Gallaway
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, October 16, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home for Mary Elizabeth Gallaway with the Rev. B.T. Skelton and Pastor Wayne Landrum officiating. Interment followed at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born June 20, 1929 in Rogers. Mrs. Gallaway had been a resident of Bacliff for three years, previously of Livingston. A homemaker and mother, she was a member of New Covenant Church and enjoyed fishing, shopping, visiting with others and especially loved her family and grandchildren.
She died Sunday morning, October 12, 2003, in Pasadena. She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Minnie Lee Rosser Gann; brothers, Nathan Gann, and LaVerne Gann; sisters, Helen Shafer and Myrtle Boney; and grandson, Tim Gallaway.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Joe Gallaway of Bacliff; sons and daughters-in-law, Alton and Charlotte Gallaway of Livingston, Bobby Gallaway of Bacliff, Denny and Rosie Gallaway of Bacliff, Darrell and Wanda Gallaway of Troy, Clifford and Cindy Gallaway of Bacliff, Leldon Gallaway of Dickinson, Rodger and Deb Gallaway of Brooklin, Michigan; daughter, Beverly Mauldin of Santa Fe; brother, J>E. Gunn of Waco; sisters, Lucille Urban of Austin and Margaret Anderson and husband, Carl, of Belton; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Darrell Gallaway Jr., Denny (Beau) Gallaway Jr., Keith Gallaway, David Goertz, Stephen Harvey, J.T. Maulden and Terry Maulden. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Gallaway and Clay Tombrella.

Gearing
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church of Livingston, for Ruth Aitken Gearing, followed by a memorial reception at the Escapees Care Center.
She was born September 28, 1926 in Colver,  Pennsylvania and died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at home at Rainbow's End.
She was an accomplished musician, both a vocalist and organist. She also was a talented china painter.
She actively participated in the life of several Presbyterian churches over the years in various locales before she and her husband retired from the ministry and began to travel as full time RV'ers. As members of the Escapees RV Club, they traveled for years before settled at the Escapees Care Center in December 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Ray D. Gearing; as well as five siblings. She had four daughters, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider a gift to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 630636, Nacogdoches,  Texas 75963, or Escapees Care Center, 155 Care Center Drive, Livingston,  Texas 77351.

Simmons
Graveside services were held Monday, October 6, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. at Moss Hill Cemetery for Joyce Nell Simmons, 67, of Hardin, with Chaplain Bob Dunegan officiating.
She was born in Gilmer,  Texas on July 16, 1936 and passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2003. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Amanda L. Martin; and sister, Marilyn Joan Presnull.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey A. Simmons of Hardin; children, Monica J.  Johnson and husband, Ray, Melinda K. McCoy, Janice E. Simmons and Martin L. McCoy; grandchildren, Shannon, Elizabeth, Gary, John, Renee, Melissa, Nancy, Marty, Jamee, Misty, James Jr., and Samantha; niece, Debbie; son-in-law, Terry W. Odom; and daughter-in-law, Martha McCoy.
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, was in charge of arrangements.

Stern
A private memorial service for Sherry Lynn Stern, 55, was held Sunday, October 12, 2003, at the Stern residence.
She was born December 2, 1947 in Houston, the daughter of Troy Odell Ellis and Kathryn Bentley Ellis. She most loved spending time with her family.
She died on Saturday, October 11, 2003, at her residence in Onalaska. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her mother, Kathryn Jo Ellis of Onalaska; brothers, James Troy Ellis of Onalaska and Don Ellis of Beaumont; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Stern and Junior Purnia of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Billie Stern of Onalaska; grandsons, Tristen Purnia and Caden Purnia, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Corbert Stern and Gabriel Stern, both of Onalaska; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Cowan
Funeral services were held Friday, October 17, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton for Etha Dell Cowan, 77, of Liberty. Interment followed at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born June 29, 1926 in Centralia,  Texas, the daughter of Benjamin and Ella Payne, the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from Dayton High School in 1943 and lived in Baytown from 1946 until 1994, moving to Liberty until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Baptist faith and attended Maranatha Temple in Mont Belvieu during the later years of her life. She was an avid bowler, being a member of a league in Baytown and a known trophy winner bowler.
Her family and extended family said they will remember her fondly as a fabulous cook and being "Grandmother". She retired from the Kroger Company in Baytown. During her time, she served as a usion stewardess.
Cowan died on Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Liberty Health Care Center after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Cowan; nine brothers; one half-brother; two sisters; and grandson, Dwight Douglas.
Survivors include her son, Milton Cowan and wife, Becky, of Baytown; daughters, Daphne McManus Douglas and Anita Susan Paddie, both of Baytown; sister, Lillian Parker of Segno; eight grandchildren, Jason Cowan, Kelly Cowan, Kristen Cowan, Kaci Cowan, Tommie-John Douglas Jr., Denise Douglas Levin, Erica Zeiders and Derek Paddie; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Serrano and Zack Daniel.

Davis
Funeral services for Dollie M. Davis, 84, of Liberty, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Allison Funeral Chapel in Liberty with the Rev. Mark Payne officiating. Burial followed in Fairlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Liberty.
She was born May 17, 1919 in Daisetta. She was a member of Heights Baptist Church in Liberty and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Davis died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in Madisonville,  Texas.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Herzer and husband, Howard, of Liberty; sons, John F. Davis and wife, Janet, of Hilltop Lakes,  Texas and Gary Davis and wife, Vicki, of Liberty; daughter-in-law, Peggy Davis of Point Blank,  Texas; nine grandchildren, Stacy Davis and wife, Sandra, of Cypress, Ken Davis and wife, Jennifer, of Friendswood, Allison Davis and Brett Davis, both of Hilltop Lakes,  Texas, Karrie Ballard and Mary Kay Hicks and husband, Darrell, all of Liberty, Curtis Herzer of Galveston, Brenda Presser and husband, Doug, of Kingwood and Nancy Davis of Houston; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Lee of Batson and Rufus Lee of Daisetta; and one sister, Zelda Hester of Daisetta.

Gates
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Lakeway Baptist Church in Carlisle, for Maudine K. Gates, 65, of Onalaska, with the Rev. Davis Thornton officiating. Rochelle Hodge presented the Eulogy. Burial followed in Carlisle Cemetery in Trinity County.
She was born September 2, 1938 in Livingston, the daughter of Bill and Dannie Lee Ruley King. She married Charles Gates on November 18, 1955 in Houston. She was an active member of Lakeway Baptist Church in Carlisle and served as third and fourth grade Sunday School teacher, was active in the bus ministry and was a volunteer worker for Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Gates died Wednesday, October 15, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. She was preceded in death by her parents; and step-father, Albert Lettney.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Charles Gates of Onalaska; sons, Charles Gates Jr. of Katy and Randall Gates of Onalaska; daughters, Susan Hodge of Trinity, Jennifer Sargent and Emily Villarreal, both of Burnet; brother, Albert Letney of Meacham, Oregon; sisters, Laura  Johnson of Livingston and Pat Vernon of New Caney; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Watson, Charles Edwards, Lee Mullins, Garland Rutherford, Rene Villareal and Jim Barnett.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Van Dorn
Graveside services for William F. Van Dorn, 96, of Hardin, were conducted Friday, October 17, 2003 at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin.
Van Dorn died on Friday, October 14, 2003. His family said, "He loved and was loved for 96 years." He enjoyed fishing and music.
Survivors include his identical twin, Richard Roger Van Dorn of Lumberton; three daughters; six grandchildren; three granddaughters, one great-grandson on the way and one sister.

Yarbrough
Graveside services for Cynthia Jane Yarbrough, 82, of New Caney, were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, with the Rev. Joe Beasley officiating.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born on February 11, 1921 in Onalaska, the daughter of Isaac Thomas and Minnie Baker Andress. She had been a New Caney resident since 2002, moving from Houston where she had previously lived since 1946. Mrs. Yarbrough worked for Weiner's Department Store from 1946 until her retirement in 1966. She then worked for Superior Furniture in upholstery from 1966 until 1976, returning to Weiner's until 1990.
She passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2003, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Benjamin Yarbrough, in March of 1962. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, James Andress Yarbrough of Splendora; daughter, Neva Jane Osborne of New Caney; sister, Marnell Brown of Onalaska; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Bolt
Graveside services for Donna Jean Bolt, 58, of Rye, were held Saturday, October 25, 2003, from Concord Cemetery in Rye, with the Rev. Clyde Somers officiating.
She was born April 9, 1945 in Pritchett, the daughter of Alvin Gene Ludwig and Mary Emma Craig Ludwig, both of whom preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bolt died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Marjorie Bolt of Rye; granddaughter, Jordan Lynn Bolt of Rye; grandson, Joseph Bolt III of Rye; and aunts, Elma Beard of Deer Park and Ann Shannon of Wichita Falls.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Bowen
Funeral services were held Monday, October 20, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel for Vickie Ann Bowen, 44, with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
She was born February 11, 1959 in Greenville, Mississippi, the daughter of Clifford and Norma L. Phillips Bivins, and died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at her residence in Livingston.
Survivors include her father, Clifford R. Bivins; mother, Norma L. Phillips Bivins; son, Joey Bowen of Pasadena; sister, Terri L. Bivins of Sour Lake; aunt, Shirley O'Donley of Pasadena; step-son, Dustin Bowen of Pasadena; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Bowen, Shane Bowen, Dustin Bowen, Boe Bowen, Uncle Mike Bowen, Uncle Mark Bowen, and Barry Rubec. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ralph Jenke, Dr. Jerry Hudgins, Dr. Bob Cook, Krystal Baggett, Cindy Walzel, Jeannette Montgomery, Chris Avery, Stacy Gaylord, Julie Wheeler, Brenda Bland, Pam Parish, Vanessa Mitchell, Kee Kee Henderson, Alan Markoff, Alice Kozlowicz and Bobbi Shirley.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Causey
Funeral services for Lena Delle Causey, 88, were held Saturday, October 25, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Dobbs officiating. Burial followed in Peebles Cemetery.
She was born July 15, 1915 in Rockland, the daughter of Martin Randolph Penn and Pollie Jane Rawlins Penn.
Mrs. Causey died Thursday, October 23, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Preston Causey; sons, Floyd Eugene Yancey and Johnny Edward Yancey; daughter, Violet Lois Yancey; brothers, Woodrow Penn and Frank Penn; and sisters, Lillie Jane Bryant and Minnie Belle Huffman.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lee and Bobbie Louise Yancey of Cleveland and Melvin Bartley and Maxine Elizabeth Yancey of Goodrich; daughter, Joyce Marie McPherson of Hope, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Joe Allan Holt of Wynnewood,  Oklahoma; nine grandsons, 11 granddaughters, 39 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Francis Moors of Reamus, Michigan.
Pallbearers were Susan Holt, Kay Yancey, Eric Valderez, David Holt, Joe Clifton and Kenneth Eugene Yancey. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Yancey and William Yancey.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.
