Graveside services for Matthew Alvin Tucker, 16, were held Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Bluewater Cemetery with the Rev. David  Jones officiating.
Matthew was born August 26, 1987 in Livingston, the son of Michael and Beverly Munson Tucker.
Survivors include his parents, Beverly and Randy Evins of Schwab City; sisters, Destiny Ducker and Heather Evins, both of Schwab City; grandfather, Danny Munson of Schwab City; grandmother, Rhonda Burks of Corrigan; uncle and aunt, Ed and Monica Munson of Schwab City; cousins, Daniel and Isabella Munson of Schwab City; grandmother, Myrna Evins of Schwab City; grandfather, Claudie Ray Evins of Spokane,  Washington; grandfather, Marlin Tucker of LaPorte; grandmother, Bertha Manners of Tennessee; aunts, Sandy James, Esther and Renee; special friends, Harold Steagall, Brian Byerly, Roger Harvey; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Randy Evins, Harold Steagall, Ed Munson, James Coy Munson, Don Bullock Jr., S.K. Burks, Brian Byerly and Justin Murdock. Honorary pallbearers were Peter Burks, Clifford James, Paden Hooks, Dean Murdock and Mike Allen.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Underwood
June 28, 2004
Graveside services for Bertie Louise Underwood, 89, were held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Farley Chapel Cemetery in Shepherd, with the Rev. Lloyd Lowe officiating.
She was born March 24, 1915 in Singleton, the daughter of Robert Lee Allen and Bertie Leona Garner Allen.
Mrs. Underwood died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Memorial Medical Center -- Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Survivors include her sisters, Glada Musgrove of Point Blank and Connie Price of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Whitmire
June 28, 2004
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 15, 2004, for Herbert Lloyd Whitmire, 72, at Bold Springs Cemetery, with Bro. Harold Isaacs officiating.
He was born April 22, 1932 in Liberty, the son of Luther and Aslee Watson Whitmire.
Mr. Whitmire died Monday, June 14, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandson, Caleb Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Francis Whitmire; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Debbie Davis of Livingston and Henry and Donna Whitmire of Marquez; granddaughters, Amber Randolph and Brooke Whitmire; grandsons, Justin Davis, Chuck  LeBlanc, Cody Whitmire and Cory Whitmire; great-grandson, Marcus Randolph; great-granddaughters, Bailey Davis and Malorey Davis; and brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Whitmire Sr. of Livingston.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Barton
June 28, 2004
Funeral services for Daniel David 'Tiny' Barton, 52, of Rye, were conducted on Wednesday, June 17, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home. Interment followed in Rye,  Texas.
He was born November 23, 1951, the son of Daniel and Norma Barton in Houston. Mr. Barton lived in Humble, before moving to Rye 7 years ago. Tiny dearly loved his wife, Ann, and took great joy in always remembering special occasions in their lives. He loved to read and was especially interested in watching The History Channel. His pastimes included 4 wheeling, taking pictures and enjoying the companionship of his dogs.
Mr. Barton died on Tuesday, June 15, 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Ann; father, Daniel Barton of Rye; daughter, Jennifer Smith and her companion of 7 years, Clinton Forsyth and their daughter, Bailey Forsyth, all of Kingwood; step-son, Gary Snider and his wife, Christie, and their three daughters, Brittney, Ashlynn and Darci, of Kingwood; brothers, Richard Barton and his wife, Dora, of Willis and Wayne Crutcher and his wife, Tracey, and their 4 sons of Humble; and many other family members and close friends.
Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood,  Texas was in charge of arrangements.

Hunter
June 28, 2004
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Midway Community Church for Jewel Evelyn Hunter, 88, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial followed in Midway Cemetery.
She was born December 12, 1915 in Midway, the daughter of Asa Carlos Parten and Ina Pearl Polk Parten. Mrs. Hunter died Wednesday, June 16, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; her parents; and a sister, Mildred Dickens.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Aletha Charlene and John A. Hollifield of Livingston; son, Jerald Hunter of Livingston; brother, Charles Ray Parten of Angleton; sister, Wilma Adams of San Antonio; grandsons, John Hollifield and Stephen Hollifield, both of Conroe, David Hunter and Brett Hunter, both of Livingston; granddaughter, Sharla Kae Hollifield of Orange; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Polk, Leonard Earl Polk, Patrick Dickens, Derwood Soots, Stephen Hollifield and John Hollifield.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence
June 28, 2004
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, at Bethel Baptist Church for Florence Chambers Lawrence, 90, of Livingston, with the Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating. Interment followed in Bold Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Pace Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lawrence, the oldest of nine children, was born on August 21, 1931 in Bedias, the daughter of James A. and Ora Mae Mills Chambers. She came to Polk County at a very young age and had resided here since. She married Vern Lawrence on August 18, 1929 and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1988. She became a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Bold Springs on August 16, 1930. She enjoyed getting outdoors in the late afternoon to look at her flowers and she loved children.
She died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Livingston. In addition to her parents; a son, August Frank Lawrence; five brothers; three sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.
Survivors include four children, Pearlee Blackerby, Bobby Lawrence and Glen Lawrence, all of Livingston, Jimmie Monroe and husband, Herman, of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ed Monroe, Spencer Monroe, Charlie Hodge, Chris Brown, Caleb Heilander, Ted Keeling, Bill  White, Doug Blackerby and Warren Krieger. J.W. Blackerby served as honorary pallbearer.
Pace Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

Parker
June 28, 2004
Funeral services for Leo B. Parker, 83, were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Donnie Willis, Mary Shivers and James Frazier officiating. Burial followed in Ford Chapel Cemetery, Newton.
He was born May 18, 1921 in Beech Grove, Tennessee, the son of Odie N. and Pearl Fultz Parker. Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Parker died Thursday, June 17, in Grace Care Center in Lufkin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Garcier Parker, Medford Parker and Hidalgo Parker; and sister, Marinda Rankin.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Parker; daughters, Peggy Wooten and April Parker, both of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Luce Parker of Lake Worth, Florida; grandsons, Bryan Wooten and wife, Gina, of Duncanville and Chad Wooten and wife, Lacy, of Waco; granddaughters, Tina Parker of Dallas and Karrie Parker of Orlando, Florida; great-grandson, Caleb Parker Wooten; and sisters, Mary Ellen McCullough of Beech Grove, Tennessee, Martha Gammille and Mayme Lane, both of Shelbyville, Tennessee, May Dean Barber of Nashville, Tennessee and Madge Cares of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Pallbearers were Randy Fults, Hank Fults, Jim DuBose, Andrew Bass and Charlie Martin.
Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, was in charge of arrangements.

TYSON
Thomas Brown Tyson, Jr. 75, passed away on Oct. 1, 2003.
Mr. Tyson was born in Point Blank on January 30, 1928.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen; daughter, Melissa Tyson of The Woodlands; son, Todd B. Tyson and wife Wendi, of Waco, Fred Paxton of Houston; grandsons, Garand and Wyatt Tyson of Waco; and sister Bess Tyson Blythe and husband William Blythe, Sr. of Huntsville.
Following distinguished service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Tom earned a B.B.A. from Sam Houston State College and J.D. from South  Texas College of Law. Tom served the City of Houston for 15 years, retiring as director of Public Service and then continued his career as a rate attorney with Entex, retiring in 1987.
After retirement, Tom returned to Point Blank where he was involved in the community as a volunteer with the fire department and EMS. He served as mayor of Point Blank and as a director of the Bank of San Jacinto County. He also provided pro bono legal services to the local community. Mr. Tyson was a staunch supporter of Habitat for Humanity and helped establish the local affiliate in San Jacinto County. He attended Coldspring United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4. Memorial donations may be made to the Habitat for Humanity of San Jacinto County, P.O. Box 1398, Coldspring, Tx 77331.
Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring was in charge of arrangements.

GRIFFING
Mary Ellen Griffing, 93, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003. She was born in Thurber,  Texas, October 7, 1909.
She is survived by her foster daughter, Dorothy Bills; grandchildren, Mary Carla McGraw, Carl B. Griffing Jr.; great-grandchildren, William Lee McGraw, Michael Carey McGraw, Hendrix Ian Sternbridge.
Funeral services were held Oct 7 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, with . Windle Kee officiating the chapel service. Burial followed at the Woodlawn memorial Cemetery, Houston, with Chaplain Bob Dunegan officiating graveside service.

BAKER
Bob D. Baker, 53, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at his residence in  Texas City.
Mr. Baker was born May 18, 1950 in Galveston. He was a purchasing agent/timekeeper with 30 years service for the  Texas City Railroad. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Baker of  Texas City; mother, Faye Baker of Coldspring; sons Bob Eric Baker and wife Andrea of Virginia and Kevin Ray Adkins and wife Ana of North Carolina; daughters Leslie Ann Baker of Coldspring, Christi Sue Adkins of Houston and Laura Rani Adkins of Huntsville; brother George Baker and wife Karen of Santa Fe; sister Vera Faye Brown and husband Rick of Coldspring; grandchildren Kevin Ray Adkins II, Cody Baker, Carly Baker, Ryan Copeland, Robby Copeland John Paul Adkins and James Adkins.
Following funeral services in  Texas City, interment was at Galeton Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
