Nellie Louise Gilbertson

Services for Nellie Louise Gilbertson, 79, of Bellaire, were at 2 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating. Burial followed at Palestine City Cemetery.
Mrs. Gilbertson died Sunday at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924, in San Antonio to Murray Grinnell and Mollie Elizabeth Gray.
Mrs. Gilbertson was a nurse and was employed as a LVN at Houston Memorial Hospital. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a PFC during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Axel Gilbertson in 1999; and sons, Murray Gilbertson and Allen Gilbertson.
Mrs. Gilbertson is survived by daughter, Deborah Gray of Bellaire; son, David Gilbertson of Huntsville; sister, Ruth Evelyn Missildine of Palestine; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

T.A. Hassell

Services for T.A. Hassell, 76, of the Percilla community, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Evergreen Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Kenny Bush and Loyd Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Hassell died Saturday at his residence.
He was born April 17, 1926, in Cherokee County to Thomas Albert Hassell Sr. and Mittie Mae Foster Hassell.
Mr. Hassell was a member of the Percilla Community Church. He owned Hassell’s Service Station for 18 years. He was an agent for Farmers Mutual Insurance Protective Association of Texas. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, R.L. Hassell and Leroy Hassell.
Mr. Hassell is survived by his wife, Louise Hassell of Grapeland; daughters, Anita Johnson of Caldwell and Tamra Jo Huff of Grapeland; son, Jamie Smith of Grapeland; sister, Eva Mae Parsons of Alto; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Parsons, Larry Parsons, Brett Parsons, Tim Parsons, Thomas Johnson, Ron Johnson, Steve Johnson and Taylor Huff.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Theora Brown

Funeral arrangements for Theora Brown, 84, of Grapeland, are pending at Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mrs. Brown died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Donna Constabile

Funeral arrangements for Donna Constabile, 52, are pending at Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Ms. Constabile died Saturday at a Tyler hospital.

Bobby Stephens

Services for Bobby West Stephens, 58, of Frankston will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hilliard Funeral Home in Van with Rev. Louie Barron officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Stephens died Monday in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 9, 1945 in Ben Wheeler.
Formerly of Chandler and Tyler, Mr. Stephens had been a resident of Frankston since November 1977. He was a truck driver for 17 years and owned and operated Bobby’s Automotive & Machine Shop for 18 years. He was a Methodist and graduated from Van High School.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Stephens; sister, Margaret Bradford; and brother-in-law, Truett Bradford.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Martha Stephens of Frankston; sons, Greg Stephens of Chicago, Hank Stephens of Palestine, Billy Meazell II of Nacogdoches and Steven Meazell of Neches; daughter, Charlotte Armstrong of Neches; mother Jimmie Stephens; brother J. Allen Stephens of Frankston; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jorden, Jim Norris, Butch Hefelfinger, Joel Johnson, Gene Williams and Henry Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McCully, Wayne Hedman, E.F. Klein, Al Brooks and the drivers of Tyler Pipe.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.

Dennis W. Julian

Services for Dennis W. Julian, 50, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Dale Osteen officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sonora Cemetery in Hunt County with the Rev. David Fortenbury officiating.
Mr. Julian died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1952, in Dallas to Alvie Ray and Mary Lou Adams Julian.
Mr. Julian was a sixth-grade teacher at Westwood Elementary School where he had taught for two years. He was a member and the minister of music at First Baptist Church of Buffalo.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Darlene Julian of Palestine; his parents, Ray and Mary Lou Julian of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Deanna Julian of Houston; sons, Daniel Julian of Abilene and David Julian of Palestine; brothers, Don Julian of Waco and Randy Julian of Colorado Springs, Colo.
In honor of Dennis Julian the family would like to recognize the members of the Adult Choir of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lanierette Bishop

Lanierette Bishop, 59, of Elkhart, died March 5 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Her remains will be cremated.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lanier R. Bishop and LaVerne Curtis Bishop; brother, Bobby Ray Bishop Sr.; four uncles and four aunts.
Ms. Bishop is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Leanora “Lea” and John Rosier of Palestine; brother, Lanier R. Bishop Jr. of Houston; two uncles, three aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeremiha “Bub” David Bailey

Services for Jeremiha “Bub” David Bailey, 18, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Seago officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Bailey died Sunday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born May 29, 1983, in Conroe to Lorna Bailey and Charles Norman Rice Jr.
Mr. Bailey was a member of Long Lake Baptist Church and a 2001 graduate of Westwood High School. He was assistant manager at the Dry Cleaning Super Center in Palestine.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carol Bailey.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his mother, of Palestine; father, of Crowley; stepfather, Stacy Gibson of Palestine; sisters, Tonya Powell of Palestine and Cassondra Rice of Crowley; grandmother, Fay Hillstead of Tomball; and grandfather, Dale Bailey of Neches.
Pallbearers will be Mike Gentry, Bill Hightower, Jeff Hogg, Jesse James, Clay Jones and Curtis Sammons.
Honorary pallbearers will be David McClendon, Brad Reed and Chris Salyer.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joseph Collins

Services for Joseph Durwood Collins, 83, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. David Bergman officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Collins died Saturday at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
He was born Aug. 8, 1918 in Deridder, La. to Doc and Lutisha Yocom Collins.
Formerly of Houston, he moved to Palestine in 1980.
Mr. Collins was a Baptist. He was a retired welder from M&J Valve Equipment Company in Houston. He was a member of the local VFW. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Gladys Collins of Palestine; sons, Terry Collins of Houston, Maurice Hooks of Navasota and Douglas Hooks of Houston; daughters, Patricia Jewel Collins Schultz of Palestine and Shirley Ann Miller of Lake Jackson; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie McCrummen, Roger Durden, Jackie Sims, Howard Sims, Johnny Ray Waggoner and Kevin Collins.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

W.C. Bud Thomas

Services for W.C. “Bud” Thomas, 91, of Frankston, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Palestine with the Rev. David Bergman officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Thomas died Sunday in Frankston.
He was born March 31, 1911 in Chicago to Charles H. and Mabel Valentine Thomas. He moved to Palestine in 1953.
Mr. Thomas retired from William George Produce Co. in 1973. He moved to Lake Palestine in 1978. He was an elder at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He belonged to the Holy City Riders motorcycle club until the age of 79.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Thomas and John P. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 56 years, Aleene Mixer Thomas of Frankston; daughter, Janis Kay Honeycutt of Grapevine; brother, Charles Thomas of Rogers, Ark.; and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Martin Honeycutt, Christopher Honeycutt, Kennedy Hawkins and Allen McClurd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Frey and Homer Woody.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lowell Tarrant

Services for Lowell Tarrant, 86, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roselawn Park with the Rev. Gregory Megill officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Tarrant died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 7, 1915 in Bullard to Richard Elem and Agnes Arilla Barwick Tarrant.
Mr. Tarrant was the manager for Tarrant Lumber Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Tarrant was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Tarrant; four brothers, Duel Tarrant, Alvis Tarrant, Thadus Tarrant and Melba Gene Tarrant.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Tarrant of Palestine; a son, Mickey Tarrant of Fort Worth; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Johnny Thomas Lipscomb Jr.

Services for Johnny Thomas Lipscomb Jr., 70, of Conroe, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bill Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Lipscomb died Sunday at Conroe Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 26, 1931 in Palestine to Johnny Thomas and Lillie Izetta McCann Lipscomb.
Mr. Lipscomb was a shipping superintendent for Borden. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in New Caney. He was a mason.
Mr. Lipscomb is survived by his wife, Muriel Lipscomb of Conroe; daughters, Cheryl Swearingin, Diane McVey, Paula O’Brien and Tonya Lipscomb, all of Conroe; a son, Johnny Thomas Lipscomb III of Conroe; sisters, Irene Ives of Houston, Georgia Lee Stovall of Elkhart and Marie Malone of Palestine; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy McVey, Garland Wayne Franklin Jr., David Franklin, Lois Johnson, Johnny Brown and Bobby Stovall.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tommy Chapman

Services for Tommy Chapman, 62, of Grapeland, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. David Bradley and Kennith Mobley officiating. Burial was in Davis Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Chapman died Friday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was born July 23, 1939 in Livingston to J. Kelley Chapman and Opal Lawrence Chapman.
Mr. Chapman was a member of First Baptist Church in Slocum. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired after 29 years as a rural mail carrier.
Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Opal Chapman of Grapeland; wife, Paulette Chapman of Grapeland; daughter, Christy Bartlett of Tyler; sons, Todd Chapman of Tyler, Jeff Chapman of Palestine and J. Kelley Chapman of Sherman; sister, Dee Ann Reppond of Lafayette, La.; brothers, Lawrence Ray Chapman of Arlington and Frank Chapman of Grapeland; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Byers, David Byers Jr., Darin Byers, Dane Byers, Eddie Childress, Preston G. Lively, and Hilary Ray Jr.
Honorary pallbearer was Bob Lawrence.

Minnie Mae Martin

Services for Minnie Mae Martin, 67, of Mexia will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague. Burial will follow in the Oakwood City Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin died Monday at her home.
She was born Nov. 10, 1934 in Oakwood.
Mrs. Martin attended Dunbar High School. She was retired from St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston after 27 years. She moved to Mexia in 1994. She was a member of Henry Chapel AME Church in Oakwood.
She is survived by two children, Matthew Roberts II of Dallas and Cynthia Gatewood of Lubbock; her mother and stepfather, Ocie Lee Daniels and Joe Daniels of Oakwood; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
