CALVERT - William Alfred (Alf) December 12, peacefully in hospital after a short illness. Alf, aged 81 years, formerly of Trimdon Village, a dearly beloved dad, devoted grandad and great-grandad. Service and cremation to take place on Wednesday, December 19 at Stranton Grange Crematorium Chapel, Hartlepool at 11.00 a.m. Friends and neighbours are kindly invited. Re-united with his loved ones.

CHADWICK - December 9, of St. Helens, Auckland. John (Chad), aged 56 years, dearly beloved husband of Joan, much loved dad of Jonathan and partner Angela, also a dear grandad, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Will friends please meet for service in St. Helen's Church at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, December 17, followed by cremation at Durham. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu may, if desired, be given to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

CHRISTON - December 8, (suddenly, at home), of South Kilvington, Thirsk. Maurice, aged 73 years. Beloved husband of Frances, loving father of Trevor and Bridget and a much loved grandad to Callie, Joe and Ben. The funeral service will be held at Darlington Crematorium on Wednesday December 19, at 1.45 p.m. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to, The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

COOK - December 8 (peacefully), of Binchester (formerly of Newfield). Peggy, aged 91 years, beloved wife of the late George William, loving mam of Colin, Margaret and the late Joan, dear mother-in-law of Alan, Myra and Chas, also a devoted nana, great-nana and great-great-nana. Friends please meet for service in St. Peter's Church, Byers Green on Monday, December 17 at 12.00 noon, followed by interment in St. Peter's Churchyard.

COOKE - November 29, (passed away peacefully at Barnett General Hospital), formerly of Strathaven, Springwell Avenue, Durham. Clarence Frederick, aged 90 years. Father to Peter and Judith and sadly missed by all his family. Friends please meet for service at St. Cuthbert's Church, North Road, Durham on Friday December 14, at 11.30 a.m. prior to cremation at Durham Cremator ium. COOPER - Robert Frederick (Fred) aged 81 years, on December 8 (peacefully in hospital), of Leyburn and formerly of Ulshaw Farm, Middleham. Beloved husband of Barbara, very dear father of John and Freda and much loved by all the family. Funeral service at Spennithorne Church, 12.00 noon on Saturday, December 15. Friends please meet at the church. No flowers please. Plate in church for donations.

CURL - December 8, (peacefully, in Redworth House Nursing Home, Shildon), formerly of West Lane, Bishop Auckland. Muriel, (nee Wilson), aged 79 years. Loving wife of the late Frank, devoted mam of Alan, Yvonne and Angela, dear mother-in-law of June, Robert and Derek, much loved nana of Nicola, Terri-Leigh, Shaun, Jade, Paige and Rebecca, great-grandma of Lauren, Sophie and Henry-Joe. Cortege leaving daughter's residence on Friday December 14, at 1.45 p.m. for service in St. Anne's Church, Bishop Auckland at 2.00 p.m. followed by interment in Bishop Auckland Cemetery.

D'ARCY - December 11, at home, of The Green, Hurworth. Dermot Joseph, aged 87 years, beloved husband of the late Eveline, dearly loved father of the late Patricia, also a much loved grandfather and great-grandfather. Funeral Thursday, December 20. Friends please meet for service at Darlington Crem-atorium at 11.15 a.m. No flowers please.

DAVISON - (formerly Wright, nee Bussey). On December 13 (peacefully in hospital), of Newton Aycliffe formerly of Shildon. Mary, aged 70 years, beloved wife of George, devoted mum of Karen, Alison and the late Kevin, also a much loved mother-in-law and nana. Would friends please meet for service at St. John's Church, Shildon on Thursday, December 20 at 1.30 p.m., prior to a private cremation at Durham Crematorium. Floral tributes may be sent to John Meynell Funeral Service, Stephenson Way, Newton Aycliffe.

DENT - December 6, peacefully at Newtown House Nursing Home, Stanhope, late of Hill Terrace, Middleton-in-Teesdale. John George (Jack), aged 91 years, dearly loved husband of the late Ida and a very special uncle. Friends please meet for service at Middleton Methodist Church on Saturday, December 15 at 11.00 a.m., to be followed by interment at St. Mary's Churchyard.

DIXON - On December 12 (peacefully in hospital), of Mount Drive, Leyburn and formerly of Halfpenny House. Freda, aged 84 years, dearly loved wife of Joe, very dear mother of Mary, Ella and Jean, much loved mother-in-law of Geoff, Tom and John, treasured grandma of Stuart, Alison, Jean, Thomas, Karen, Rachael and Laura, loving great-grandma of Maisie and Charlotte and beloved sister of Stanley and William. Funeral service to be held at St. Michael and All Angels' Church, Downholme on Wednesday, December 19 at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment in the churchyard. Family flowers only please, however, donations in memory of Freda, if so desired, may be given at the service for the Church and Yorkshire Cancer Research. Will friends please meet at the church and accept this intimation.

FIRTH - December 13, peacefully in hospital. Charles, aged 70 years, of Thirsk, beloved husband of Wendy, a dearly loved father and grandad. Private service and cremation to take place on Friday, December 21 at Darlington Crematorium.

FOULDS - Peacefully in hospital on December 9, aged 71 years. John Witham Foulds, of North Bitchburn and long time doctor at Bishop Auckland General Hospital. Beloved husband of Greta, devoted dad of Ralph and Paul and with family in Ireland and Finland. Friends are invited to meet for a service of thanksgiving in Durham Crematorium to start at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15. Family flowers only please. Donations may, if desired, be left with the family or at the crematorium for the Respiratory Unit, at Bishop Auckland General Hospital.

FOX - December 12, suddenly in hospital, of Heath Road, Middlestone Moor. Margaret (nee Pickering), aged 44 years, much loved wife of Ray, dearly loved daughter of Tom and Marjorie and a loving stepmam and grandma. A very special lady who will be greatly missed by her devoted family and many dear friends. Will friends please meet for service at Rosa Street Methodist Chapel, Spennymoor on Thursday, December 20 at 9.45 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu for the Diabetic Society in memory of Margaret.

Alfred George (Alf), aged 87 years, beloved husband of the late June, much loved father of Anne, Pat, Marie, John, Lesley, David, Tony, Michael and Andrea and a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother. Bessie, aged 89 years, beloved wife of the late Francis, devoted mam of Joan and Norma, dear mother-in-law to Peter and the late Keith, much loved gran and Billy Row gran, also a dear sister of Margaret. Will friends please meet for service in Woolley Terrace Methodist Church at 1.45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, followed by interment in Crook Cemetery.

HOGARTH - December 12, of Simpson Terrace, Rookhope. Sydney, aged 75 years, dearly loved husband of the late Edith Joan, loving father of Stuart and Gary, father-in-law and grandad. Will friends please meet for service in St. John's Church, Rookhope on Thursday, December 20 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to the British Heart Foundation which may be left at Rookhope W.M.C. where all are welcome for refreshments afterwards.
