Eunice Ruth Pennington
September 20, 2004
HOUSTON – Services for Eunice Ruth Pennington, 78, of Crosby and formerly of Trinity were held Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at the Carter Funeral Chapel in Houston with the Rev. Jerry Hovater officiating.
Burial followed in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pennington died Monday, Sept. 6.
Born Jan. 26, 1926, in Henderson, she was the daughter of Albert L. and Evia Lee Kelley. She was employed in her early years by Western Union Telegraph and for 25 years at Daniel Radiators in Houston as a computer operator.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Pennington; a brother, James Albert Kelley; and a sister, Wanda Jean Kelley.
Survivors include a son and his spouse, Glenn and Sharon Pennington of Lawton, Okla.; a daughter and her spouse, Mary Frances and John Martin of Crosby; two sisters and their spouses, Betty and Thurman Moore of Houston and Joy and Gilbert Pena of Raymore, Mo; three brothers and their spouses, B.J. and Carolyn Kelley of Florence, Ala., Buddy and Reba Kelly7 of Havanna, Ark., and Lloyd and Joyce Kelley of Cypress; five grandchildren, Kelly Walker, Scott Martin, Glenn Pennington Jr., Fred Lee Pennington and James Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Austin Walker, Makayla Walker, Kurstin Martin and Savannah Martin; eight nephews; and 10 nieces.
Carter Funeral Home of Houston directed the arrangements.

Concha Sanchez
September 20, 2004
TRINITY – Graveside services for Concha Sanchez, 96, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in the Forest Lawn Ceme-tery off FM 980 west of Riverside.
Father Tom Edelen of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Trinity officiated.
Mrs. Sanchez died Thursday, Sept. 9, in the East Texas Medical Center – Crockett.
A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes with Father Tom Edelen offici-ating.
She was born June 19, 1908, in El Paso.
Survivors include one daughter, Maria Douffield of Riverside.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Texana Medlock Stubblefield
September 20, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Texana Medlock Stubblefield, 105, of Trinity were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in the Lone Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug DeBose and the Rev. Dr. L.V. Roberts officiating.
Burial followed in the Trinity Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Stubblefield died Thursday, Sept. 9, in Trinity.
The daughter of Saulmon and Martha Medlock, she was born Feb. 9, 1899, in a small farming community called Blackland, five miles from the Weldon community on Highway 230. She was the youngest daughter of a cotton farmer who owned his own land. He mother was born just six months after slavery was abolished in Texas.
Out of her eight sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Stubblefield was the only one able to leave the Blackland Community to temporarily leave with a cousin. During that time, she attended school and graduated in 1926. She later attended Prairie View College.
She was married at the age of 40 to William Stubblefield, who died at a relatively young age due to cancer.
She lived for a year with a cousin in Galveston and later moved to Houston for seven years where she took care of a family and stayed in a garage apartment. After her stay there, she returned to Trinity, where she resided for the rest of her life.
She and her siblings built a house on Walker Street where she lived until Oct. 21, 2001. At that time, he failing health caused her to move to Avalon Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Trinity.
She joined the Methodist church at an early age and at the time of her death was a member of the Harris Chapel C.M.E. in Trinity.
While she was preceded in death by all her siblings, she is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara Nesmith Close
August 31, 2004
ABILENE – Private services for Barbara Nesmith Close, 81, were held Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Abilene with the Rev. Caro Russell of the United Aldersgate Methodist Church officiating.
She was born July 9, 1923, in Houston, daughter of the late Fred and Grace Nesmith. At a young age, she moved with her family to Riverside.
She was a graduate of Trin-ity High School and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. In 1946 she was married to Roland Close in Riverside.
Mrs. Close was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Robert and Kay Close, Mike and Cathy Close and Fred and Kaye Close; a sister-in-law, Peggy Nesmith of Huntsville; a sister, Catherine Ramey of Trinity; and six grandchil-dren.
Elliot-Hamlin Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Norbert F. Gausepohl
August 31, 2004
TRINITY – Private memorial services for Norbert F. Gausepohl, 86, of Trinity were held at noon Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in honor his favorite motion picture, “High Noon.”
Mr. Gausepohl died Thursday, Aug. 19, in ETMC-Crockett.
He was born July 27, 1918, in New Baden, Ill., the son of Peter and Theresa Lambert Gausepohl. During World War II her served in the U.S. Army infantry and was awarded two bronze stars and a purple heart.
Mr. Gausepohl was employed as an English professor and was enjoying his retirement, traveling with his son and daughter-in-law until a few weeks ago when he was admitted as a resident of Avalon Place Nursing Home in Trinity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and a son, Fred Gausepohl.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Gausepohl of Huntsville and Jerome and Cynthia Gausepohl of Gainesville, Ga.; six grandchildren, John, Andrew, Jason, Norbert, Lawrence and Christine; and several great-grandchildren.
Waller-Thornton Funeral home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Willa Fern Hoyt
August 31, 2004
TRINITY – Willa Fern Hoyt, 90, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Ella Smithers Nursing Home in Huntsville.
She will be buried in the Gore Cemetery in Gore, Okla., at a later date.
She was born July 2, 1914, in Neosho, Mo. and was employed as a drapery buyer for Montgomery Ward.
Survivors include six children, Charles E. Hoyt Jr. of Riverside, Janna Hoyt, Don S. Hoyt, Almeda Hoyt, Robert Hoyt and Bruce Hoyt; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the local arrangements.

Mario Moss Jr.
August 31, 2004
TRINITY – Graveside services for Mario Moss Jr., one-month old infant son of Amy Adams and Mario Moss of Trinity, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Goins officiating.
The child died Aug. 19 in the East Texas Medical Center -- Trinity.
He was born July 9, 2004, in Huntsville and had resided in Trinity all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Virginia Adams and a great-grandmother, Elnora Hollingsworth.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Kyndall Rae Hill of Trinity and Kierra Ja’Nae Hill of Trinity; a grandmother, Sandra Moss of Trinity; a grandfather, David Williams of Trinity; a step-grandmother, Norma Gray of Trinity; a great-grandmother, Gloria Moss of Trinity; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Callaway-Allee Funeral Home of Crockett directed the arrangements.

Laquita Smith
August 31, 2004
TRINITY – Services for Laquita Smith, 67, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Kenneth Myers officiating.
Ms. Smith died Friday, Aug. 20, at the John Sealy University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston.
She was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Lynn and was employed as a nurse.
Survivors include four children, Rhonda Sue Lee of Trinity, Teena Hargrave of Houston, Erin Smith of Trinity and Harold J. Romero of New Iberia, La.; four grandchildren, Rodney, Jeffery, Michael and Lizzie Joy; and a special cousin, Joyce Harter of Houston.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Katelyn Paige Andrews
August 31, 2004
HUNTSVILLE – Services for Katelyn Paige Andrews, infant daughter of Mitch and Paige Gray Andrews, were held at 11 a.m. Sat-urday, Aug. 14, 2004, in the gazebo of Brooke Cemetery on FM 980 with Bob Payne officiating.
Burial followed in Brooke Cemetery.
The child died Aug. 11, in Norfolk, Va.
She was born June 13, 2004.
Survivors include her parents; a sister, Lauren Gray Andrews; her grandparents, Don and Loretta Andrews of Huntsville; Greg and Linda Beech of Seaford, Va., and Dennis and Kathy Gray of Edwards, Miss.; uncles and aunts, Rusty and Terra Gray of Clinton, Miss., Josh Gray of Jackson, Miss., Michael Kinslow and Alex Gray of Edwards, Miss, and Adam and Charlotte Snowden of Hunts-ville; and numerous cousins, other family members and friends.
Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home of Huntsville directed the arrangements.
