Graves
September 7, 2004
Leonard E. Graves, 81, of Hull, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont.
Mr. Graves was born October 25, 1922 in Dayton, the son of George and Myrtle Petty Graves. He was a former resident of Alabama and had resided in the Hull area since 1985.
Graves was a retired merchant seaman for Exxon of Baytown and had attended Dayton High School. He was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps with service during World War II. He also enjoyed fishing, telling jokes and stories, duck hunting, cooking, the outdoors, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ona Mae Tubb Watts; brother, Irvin Graves; and brother-in-law, Bill Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Peggy  Jones Graves of Hull; daughters, Peggy Crocker of Dayton and Tiny Fregia, and husband, Jerry, of Hardin; sister, Alma Lee Greenwood of Sugarland; granddaughters, Rayna Watts Love and husband, Bobby, Jennifer Fregia Pennington and husband, Charles, Amber Fregia Hart and husband, Bubba, and Tosha Fregia; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that any floral tributes be made in the form of potted plants.

Jones
September 7, 2004
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28, 2004, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel for Thomas Edward 'Tom' Jones, 79, with the Rev. Fred Albert officiating. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, in Silom Cemetery in Buffalo.
He was born May 7, 1925 in Buffalo, the son of John and Effie Ula Lummus Jones. Mr.  Jones served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr.  Jones died Thursday, August 26, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Mae and James Hopkins of Livingston; granddaughter, Melissa Darnell Bass and husband, Charles Ray, of Livingston; great-granddaughter, Courtney Franklin of Livingston; sister, Vergie Morris of  Washington; and brother, Leroy  Jones of Eustace.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Cannady
September 7, 2004
Graveside services for Sam Cannady, 79, were held Monday, August 23, 2004, in Bold Springs Cemetery, with the Rev. Chuck McLaurin officiating. military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568.
He was born January 11, 1925 in Idabel,  Oklahoma, the son of Ernest and Lula Mae Barnes Cannady.
Mr. Cannady died Friday, August 20, in Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Robin Cannady Molac.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Patti Cannady of Livingston, Sammy and Sharon Cannady of  Oklahoma City,  Oklahoma, Kenneth and Jo Cannady of Hugo,  Oklahoma, Steve and Martha O'Bannon of Livingston and Gary and Donna O'Bannon of Onalaska; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Russell Tuncap of The Woodlands; sisters, Lela and Effie; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steven O'Bannon, Shane Scifres, Jeff Johnson, Kevin Cannady Jr., Jason O'Bannon and Benjamin Flores. Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Cannady, Bobby Watson, Mitchell Watson, John Coward, Monty Kolthoff, Kris Scifres and Christopher Griffith.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Matthews
September 7, 2004
Funeral services were held at Cochran Funeral Home, Thursday, August 26, 2004, for Inez Matthews, 87, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Center Grove Cemetery.
She was born February 24, 1917 in Edgewood, the daughter of John Ivan Heddins and Mary Ellen Barber Heddins.
Mrs. Matthews died Sunday, August 22, in Park Manor Nursing Home, Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph 'Hack' Matthews; and brothers, Percy Heddins, Clifford Heddins, Pat Heddins, Roma Heddins and J.J. Heddins.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Anna and Dean Winslow of Porter and Nancy Christine and Bob Blackwell of Brookshire; daughter, Judith Faye Malone of Jersey Village; sister, Mary Chloe Matthews of Irving; grandchildren, Michael Bryant, Alana Tyler, Michele Millican, Ellen Winslow, Jennifer Malone, Jeffrey Malone and Scott Malone; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Bryant, Michael Bryant II, Jeffrey Malone, Scott Malone, J.C. Millican, Thomas Duke and Preston Taylor.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Moses
September 7, 2004
Funeral services for Walter Lee Moses, 77, were conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Cochran Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Klewer officiating. Burial followed in Pirtle Baptist Church in Kilgore.
He was born January 18, 1927 in Voth, the son of George Fanner Moses and Myra Elanor Scott Moses.
Mr. Moses died Saturday, August 21, in Memorial Medical Center, Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son, Jimmy Lee Flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Inez Moses; daughter, Vicki Wade of Kilgore; daughters and sons-in-law, Pattie and Paul Klewer of Kilgore and Melinda and Glen Dingley of Alvin; brothers and sisters-in-law, George F. and Margie Moses Jr. of Beaumont and Herbert A. and Anna Moses of Pasadena; step-sons, Elton Ray Flowers and wife, Mary Ann, of Livingston, Paul Flowers and wife, Jill, of Willis and Bobby Flowers and wife, Tammy, of Livingston; step-daughters, Patricia Spikes and husband, James, of Marquez and Beck Moore and husband, Johnny Riley, of Livingston; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Patterson
September 7, 2004
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 2004 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Mickey Patterson, 77, with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery, Onalaska.
She was born October 24, 1926 in Huntsville, the daughter of Tazewell Nowling Giles and Anna Mae Bickley Giles.
Mrs. Patterson died Friday, August 20, in Timberwood Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sterling Patterson; and sisters, Joyce Holmes and Terry Giles.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Olga Patterson of Boerne; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Darla Giles of Normangee; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Max Horton of Marble Falls; granddaughters, Audrey Meador of Houston and Amanda Asher of Boerne; grandson, Shane Patterson of Boerne; great-granddaughters, Ashley Meadow and Alexis Meador, both of Houston and Kendall Asher of Boerne; and great-grandson, John Meador of Houston.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Pilgreen
September 7, 2004
Graveside services were held on Monday, August 23, 2004 for Travis Lee Pilgreen, 19, of Dayton at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
He was born December 15, 1984 in Liberty the son of Travis L. Pilgreen and Annette Sheckler. He had resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a roughneck for Five 'J' Oilfield Services, had attended West Hardin High School and enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports -- especially baseball.
Mr. Pilgreen died August 20 in Saratoga. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, A.F. Pilgreen.
Survivors include his wife, Crystal Preston Pilgreen of Batson; daughter, Cheleby Pilgreen of Batson; mother, Annette Fuentes and husband, Jose, of Dayton; father, Travis L. Pilgreen and wife, Debra Boyington, of Saratoga; sister, Abriella Fuentes of Dayton; brother, Christopher Pilgreen of Dayton; step-sisters, Rebecca Boyington of Batson, Tiffany Boyington of Saratoga and Tabiola Fuentes of Mexico; step-brothers, Nick Boyington of Alabama and Jorge Fuentes of Mexico; maternal grandparents, Jack Sheckler and June Amaya of Hardin; paternal grandmother, Lillie Faye Messer of Saratoga; step-grandmother, Margarita Silva of Mexico; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Short
September 7, 2004
A funeral mass was held for Ruby Witzkoski Short, of Liberty County, at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at St. James Catholic Church in Spring,  Texas. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment followed at Houston National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
Ruby passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the age of 79 in Houston.
Survivors include her children, Linda Hale, David Short, Glynna Hogue and Deanna O'Neil; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, plus many other relatives and friends.

Swien
September 7, 2004
Daniel Austin Swien, age 1, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, in  Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
He was born June 18, 2003 in Houston, the son of Robert and Laura Krascell Swien.
Survivors include his father, Robert Vincent Swien; his mother, Laura Elizabeth Krascell Swien; brother, Bobby Swien of Midway; sister, Shelby Swien of Midway; grandparents, John and Sandra Krascell of Swartz Creek, Michigan; grandfather, Robert A. Swien of Richester, Michigan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held for Daniel at his residence at a later date.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Vickers
September 7, 2004
Funeral services for Henrietta Vickers, 79, of Deer Park, were held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Deer Park Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Wood officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens, Baytown.
Mrs. Vickers was born on January 30, 1925 in Saratoga. Mrs. Vickers was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and a charter member of the Greater Onalaska Lioness Club.
Mrs. Vickers died on July 29 in Clear Lake.
Survivors include her husband of 60 1/2 years, Elwyn Vickers; son, Barry Vickers; daughters, Vickie Lindsey and Lisa Ingrando; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Kameron Ingrando, Chuck Lindsey, Don Vanya, Tommy Vanya, Stacy Vickers, Bill Wilkes and Ray Wilkes.

Aden
August 30, 2004
Funeral services for Jimmie Lee Harrell Aden, formerly of Stephen's Creek, San Jacinto County,  Texas, were held Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring with Truitt Thomson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stephen's Creek.
She was born November 15, 1915 in San Jacinto Community of San Jacinto County. She was the daughter of James Thomas and Nellie Louise Blanks Harrell. She attended the grade school at various locations in that community and graduated Valedictorian, 1935, from India Grace High School in Coldspring. She attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville for two years.
Mrs. Aden retired from Coldspring-Oakhurst ISD as a teacher's aide in 1980 after 15 years. She then worked as a records keeper for the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Department, retiring from her second job in 1988. At this time, she worked as a substitute teacher for a number of years in the upper elementary and middle school grades.
She married Howard Marshall Aden, in San Jacinto County, in 1936. To this union, four children were born. Mrs. Aden was a charter member of the Daughters of the Republic of  Texas, William Cochran Chapter in Coldspring, a member of the Walker County AARP, and  Texas Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Aden died on Friday, August 6, 2004, in Houston, after suffering a massive stroke the previous Tuesday. She had lived in Oakhurst for the past three years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshall; a son, Jimmy Harrell Aden; and her siblings, Annie Kate Harrell Burkhardt, Charlie Thomas Harrell and Mary Eugenia Harrell Phillips.
Survivors include her son, Howard Manley Aden and his wife, Edith of Baytown; daughters, Joyce Aden Boyce Whatley of Baytown and Ynette Aden Boyce and husband, James, of Oakhurst; six grandchildren, Roia Marshelle Aden Garcia, Rose Marie Aden Milne, Howard Michael Aden, Charles Aden Boyce, William 'Bill' Marshall Boyce and Becky Lynn Boyce Flarity; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie May Harrell Byrd of Murfreesboro, North Carolina and Betty Faye Sellers Currie Thompson of South Houston; sister-in-law, Lois Erskine Harrell of Kerrville; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins by the dozen and countless friends.
Pallbearers were her three grandsons and three nephews, Jeff Currie, Ray Currie and James E. Harrell.
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, was in charge of arrangements.
