Nettles

Funeral services for Clara Capers Nettles, 88, of Timpson, were held Wednesday, December 24, 2003, from the  Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Dr. Clark Strickland, pastor of First Baptist Church in Timpson officiating. Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery in Timpson.

She was born July 30, 1915 in San Jacinto County , the daughter of Julius L. and Bertie Adams Capers. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Timpson.

Mrs. Nettles died Sunday, December 21, 2003 in Mansfield ,  Louisiana . She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Joe Capers and C.D. "Pete" Capers; and sisters, Lucille Capers and Mamie Mayer.

Survivors include her husband, Henry M. "Paul" Nettles of Timpson; son, Harvey A. Tipton and wife, Beth, of Timpson; brothers, T.L. Capers and wife, Mary Ann, of Dodge, Charles Capers and wife, Alma, of Florida, J.M. Capers and wife, Charlene, of Houston and Jimmy Capers and wife, Becky, of Cleveland; sisters, Lula Currie of Oakhurst, Mollie Mae Currie of Staley and Mary Lou Pridgen and husband, Sidney, of Livingston; sister-in-law, Dorothy Capers of Cleveland; grandchildren, Robert S. Tipton and wife, Tina, Martin C. Tipton and Dondi Tipton and wife, Donna; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were deacons of the First Baptist Church in Timpson and Steve Haney.

Nicholson

January 18, 2004
Graveside services for James Terry Nicholson, 57, were held Wednesday, December 31, 2003 , at Camp Ruby Cemetery , with the Rev. Mitchell Murphy officiating.

He was born August 18, 1946 in Baytown , the son of Edger and Ruth Kirkland Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, having attained the rank of E-1. He enlisted on October 22, 1963 in Corpus Christi .

Mr. Nicholson died Sunday, December 28, at his residence in Livingston . He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Richard Edgar Nicholson.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Nicholson of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Shawn Nicholson of Mont Belvieu; daughters, Melissa R. Nicholson and Mistee Nicholson, both of Livingston; mother, Ruth Geaslin of Baytown; sister, Debbie Light of Dayton; brother-in-law, Bobby Light of Dayton; granddaughter, Kacee' Nicholson of Florida; grandson, Ross Hutchinson of Mont Belvieu; uncles, Bennie Kirkland and Joe Kirkland, both of Baytown; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Price

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at Indian Village Assembly of God Church, for Marville "Queenie" Price, 71, of Livingston, with Bro. Darrell Surface and Bro. Rudy Martinez officiating. Burial followed in the Indian Reservation Cemetery .

She was born May 18, 1932 in Livingston, the daughter of David George Williams and Mattie Sue Poncho Williams. Mrs. Price passed away on Monday, December 29, in Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Donald Price; her parents; great-grandchild, Nicholas Williams; great-niece, Lindsey Williams; and great-nephew, Bradley Walker.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Roby Williams of the Indian Reservation; sons, Donald Williams and Clifford Williams, both of the Indian Reservation; step-daughter, Donna Price of Dallas; step-son, Stephen Price of Corpus Christi; grandson, Nathan Williams of Livingston; granddaughter, Regina Knight of Woodville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milton Redd and Pauline Williams, Burke and Lydia Walker, all of Livingston and Oscar and Delores Williams of Indian Springs; sister, Ada Faye Polite of the Indian Reservation; step-sister, Ada  Johnson of the Indian Reservation; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Walding

Funeral services for Sybil Inez Walding, 71, of Livingston , were held Friday, January 2, 2004 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Peebles Cemetery .

She was born August 25, 1932 in Wharton, the daughter of George Leslie Cromeans and Merle Stiflemire Cromeans, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Leland Walding on June 10, 1954 at her parents' home in Orchard. She was known as someone who loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Walding died Monday, December 29, 2003 in Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston .

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Leland Walding of Livingston; daughter, Connie Walding of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas L. and Rebekah Walding of Livingston; granddaughter, Jessica Walding of Livingston; grandson, Brian Curtis Walding of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lavern Cromeans of Orchard; brother-in-law and wife, Bruce and Nancy Walding of Apple Springs; nephew, Michael Cromeans of Wallace; and nieces, Cynthia Rogers of Houston and Peggy Leopold of Needville.

Pallbearers were Earl Gibson, Michael Cromeans, David Tucker, Larry Zuntych, Horace Duff, Lamar Duff and Dwight Fender.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Carney

A celebration of life service for Marland Arthur Carney Sr., 69, was held Friday, January 2, 2003 , at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston .

He was born February 16, 1934 in Delhi ,  Louisiana , the son of Clyde and Viola (Wilburn) Carney, both of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Carney died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 , at his home in Humble.

Survivors include his wife, Joana Carney, of Humble; sons, Eugene Carney of Hearne, James Carney of Hearne, A. Carney Jr. of Conroe, Lonnie Carney of Palestine and Oscar Trejo of Humble; daughters, Mary Carney and Debbie Carney, both of Hearne and Vicky Walker of Porter; 18 grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston , was in charge of arrangements.

DeVoltz

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 3, 2004 , at the Sunflower Baptist Church for Louis Arnold DeVoltz Sr., 55, with the Rev. Mitchell Murphy officiating. Burial followed in the Camp Ruby Cemetery .

He was born September 1, 1948 in Conroe , the son of Louis and Billie Potter DeVoltz Sr. He was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church inn Camp Ruby. He was Chief Scout for the Old Spanish Trail Riders for 10 years, a director of The Coon Hound Division of the American Kennel Club since 1997 and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 14 AF & AM.

Mr. DeVoltz died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at his home in Livingston . He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Arnold DeVoltz Sr. and Billie Jean Potter DeVoltz.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia DeVoltz; son, Louis Arnold DeVoltz III of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Chris Ybarra of Spring; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Doug Olin of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Genny DeVoltz of Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Louis Arnold DeVoltz III, Kenneth DeVoltz, Doug Olin, Terry Bramlett, Ed Mills, Eddie Vordokas, Raymond Meyers and Coy Wright.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Dillard

Graveside services for Marlena Joy Dillard, 70, of Livingston , were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 , in Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Reeves officiating.

She was born March 3, 1933 in Tampa , Florida , the daughter of Russell and Irene Dubose Singletary.

Mrs. Dillard died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 , at Memorial Southeast Hospital in Friendswood. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Singletary; and a daughter, Jackie.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Dillard of Livingston; her mother, Irene Chafin of Tampa, Florida; son, Curtis Wood of Seabrook; son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Denise Polston of Friendswood; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Sonny Peters of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, George and Wendy Sucarichi of Houston; son, Nelson Sucarichi of Alvin; son, Richard Shane Dillard of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Janie Singletary of San Antonio; sisters, Margaret Gladden, Mary Rand, Theresa Quarrels and Ann Stringfield, all of Tampa, Florida; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Groover

Funeral services for Clarence Spencer Groover, 76, of Dayton , were held Saturday, December 27, 2003 , at Sterling Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. Interment followed at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton .

He was born on August 2, 1927 in Folkston , Georgia , to Daniel D. Groover and Bessie E. Herrin. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific aboard and Battleship USS New York . He was a 32-year resident of Dayton .

He spent most of his life on or near the ocean. After leaving the Navy, he worked on shrimp boats before becoming a longshoreman. He was a member of the International Longshoreman's Association Local #1273. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and cars, as well as watching his sons race. He also like to watch NASCAR racing and raising rabbits and fishing.

Mr. Groover died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 , at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; and son, Herman Groover.

Survivors include his loving wife, Theo Groover of Dayton; sons, Charlie Groover and wife, Karen, of Houston, Robert Groover and wife, Trish, of Dayton, and Gary Groover and wife, Joyce, of Clear Lake; daughter-in-law, Deborah Groover of Dayton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hogg

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2004 , at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel for Johnny Adolph Hogg, 64, with the Revs. James Frazier and Mary Shivers officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Apple Springs.

He was born September 17, 1939 in Groveton, the son of Roy Lee and Florence Chism Hogg. He married Katherine Pauline Reeves on June 13, 1958 in Houston . He was a member of the First United Methodist Church .

Mr. Hogg died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at his home in Livingston . He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Florence Chism Hogg; two sisters, Gladys DeHart and Betty Jo Reagan; a brother, Edward Lee Hogg; and an infant daughter.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathrine P. Hogg; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Joe Woolf of Atlanta,  Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin Roy and Jeannette Hogg of San Antonio; brother and sister-in-law, Billy E. and Jo Ann Hogg of Livingston; sister and brother-in-law, Margie Jean and Truett Sorley of Houston; grandchildren, LaShanda and Dylan Parkhurst of Nacogdoches, Frank Woolf of Atlanta,  Texas, Kalena and Josh Coder of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Jennifer Hogg of Fort Meade, Maryland, James Roy Hogg of Clarksville,  Texas, David Wayne Hogg of San Antonio, Britney Hogg of San Antonio and Brec Ann Hogg of San Antonio; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Linneweber

Funeral services for Andrew John Linneweber, 18, of Killeen ,  Texas , were held on Monday, January 5, 2004 at Pace-Stancil/Probst Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Holt officiating. Interment followed in Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens .

A native of Humble,  Texas , he was born November 17, 1985 . Mr. Linneweber passed away on January 1, 2004 .

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Lori Jean Linneweber; brother, Joshua Linneweber and wife, Nicole; sister, Tracy Wilson and husband, Wayne; grandparents, Francis and Emma Linneweber, Ronald and Joyce Anderberg and Betty Anderberg; four nieces and nephews, Tyler, Alyvia, Bryan and Ashley.

Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 303 East Crockett, Cleveland, was in charge of arrangements.

Seminuk

Graveside services were held Saturday, January 3, 2004 for Nick Harry Seminuk, 76, at the Camp Ruby Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. military honors were conducted by the VFW Post No. 8568 Honor Guard.

He was born April 21, 1927 in Pittsfield ,  Pennsylvania , the son of Wasel and Anna Seminuk. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years, 10 months and 18 days. He then taught ROTC at Ball High School in Galveston and later at New Caney ISD, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Seminuk died Monday, December 28, 2003 at his home in Livingston . He was preceded in death by his parents, Wasel and Anna Seminuk; his wife, Laura Ellen Seminuk; and all of his siblings.

Survivors include numerous relatives in and around the state of  Pennsylvania .
