Cook
Prather Leroy Cook, 92, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004.
Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Samuel R. Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Mineral Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Robinson, Bill Arms, Arnold Banta and Lee Goetz.
Mr. Cook was born in Mineral on Dec. 13, 1911, to Walter Thomas and Melissa Ann (Manning) Cook. He resided in Beeville and was a Baptist and a retired oilfield worker. He was a veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of Normandy. Mr. Cook was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jake, Chester and Bud Cook, and two sisters, Jewel Tiner and Violet Rizzo.
Survivors include his sister, Alice Thurmon Marshall and husband Roscoe of Kingsland; three nephews, Bruce Allen and wife Betty of Freer, Bill Thurmon and wife Cindy of Kingsland, and Gerald Thurmon and wife Theresa of  South Carolina; and a niece, Jinee Rizzo of Austin.

Garcia
Benita L. Garcia, 85, died Sunday, April 11, 2004.
The family received friends on Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home in Mathis with a prayer service that evening at 7:30. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at Templo Gethsemani in Mathis. Burial will follow at Descanso Eterno Cemetery No. 2.
Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by five sisters, Matilda Peña, Felecita Zapata, San Juanita Nava and Josefa M. Gonzales; five brothers, Doroteo, Anatacio and Agapito Lopez, Encarnacion and Mercedes Alfaro; and three stepchildren, Alejandro, Alfredo and Manuel Garcia.
Survivors include a son, David (Gloria) Alvarez of Mathis; a sister, Amelia Villarreal of Beeville; a brother, Cipriano Lopez of Lamesa; four stepchildren, Jose Garcia Jr. of Livingston, Herminia Nieto and Elena Villarreal, both of Mathis, and Juanita Montez of Levelland; three grandchildren, Jorge and Susie Alvarez and Miroslava Arrizola; and four great-grandchildren, Armando Martinez Jr., Ashley, Charlene and Jason Martinez.
Arrangements were handled through Treviño Funeral Home, Mathis.

Garcia
Cruz Treviño Garcia, 77, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville following a long illness.
She was born in Edroy and had resided most of her life in Beeville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Erasmo Garcia of Beeville; two sons, Jerry Robert (Yolanda) Fira of Beeville and Junie Treviño of Pueblo,  Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home chapel in Sinton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the same location. Interment will follow in the Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.
Arrangements were handled through Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home, Sinton.

Muñoz
Mariano Muñoz Jr., 44, died Friday, April 9, 2004.
Rosary was recited on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in Clareville’s San Pedro Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Hernandez, Ramiro Ruiz, Albert Ruiz, Reymundo Garcia, Marcus Ruiz and Michael Garcia. Honorary pallbearers were Elly Hernandez, Martin Muñoz and Elsa Muñoz.
Mr. Muñoz was born in Mathis on March 15, 1960, to Mariano Sr. and Aurora (Ruiz) Muñoz. He was self-employed as a farmer and a member of the Catholic church. He was an A.C.  Jones High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the St. James choir.
Survivors include his parents; his sister, Elly (Michael) Hernandez of Beeville; a brother, Martin (Elsa) Muñoz; three nieces and a nephew.

Smith
Elmer Dean Smith, 49, of George West died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Oakville. He was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Corpus Christi to Charles and Helen (Smith) Smith. He married Sherrie Lane on May 19, 2000, in Live Oak County. Mr. Smith was a salesman for Zales in Corpus Christi and a member of the Oakville Baptist Church. He was a former employee of the Beeville Publishing Co.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Smith of George West; a daughter, Rebekah McFatridge of Corpus Christi; a son, Derick Dean Smith of Corpus Christi; a brother, C.K. Smith of Corpus Christi; and two grandchildren, Audrey McFatridge and Jaxon Rankin, both of Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers.
The funeral will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Oakville Baptist Church in Oakville with the Rev. Tommy Stogner officiating. Burial will follow at the Seaside Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 4 p.m.

Alcorta
Antonio T. Alcorta Sr., 71, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Corpus Christi.
Rosary was held on Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore, with Father Shaji Vareghese officiating. Burial followed at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore. Pallbearers were Juan Alcorta, Daniel Alcorta, Johnny Carabajal Jr., Keith Starr, Jose Alcorta and Enrique Salinas. Honorary pallbearers were Rudy Salinas and Jesse Alcorta.
Mr. Alcorta was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Alcorta and Francisca Trejo; one brother, Manuel Alcorta, and his father-in-law, Rosendo Carabajal.
He was born in Beeville on July 17, 1932 and resided in Skidmore. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a retired heavy equipment operator with Heldenfels Construction for 25 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Baselisa Carabajal Alcorta of Skidmore; two daughters, Rachel (Frank) Ramoz and Elena (Eddie) Salas, both of Skidmore; one son, Antonio (Judy) Alcorta Jr. of Corpus Christi; one sister, Isaabel (Guadalupe) Almendarez of Skidmore; two brothers, Guadalupe (Trine) and Pablo (Maria) Alcorta, both of Beeville; four grandchildren, William and Kevin Ramoz; A. Salas Jr. and Mayra Salas; his mother-in-law, Timotea Carabajal of Skidmore; and his sister-in–law, Lupe Alcorta.

De Leon
Adela Silva De Leon, 64, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pablo De Leon, Santiago and Luis Silva and Erasmo, Jaime and Roberto De Leon.
Mrs. De Leon was born in Sabinas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Jan. 21, 1940, to Romulo and Genoveva (Benitez) Silva. She resided in Beeville and was a housewife and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto De Leon Sr., who died on March 12, 2002.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria Elizabeth and Glenda Josefina De Leon and Jacqueline De Leon Longoria, all of Beeville; her sons, Erasmo and Jaime Isaias De Leon, both of Beeville, and Roberto De Leon Jr. of Pettus; two brothers, Luis and Santiago Silva, both of Sabinas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Hernandez
Anthony “Tony” Hernandez, 44, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004.
He was a graduate of A.C.  Jones High School and presently employed at Children’s Hospital in Austin as an emergency technician. He received an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Bee County College. He was awarded CPR instructor of the year in Austin. Mr. Hernandez was a director and supervisor of EMS, Rural Metro, Bee County, Karnes County and Live Oak County. He was also a reserve officer with the Beeville Police Department.
Survivors include his wife, Glena Moses Hernandez of Austin; three sons, Tony Hernandez of Austin, Juan Carlos Hernandez of Beeville and David Hernandez of Euless; his father, Herman Hernandez of Beeville; one brother, Paul (Robin) Hernandez of Pflugerville; and his paternal grandmother, Adela Hernandez of Beeville..
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on May 28 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on May 29 at the same location. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Kenny Krell, Ken Hedrick, Bill McConnico, Terry Gonzales, Jorge Alvarez, Tim Teboe, Gabriel Aleman, Orlando Hernandez and Victor Gomez. Honorary pallbearers were members of Halo-Flight.

Killeen
Raymond Killeen, 76, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
Private family services will be observed.
Mr. Killeen was born on Jan. 16, 1928, in Laurel, Mont., to Edmond and Mary Lou Killeen. He married Goldie Christensen in Marvel, Ark., in 1969. He resided in Beeville and was a self-employed welder/diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Killeen of Beeville; a son, Daniel Joseph Killeen of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Veronica Lucille Killeen of Reno, Nev., and Elizabeth Christine Killeen; three step-children, Christine Kyser and Stephen and Robert Mercer, all of Grass Valley,  Calif.; two grandchildren, Shavon Mattillo of Holiday, Fla., and Eric Killeen of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter.

Morrison
Delton C. “Dub” Morrison, 71, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Christian Center, with the Rev. Gary  Johnson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bob Tomlinson. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Peter English, Reggie and Jeffrey Massengill, Keith Treadwell and Rick Coronado.
Mr. Morrison was born in St. Gabriel on May 24, 1933, to O.C. and Ida Lee (Pratt) Morrison. He married Jacqueline Griswold on Dec. 29, 2001, in Beeville. He was a member of Trinity Christian Center and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a retired employee with Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville, serving as a maintenance operator and safety officer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vernon Lee Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie C. Morrison of Beeville; two daughters, Julie M. English of Stow, Ohio, and Patrice Morrison Treadwell of McDade; three brothers, George Weldon Morrison of San Antonio, Danny Jack Morrison of Denim Springs, La., and William R. Morrison of Dripping Springs; four sisters, Millie Marie Eason of San Antonio, Joy Anna Brandt and Patsy Jo Knapp, both of Austin, and Geneva Orie Beasley of Acton; four grandchildren, Jonathan C. and Keith R. English and Treavor Keith and Kaylie Lauren Treadwell; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Franke
Eunice Locker Thames Franke, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004.
Visitation will be held today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will be observed at 2 p.m. the same day at the funeral home with Mr. Vic Barris officiating. Special music will include “How Great Thou Art” and “The Lord’s Prayer” by organist and singer Doug Burton. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Franke was born in Mineral on July 11, 1912, to J.H. and Lyda (Harris) Thames. She married Milton Franke in Bee County on July 27, 1935. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Beeville for 70 years.
She had resided in Sacramento,  Calif. for the past two years. She was the former owner of F&A Cleaners. She was a seamstress and a homemaker. She enjoyed ceramics and needlework of all kinds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Franke, her parents, J.H. and Lyda Thames, her brothers, Glen, Robert, Harold, Joe and Calvin, and sisters, Corine, Mary Sue and Pearl.
Survivors include her daughter, Darlyne and Bruce Fite of Sacramento,  Calif.; three grandchildren, Chet and Cara Fite of Sacramento,  Calif.; Sharon and Randy Mayfield of Ballwin, Mo. and Teresa and Charlie Barry of Fresno,  Calif.; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Chase and Kristen Fite of Sacramento,  Calif., Amanda and Justin Mayfield of Ballwin, Mo. and Alex Barry of Fresno,  Calif.
