with the Revs. Rex Hendrix and Ken Grant conducting the services. Burial followed in Big Sandy Cemetery in Polk County.
He was born September 6, 1925 in Jayton, the son of David and Ida Tallant. He was a member of University Baptist Church in Abilene, Trinity Lodge No. 14 AF&AM and The Scottish Rite.
Mr. Tallant died Thursday, September 25, 2003 in Baytown. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Tallant; two brothers, Jum and Millard Tallant; and sister, Sissie Spiker.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wilma Tallant of Livingston; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Anna Kay Tallant and Ray and Tammy Tallant, all of Baytown; grandchildren and spouses, Renee and Larry Mullen of Houston, Jason and Karen Tallant of Baytown, Ash and Denise Tallant and Andy Tallant of Baytown and Kevin Miller of The Woodlands; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Mullen of Houston and Chase Weldon Tallant and Coltyn Ray Tallant of Baytown; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Nancy Tallant of Abilene; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Melba and L.E. "Doc" Malone of Midland and Patricia and Kenneth Mead of Beaumont; and sister-in-law, Helen Tallant of Odessa.
Pallbearers were Mark Duff, Tommy Slack, Clayton Lilley, Gerald Humble, Clint Davis and John DeLoach. Honorary pallbearers were members of Trinity Lodge No. 14.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Wright
Graveside services for Lollie Helen Wright, 70, of Soda, were held Friday, September 26, 2003, from Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, with Ed Smith officiating.
She was born March 21, 1933 in Polk County, the daughter of Veron and Esther Abernathy Poe, both of whom preceded her in death. She married David Wright on May 28, 1978 in Palacios.
She died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston.
Survivors include her husband, David Wright of Soda; son, David Wright II of Soda; son and daughter-in-law, Mickey Dean and Nita Howell of Livingston; four grandchildren and a lot of friends.
Pallbearers were David Wright II, Mark Woolf, Jerry Davis, Jimmy Young, Jerred Gilmore and Mickey Howell.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Arnold
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Pace Funeral Home for Linda Sue Arnold, 39, of Livingston, with Rev. Hugh Bradley officiating. Interment followed in Camp Ruby Cemetery.
She was born June 21, 1964 in Beaumont, the daughter of Shirll and Elizabeth Asher Phillips. She had been a Livingston area residence for 20 years. Mrs. Arnold died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 in Onalaska.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee of Livingston; three sons, Jimmy Arnold and wife, Shelly, of Cleveland, Charles and John Arnold, both of Livingston; five brothers, Charles Ray  White of Baytown, Terry Lee Phillips of  Louisiana, Robert Lloyd Phillips and Robert Allen Phillips, both of Houston and Shirll Ray Phillips Jr. of Shepherd; and two grandchildren, Destiny and Shelby Arnold.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Heard
Funeral services for Debbie Charrier Heard, a resident of Cleveland, were held in Cleveland on Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Highway Tabernacle. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.
She was born on July 24, 1956 in Houston, the daughter of Lawrence and Lucy Charrier. She moved from Houston in 1970 to Onalaska, where she worked in the Dairy Mart. She was a 1974 graduate of Livingston High School and a member of the Lions Pride Drill Team. She married her husband, James D. Heard, in October of 1975 and to that union two children were born, Stephanie L. Heard Vandver and James D. Heard Jr., all of whom survive her.
She is also survived by a son-in-law, James "Pete" Vandver; two granddaughters, Paige Elizabeth Heard and Madeline Marie Vandver; and sisters, Sheryl Vaughn of Onalaska, Carolyn Deathrage of Houston and Donna Longino of Goodrich.
Mrs. Heard had dreamed of becoming a nurse for many years and after her children finished high school she began the nursing program at Kingwood College. Upon graduation she worked at Galaxy Manor in Cleveland and Pine Ridge in Livingston. She reluctantly gave up nursing due to her failing health. Upon learning that her time here was growing short, she expressed a desire to see her husband to see Mt. Rushmore and Colorado. They had just returned from that tip on Sunday before she was admitted to the hospital one final time on Monday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lucy Charrier; and one sister, Patricia A. Hensley.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Shapley
Graveside services were held Friday, September 26, 2003, at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake  Jackson for Jack Lowell Shapley, 59, of New Caney.
Mr. Shapley, a Livingston resident for six months, was born On January 23, 1944 in Shattuck,  Oklahoma, the son of Roger and Bernice Bennett Shapley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed in sales in the heating and plumbing business. He was a Baptist and had previously lived in New Caney for the past 30 years.
Mr. Shapley died Tuesday, September September 25, 2003. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard R. Shapley.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice Todd of Livingston; son, Lowell Shapley of Durango, Colorado; daughter, Marilyn Ball of Pampa; brothers, Gary J. Todd of Angleton and Doyle Todd of Colorado; sisters, Nelda Shanks of Livingston, Gwen Wilson of Spring, Martha Blackerby of Cleveland and Doylene Allen of Liberty; and two grandchildren.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Conklin
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. for Theresa Grace Conklin, 40, of Ace, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Ramey officiating.
She was born August 26, 1963 in New Orleans,  Louisiana, the daughter of William J. and Monika  Schmidt Garmong.
Mrs. Conklin died Friday, September 5, in San Jacinto County. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Conklin of Ace; mother, Monika Garmong of Ace; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Angie Garmong of Splendora; sister and brother-in-law, Amelia Miller and Stephen Sheffy of Ace; brother, Chris Garmong of Splendora; nieces, Tesla Garmong, Brittany Garmong, Angela Garmong and Hannah Garmong, all of Splendora and Amber Sheffy and Caitlin Sheffy, both of Ace; nephews, Blaine Garmong of Splendora, Daniel Lee Garmong and Jeremy Allen Garmong, both of Watertown, Wisconsin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
