John (Big John), aged 86 years, of Spring Court, Darlington, a loving, devoted husband to Nellie, much loved dad to Pauline, Linda and Michael, also a dearly loved grandad and great-grandad. Funeral Friday, February 1. Would friends please meet 9.45 a.m. for service at Darlington Crema-torium. No flowers by request. Donations if desired to the Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund.


GEORGE - January 30, peacefully at home, of Ferryhill Station. Tom, aged 62 years, much loved husband of Elaine, a dearly loved dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sadly missed by all of his family. Family and friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Thursday, February 7 at 12.00 noon.


GILES - On January 23, of Coppice Hill, Esh Winning. Bertha, aged 95 years, a dearly loved aunt of Margaret and Joyce and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Would friends please meet for service in Acton Road Methodist Church on Friday, February 1 at 11.30 a.m., followed by interment in Parkwood Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who cared for Bertha in recent years.


GLASSBOROW - Maurice Basil, aged 91 years, of Gilling West, died peacefully in hospital on January 18. Beloved husband of the late Joan and much loved father of Martin and Stephen. Funeral service at St Agatha's Church, Gilling West on Friday, February 1 at 1.00 p.m. followed by interment in the Churchyard. Friends please meet at the church.


GRAINGER - January 29, died peacefully at her sister's home. Maisie, aged 50 years, of Wingate, loving mam of Daniel, much loved sister of Bob, Alan, Ann and the late Tom, loved sister-in-law of Josie, Hilda and Liz. Funeral service Wednesday February 6 at Milbank Methodist Church, Station Town at 10.15 a.m., prior to interment at Station Town Cemetery.


GREGORY - January 30, 2008 (after a long illness). Eric Gregory, aged 83 years, of Barnard Castle (retired N.W.A. Super-intendent), formerly of Lartington. Dearly beloved husband of Margaret and a dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Would friends please meet for funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Friday, February 8 at 11.45 a.m. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired may be given in the Crematorium Chapel to Alzheimer's Society. Many thanks to staff at Whorlton Grange for their excellent care.

Beloved wife of the late Dennis Grieve, dear sister-in-law of Norman and Eileen and a loving aunt to Yvonne, Gordon, Alan and Linda. Robert, aged 72 years, dearly beloved husband of Irene, a much loved dad of Ian, a dear father-in-law of Kate, also devoted grandad of Daniel, Molly and Daisy. Cremation Durham Crematorium Monday, February 4. Friends please accept this intimation and meet for service at St. Alban's Church in Trimdon Grange at 12.30 p.m. Family flowers only. HADDON - Violet Phoebe Rosa, died peacefully at Morris Grange Care Home in the early hours of January 26. Friends and family please meet at Darlington Crematorium at 9.15 a.m. on Friday, February 1. Kenny, a much loved husband of Mary (nee Emery, of Shotton), also a devoted dad to Paul, Bruce and the late Robin, dear father-in-law to Melanie and Diane and a cherished grandad to Luke, Kane, Kayleigh, Jake, Keera and Tyra. Cortege to leave his residence on Monday for service at the Church of the Ascension, Easington Colliery at 12.30 p.m., prior to an interment at Easington Colliery Cemetery. Thomas Roland, aged 76 years, devoted husband of the late Anne, adored dad of Neil, Bev, Lindsey and the late Barry, a much loved father-in-law who was very proud of his eight grandchildren and great-granddaughter also a dear brother and friend.
