Wells

Funeral services for Clifford Dean Wells, 57, of Liberty, were held Friday, January 2, 2004, at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, with Bro. Harry McDaniel Sr. officiating. Interment followed in Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington.

He was born on November 27, 1946 in Jacksonville ,  Texas , the son of Fred Pierce Wells and Florence Lula Bird. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Jacksonville High School . He had lived in Liberty for the past 17 years where he worked as an electrician. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Devers and was an ordained deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers.

He was known by his family and friends as a jack of all trades who was always busy and enjoyed building toys for his children and grandchildren. They say they will remember him as a fun person who enjoyed life in it's fullest.

Mr. Wells died on Tuesday evening, December 30, 2003 at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital . He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nina Lisa Wells Griffin; grandson, Kyle Neal Griffin; and brother, Wayne Wells.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patty Wells of Liberty; sons, John Wells, Dean Aaron Wells and Michael Wells, all of Liberty, daughters, Melissa  Whiteley of Tyler, Toni Alford and husband, Dane and Deana Simeon and husband, Tracy, all of Liberty; brother, David Wells and wife, Ruth, and Doyle Wells and wife, Glenda, all of Tyler; sisters, Cathy Odum and husband, Jimmy, of Tyler, Denise Cass and husband, Jimmy, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Becky Wells of Galveston; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society or the Dean Wells Memorial Fund at First Liberty National Bank.

Corder
Frieda Ruth Corder, 81, died on Friday, December 26, 2003 , in Huntsville Memorial Hospital , Huntsville . She was born July 28, 1922 , the daughter of Edgar Leon Wininger and Ester Hunn Wininger, both of whom preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Paul Corder of Point Blank; brother, Fred Wininger; grandchild, Paul Corder II of Irving; step-sister, Ashley Corder of Point Blank; and great-grandchildren, Paul Corder, Willie Corder, Chris Corder and Suzie Corder. Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston , was in charge of arrangements.

Davis
John Paul Davis lost his battle with diabetes on December 25, 2003 . He was known as a loving husband and father and an avid hunter and fisherman. Born on October 24, 1953 to James and Marie Davis in Richmond , Indiana , he attended and graduated from school in Connorsville , Indiana . He was CEO of J. Davis Machinery in Livingston . Before starting J. Davis Machinery with his father and brother, John started his work with Brown & Root in Scotland . After his return to the states, he moved to Yaupon Cove in Onalaska. Once here he started a business as a hunting and fishing guide. He also worked as the project operator for the drive-in and was security at a local business. He made many friends in Polk County . In 1992, he met Elizabeth Ann Tate and they were married in 1996. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Maxine Peyton Davis. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann Huggins Davis of Onalaska; daughter, Kimberly Lane Tate of Onalaska; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi Leigh and Kristopher Moore of Flower Mound; granddaughter, Zoya Elizabeth Moore of Flower Mound; father and step-mother, James Marqus and Carol Davis of Manitou Springs, Colorado; brother, Mark Davis of Onalaska; his hunting pal, C.C.; and numerous other family members and friends. There was a celebration of his life, Saturday, January 3, 2004 , at the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited or the National Rifle Association, which he had supported all his life.

Fowler
Funeral services for Roy Kenneth Fowler, 79, of Leggett, were held Friday, January 2, 2004 , from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial followed in Houston National Cemetery . military honors were conducted by the VFW Post 8568 Honor Guard and District Number 4 Honor Guard. He was born January 13, 1924 in Houston, the son of John Alfred Fowler and Fannie Ola Dagg Fowler. Mr. Fowler served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of corporal. He enlisted on November 25, 1940 in Houston and was discharged on October 13, 1945 at Fort Sam Houston,  Texas. He married Dorothy Fowler on April 29, 1977 in Houston . Mr. Fowler died Sunday, December 28, in the VA Hospital in Houston . He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Fowler; three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dorothy Fowler of Leggett; sons, Gerald Fowler and Robin Fowler, both of Houston; step-son, Billy Boyd; daughter, Sharon McSwain of Houston; step-daughter, Gail Mason of Bocow, Arkansas; step-sons, Ted  Jones of Houston and Harold  Jones of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Samuel Mason, Matthew Jones, Steven Jones, Orry Jones, Clifton McSwain Jr. and Julian Simmons. Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Hulin
Graveside services were held Wednesday, December 31, 2003 , at Magnolia Hill Cemetery in Segno, for Charlie Gean "MaMaw" Ellis Hulin, 72, with the Rev. Mitchell Murphy officiating. She was born March 13, 1931 in Ebenezer, the daughter of Charlie Andrew Ellis and Eva Byerly Ellis. She married William Raleigh Hulin Sr. on October 29, 1946 in Galveston . Mrs. Hulin was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church , Segno Volunteer Fire Department since its inception and Order of the Eastern Star in Silsbee. Mrs. Hulin died Monday, December 29, at her residence in Segno. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Jodie Lynn Buckner. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, William Raleigh Hulin Sr. of Livingston; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gean Hulin Buckner and husband, Billy Wayne, of Beaumont, and Sondra Lynn Hulin Cain and husband, Charles "Mike" of Livingston; son, William Raleigh Hulin Jr. of Livingston; grandsons, Paul C. Cain and wife, Tanya, of Tomball, and Justin Leigh Hulin of College Station; granddaughters, Leigh Ann Hulin Dotson and husband, Andy, of Corsicana, Billie Gene Buckner of Marshall and Kimberly Cain Lewis and husband, B.L. "Trey" of Houston; great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Cain of Tomball and Dena Hulin Dotson of Corsicana; and great-grandson, Wade Cain of Tomball. Pallbearers were Larry Dugat, Bo Tolar, Bill Mayhew, Tommy Eaton, Mike Schwark and Robert Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Jones, Tommy Gonzales and David Ramsey. Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Thompson
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 21, 2003, for Mike Thompson, 50, of Rye, at Pace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Rhodes officiating. Interment followed in Holly Grove Cemetery.
Mike was born on November 19, 1953 in Houston, Mississippi, to parents, Carroll and Ruby Cherry Thompson. He was an instrument and electric engineer working in industrial construction.
Mr. Thompson died on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 in Dayton.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Shelley of Rye; father, Carroll Thompson of Marshall, Arkansas; brother, Alan Sheeley and wife, Mary, of Jackson, Mississippi; sisters, Shonnie Aisenbrey- Taylor of Rye, and Cheri Kroll of Livingston; four nephews, Chance Aisenbrey, Chance Shelley, Corey Shelley and Chace Shelley; a niece, Jennifer Smith; seven great-nieces and nephews.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Tuck
Funeral services for Brittany Michelle Tuck, 19, of Dayton, were conducted on Friday, December 19, 2003, at the Dayton High School Gymnasium with the Rev. Benton Eskew officiating. Interment was at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, at Fall Creek Cemetery near Austin.
Tuck died Monday evening, December 15, 2003, following a vehicle accident. She was born January 23, 1984 in San Angelo,  Texas, the daughter of Keith and Sandra Tuck. She was a 2002 graduate of Dayton High School where she was voted class clown her Senior year. She had been a sophomore at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
Brittany was employed at Wings and More in Baytown and enjoyed music, especially classic rock and  Texas rock. She had remarkable athletic ability and love of her family, according to those who knew her. Above all Tuck never met a stranger, helping everyone she knew.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Lee Rush, Doyle Keith Tuck Sr. and Patricia Lecetta Marr Tuck.
Survivors include her parents, Keith and Sandra Tuck of Dayton; grandparents, Adolph and Jodie Rush-Tomas of Buna; brother, Jeffrey Royle Duck of Dayton; sister, Megan Paige Tuck of Dayton; aunts and uncles, Teddy and Trisha Grabarkewitz of Richland Springs, Marjess and Phil Tobar of Smithville, Johnny and Virginia Rush of Buna, and Jo Lee and Freddie Hukill of Huntsville; god-mother, Ouisa and Tommy Silvender of Baytown; godfather, Larry Tuck of Clear Lake; uncles, Kenneth and Liz Tomas of Beaumont, James Tomar of Buna, Michael and Jennifer of Silsbee, David and Cheryl Tomas of Buna; cousins, Clark, Lauri and Sami Grabarkewitz; cousins, Dana, Jordan and Leslie Tover; cousins, John and Stacy Rush; cousins, Mandy, Missy and Steven Zeller; and cousins, B.J., Clint, Tyler and Beau Hukill.

Boyer
Funeral services for Bessie Louise Boyer, 79, were held Wednesday, December 17, 2003, from Soda Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
She was born April 20, 1924 in Lufkin, the daughter of Jasper Nelson Hill and Mary Burke Collins Hill, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Boyer was a member of Soda Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and was an Exxon retiree.
Mrs. Boyer died Sunday, December 14, at her residence in Livingston.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan Perry of Friendswood; granddaughter, Jennifer Hendrix; grandsons, Christopher Perry and Jason Perry; great-granddaughters, Lisa Lister, Shelby Perry and Ashlyn Esquivel; nieces, Mary Ann Lister and Peggy Savage; nephews, Floyd McDuffie and Willie McDuffie and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Floyd McDuffie, John Lister, Christopher Perry, Jason Perry, Ricky Savage and Randy Savage. Honorary pallbearers were Herman Perry and Willie McDuffie.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Bruyere
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003 for Gloria Lee Ringold Bruyere, 76, at the First United Methodist Church in Onalaska, with the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating.
She was born March 30, 1927 in Ranger, the daughter of Newton F. and Verna Lee Trammell Ringold. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Onalaska, PMW of Easter Star North Shore Chapter No. 1058 and Eastern star Livingston Chapter No. 1139.
Mrs. Bruyere died Friday, December 19, at her residence in Onalaska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bruyere in 1989, and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Rivers of Onalaska, Susan and husband, Tim Urban, of Baytown and Jeannine  Woods of Houston; son, Luther Rivers of Onalaska; granddaughters, Karen and husband, Cliff, of Sugarland and Autumn Rivers and husband, Corby Daughtrey, of Temple; grandsons, Jason and wife Gena  Woods of Austin and Jeremy Urban of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Parker, Pamela Parker, Lara Parker,  Taylor Grimm, Emma Daughtrey, Laurel Daughtrey, Drew Woods, DeLynn  Woods and Garrett Woods.
Cochran Funeral Home, Onalaska, was in charge of arrangements.

Jones
Funeral services for Avie DeWanda Jones, 77, were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home, with Bro. Wesley Pate, Bro. Robert Armstrong and Bro. Bill Cauthorn officiating. Burial followed in Peebles Cemetery.
She was born February 3, 1926 in Camilla, the daughter of Hubert A. and Avie Young Hughes. She was a member of Hemphill Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs.  Jones died Tuesday, December 16, in Woodville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Jones; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Laura Elizondo of Port Neches, Debbie Gilliam of Woodville and Penny Milner of League City; sons, Sidney Hall of Sephryhills, Florida and John Hall of Woodville; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, N.G. Young of Lumberton and J.B. Young of Wimberly; and sister, Velma Harrell Fling of Lumberton.
Pallbearers were Jerry Harrell, Larry Young, David Harrell, Gary Young, Ed Emanuel, Grant Gilbert and Woody Dixon.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Lewing
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 for Leamon Carl Lewing Sr., 64, of Livingston, at Broussard's Mortuary in Kountze. Burial followed in Village Mills Cemetery.
A native of Branson, he lived in Livingston and was a retired carpenter. He died Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at his residence.
Survivors include his son, Leamon Carl Lewing Jr. and wife, Julia, of Segno; daughter, Carla Ann Roberts and husband, Kelly, of Kansas; sisters, Eloise Bell and husband, Tom, of Warren and Bobbie Burks and husband, Johnny, of Big Sandy; and eight grandchildren.

McCairns
Funeral services for Robert 'Scotty" McCairns, 58, of Onalaska, were conducted Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska with the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial followed in Houston National Cemetery in Houston. military honors were conducted by the District 4 Honor Guard.
He was born March 10, 1945 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Robert and Agnes Houston McCairns. The family migrated from Scotland to Houston in 1955. He had a distinguished career with the Harris County Sheriff's Department before beginning his military career, which started at Reagan High School ROTC. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. His military career spanned from 1972 to 1984, during which time he served with NATO Combined military Police, headquartered in Germany. He served all over Europe, where he received many awards and commendations. He was selected as part of the Honor Guard to escort Ladybird  Johnson at President Lyndon B. Johnson's funeral. After military retirement, he resided for many years in Anaheim, California, where he received his bachelor's degree from UCLA in criminal justice. He was a member of Reagan Lodge AF&AM of Houston, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason - Ben Hur Shrine Temple. After several heart attacks and strokes, he came back to  Texas, where he settled in Onalaska and became an active part of the First United Methodist Church, Onalaska. He loved being in the church choir.
Mr. McCairns died Monday, December 15, in Memorial Medical Center -- Livingston.
Survivors include his brother, David McCairns of Houston; sisters, Rena McCairns Gonzales and husband, Martin, of Puebla, Mexico, June Moore of Livingston, and Eleanor Jahnke and husband, Ronnie, of Houston; nephew, Matthew Jahnke; niece and nephew, Cristin and Andrew Jahnke Matthes; nephew and niece, Jason and Heidi Moore; niece and nephew, Yvonne and Mike Maddox; niece, Christina Maddox; niece, Natlie Maddox; nephew, Nicholas Maddox; niece, Gabriella Maddox; and a host of friends in California and  Texas.
Cochran Funeral Home, Onalaska, was in charge of arrangements.

Moore
Funeral services for Everett Leon Moroe, 72, were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003, from the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, with the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.
He was born June 2, 1931 in Highlands, the son of Beverly W. and Mavis Welch Moore. He died Tuesday, December 16, at his residence in Onalaska. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his son, Gary Leon Moore Sr. of Houston; daughters, Debra Goldstein of Bedias, Dana Claire Wagner of Porter, Mavis Bernice Baker of Porter and Wanda Denise Moore of Onalaska; mother, Mavis Slaughter of LaGrange; sister, Beverly Boehm of LaGrange; son-in-law, Robert Goldstein of Bedias; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Moore of Houston; son-in-law, Carl Baker of Porter; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Earlene and Robert Dow of Houston; brother-in-law, Roland Boehm of LaGrange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Goldstein, Gary Moore, Raymond Wagner, Ronald Wagner, Wayne Ring, Jason Jackson, Jack Smith, Adrian Sonny Smith, Robert Dow and Michael Lee Bond. Honorary pallbearers were Captain Rowdy Inman, Gary Thomas Inman, Seth Paul Moore, Jonathan Miller and Nathan Jackson.
Cochran Funeral Home, Onalaska, was in charge of arrangements.

Sumrall
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 17, 2003 for Alfred Daniel Sumrall Jr., 82, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Dickens officiating. Burial followed in Menard Chapel Cemetery in Polk County.
He was born November 1, 1921 in Rye to Alfred Daniel and Jewel Blankenship Sumrall. He married Evelyn Coker Sumrall on June 23, 1976 and they had many happy, happy years together. Illness left him homebound, with his wife serving as caregiver, making him happy and comfortable.
Mr. Sumrall retired from Exxon after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a long-time member of the Exxon Club of East  Texas, which he helped organize. He was a Baptist by faith and loved going to church until ill health kept him at home. The church family kept him in their prayers and visited when they could.
Mr. Sumrall died Monday, December 15, at his residence in Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy; and stepdaughter and son-in-law, Barbara Coker Astleford and Seldon C. Astleford.
Survivors include his wife of 27 and a half years, Evelyn Sumrall; son and wife, Eldon D. and Diane Sumrall of Crockett; daughter and husband, Jewell and Billy Collins of Livingston; step-daughter and husband, Rebecca and Terry Browning of Houston; step-son and wife, Lloyd and Lori Coker of Livingston; step-son and wife, John and Rose Coker of California; sister, Lorena  Jones of Houston; two brothers, Eldon A. Sumrall of Plano and James and wife, Gerena Sumrall, of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pete Tolar, Kenny Tolar, Michael Tolar, Jerry Wiggins, Shane Tolar and Todd Tolar. Honorary pallbearers were Blackie Bourge, John Lorenz, Lewis Marks, Jimmy Griffin and Bill Kervin.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.
