Mrs. Canada>/B>
Jessie Ann Canada peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2007.
Jessie Ann was born the sixth child to Jessie and Maude Green on October 24, 1932 in Harwood,  Texas. Jessie Ann moved to Beeville in 1958 where she met and married Amos “Bud” Canado on March 8, 1963. She was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Training Union Director for many years. She was employed by NAS Chase Field until its closing, thereafter becoming a homemaker.
Her husband, parents, a sister, Henrietta Robert, and a brother, Jim Greene, preceded her in death.
Jessie Ann will be missed and remembered by two sisters, Overzina “Tee” Garden of Roswell, New Mexico, Juanita Cunningham of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Carter Ray Green of San Angelo,  Texas; 20 nieces and nephews; her special friend, Princess, whom she so dearly cared for; and a host of loving family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 15, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Rendell Tarver officiating. “Precious Lord,” “Amazing Grace,” and “I’ll Fly Away” will be rendered by the Bethlehem Choir. Interment will follow at Saint Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nolan Easterling, Lionel Hodge, Charles Hodge Jr., Mitchel Smith, Bernard  Johnson and Marty Virata.

Mr. Caraway
John W. “Casey” Caraway, 75, passed away on March 11, 2007, at a local hospital following multiple illnesses.
John was born on March 3, 1932, in Leesville,  Texas; however, he lived most of his life in Luling,  Texas.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Caraway; his father, Harl Caraway; a sister, Bonnie Dell Brymer; a baby brother; and his first wife, Patricia Kreis, for whom John cared for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Margaret Caraway, and his son, Mark W. Caraway (Teresa). He is also survived by one granddaughter, Madisyn Caraway; a niece Bonnie Beth of Katy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
John graduated from Darst Creek High School near Luling,  Texas. He attended the University of Corpus Christi from 1950 to 54. He graduated in 1959. He went into the Army Corp where he became an instructor of battlefield medicine at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio,  Texas.
John was bi-vocational and taught school for 25 years. He taught in LaVernia and Beeville until his retirement in 1983.
John followed his calling to preach the gospel in rural Southern Baptist churches for 42 years. He pastored at LaVernia, Harmony/Karnes City, Paplote, Normanna, and his last church in Santa Rosa,  Texas.
While pastoring at Papalote, John met and married Patricia Jean Kreis in 1961. They had a son, Mark William, born in 1963. John was admired by all who knew him for his tender love and care of Pat until her death in 1974, at age 30. In 1976, Pat’s family encouraged John in dating and falling in love with Mary Margaret Patterson, a friend from UCC days. When John and Mary Margaret married in June of 1977, Pat’s family hosted their rehearsal dinner to express their joy. John and Mary Margaret have shared almost 30 years of happiness.
John was a member of First Baptist Church. He dearly loved his church and all his friends there. John loved the Lord and everyone who knew him knew this just by being near him.
He wrote inspirational articles for Open Windows Magazine and for several newspapers. Magazine writing became his calling in his retirement years. He authored three booklets of poems and stories, many dedicated to Mary Margaret, who was his inspiration.
Services were held at First Baptist Church Chapel on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Papalote Cemetery in Papalote,  Texas at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will include Jay Hroch, David Treiber, Brian Cooksey, Gene Coppin, J.D. Hoffer and Raymond Sexton.
A viewing of John and visitation with family took place on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Home on Everhart Road.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church if desired.

Mr. Carrasco
Jose G. Carrasco, 82, of Olton, formerly of Beeville, died Friday, March 9, 2007, in Lubbock. He was born May 8, 1924, in Edroy. He married Estella Garcia on Dec. 4, 1942, in Bee County. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Carrasco, in 2003.
Survivors include six sons, Dionisio Carrasco of Dallas, Salvador Carrasco of Crosbyton and Rosendo Carrasco, Rolando Carrasco, Manuel Carrasco and Joe Carrasco, all of Olton; four daughters, Sofia Garcia, Rosa Garcia and Lupe Carrasco, all of Olton, and Diana Aleman of Beeville; three sisters, Elena Herrera of Denton, Carmen Herrera of Belton and Teodora Campos of Lubbock; 67 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Sunday evening at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olton. The funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with Father John Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Olton Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home in Olton.

Mrs. Cumpian
Mrs. Felipa (Campos) Cumpian, 55, died Friday, March 9, 2007, in a Beeville nursing home.
Mrs. Cumpian was born Oct. 5, 1951, in Beeville to Marcos and Francisca (Briseño) Campos. She graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1971 and was engaged in management.
Mrs. Cumpian was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
Survivors include her husband Johnny Cumpian of Beeville; her mother, Francisca Campos of Beeville; two sons, John Lewis and Jason Lucas Cumpian both of Beeville; two brothers, Marcos Jr. (Gracie) Campos and Miguel Campos both of Beeville; eight sisters, Yolanda Flores, Olga (Tony) Flores, Lucy Flores (Alberto Salazar) and Jo Ann (Santos ) Cardona all of Beeville, Josie (Edward) Flores of Berclair, Mary (Richard) Perales of Bay City, Elvia (Gilbert) Amaro of Lolita and Nohemi (Ben) Wilson of College Station; and five grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Trevino Funeral Home chapel. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Blanconia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were T.J. Flores, Justin Flores, Orlando “Butch” Flores, Armando “Glo” Flores, B.F. Flores, Felix Jay Flores and Eric Amaro. Honoary pallbearers were her nieces and nephews.

Mr. Garcia
Mr. Eliseo Garcia, 101, of Skidmore, died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville following a sudden illness.
Mr. Garcia was born Feb. 8, 1906, in San Diego,  Texas to the late Ramon and Abelicia (Santellana) Garcia.
Survivors include seven daughters, Herminia Lara, Dora (Pablo) Gonzales, Sara (Agapito) Gonzales and Guadalupe (Laugro Jr.) Gonzales, all of Skidmore, Lucia Garza and Lorenza Salinas, both of Beeville, and Baudelia (Bob) Hanson of Corpus Christi; four sons, Arturo Camargo of Kentucky, Adolfo (Delia) Camargo and Jose (Anita) Garcia both of Beeville, adn Daniel Garcia of Bloomington; 54 grandchildren, 148 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his wife, Florentina (Villlarreal) Garcia; three brothers, Crispin, Anestacio, and Isidro Garcia; five sisters, Carmela, Espidia, Micaela, Sara adn Maria; one son, Enrique Cantu; two daughters-in-law, Isabel Camargo and Tomasa Garcia; five sons-in-law, Eugenio Garcia, Victor Lara, and Tony Salinas; three grandchildren, Vidal Garcia, Arturo Camargo Jr. and Gerardo Garcia; and four great-grandchildren, Jericho Garcia, Jacob, Samuel, and Hector Lara Jr.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Trevino Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Guadalupe Garcia, Danny Garcia, Ray Gonzales, Arnulfo Gonzales, Angel Garcia, and Laugro Gonzales Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Arturo Lara Jr. and Teles Flores Jr.

Mrs. Gonzales
Adelfa (Galvez) Gonzales, 75, of Beeville died Sunday, March 11, 2007.
Mrs. Gonzales was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Beeville to Trinidad and Severa (Zuniga) Galvez. She married Emilio Gonzales in 1957 in Beeville. She served as an office clerk with Bee Community Action Agency and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she assisted in the nursery. She was a greeter at Wal-Mart and was employed as a clerk for Judges Jose Aliseda Jr. and Jimmy Martinez at the Bee County Courthouse.
Mrs. Gonzales was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Severa Galvez; three sisters, Celia Garcia, Elida G. Ramirez and Minerva Martinez; and a brother, Trinidad Galvez Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Emilio V. Gonzales Sr. of Beeville; two daughters, Mary Ann (Efrain) Escamilla of Rio Grande City and Robbie Ann (Jose III) Cantu of Beeville; a son, Emilio V. (Judith) Gonzales Jr. of Beeville; nine grandchildren, Eren Escamilla, Daniella Escamilla, Derrick Mata, Brandon Mata, Destiny Perez, Riana Cantu, Justin Gonzales, Pamela Gonzales and Jason Coffeen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home. The funeral was held this morning (Wednesday) at 10 o’clock at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Duke and the Rev. Vivian  Woods officiating. Organist Lucille Kinkler played “Jesus Loves Me” and “Old Rugged Cross.”
Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Emilio Gonzales Jr., Efrain Escamilla Jr., Justin Gonzales, Jason Coffeen, Eren Escamilla and Justin Oshel.

Mr. Jenkins
William “Bill” H. Jenkins Jr., 76, of Victoria died Monday, March 12, 2007.
Mr. Jenkins was born Nov. 18, 1930 in Beeville, to the late William H. and Irma Bate Jenkins Sr. He was a graduate of Rice University and was a stockbroker for Paine Webber/UBS. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Victoria and served as an elder and deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jenkins of Victoria; a daughter, Nancy Jenkins Breyne and husband, Mark, of Newnan, Ga.; a son, William H. Jenkins III and wife, Deborah, of Centennial,  Colo.; two sisters, Nancy Stewart of Greenville, SC and Sally Sutley of Houston; four grandchildren, Donald R. and Dennis R. Breyne and Matthew D. and Kathryn S. Jenkins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday). The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Vanessa Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria.
Pallbearers will be Bill Stewart, Bob Stewart, Chris Sutley, Ray Sutley, Jeff Pratt and Joe Braman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet, Victoria,  Texas 77904.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria.

Mr. Robinson
Jack L. Robinson, 88, of Beeville, died Friday, March 9, 2007. He was born in Live Oak County on Feb. 15, 1919, to Robert Lee and Mary Mitchell Robinson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and rancher and served 16 years as Bee County sheriff. He was a member of the American Legion for 60-plus years.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, John Michael Robinson, in 2003.
He is survived by one daughter, Jana L. Robinson of Orange Grove.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Doug Burton provided musical selections.
Burial followed in the Gussettville Cemetery in Live Oak County.
Pallbearers were Harold McCown, James McCown, Butch Smith, Terry Williamson, Dudley Thoms, Bobby Robinson, Ted Snelling, Egan Stelzer and Eddie Houlihan.
Honorary pallbearers were A.G. Holt, John Griffing, Lee Goetz, Genevieve Roell, Teresa Holland, Ted Staples, “Coffee Club” friends, Members of American Legion Post 274 and Adult Sunday School class.
