Funeral Wed-nesday, January 7. Would friends please meet 3.45 p.m. for service and committal at Darlington Crematorium.

RAW December 28 (in hospital after a short illness). Les, aged 73 years, of Barnard Castle (late of Hartlepool), loving husband of Margaret, father of Stephen, Keith and Kevin, also dear father-in-law, grandad and great-grandad. Sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Would friends please meet for funeral service at St. Mary's Parish Church, Barnard Castle on Friday, January 2 at 12.30 p.m., followed by family interment at Whorlton. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, may be given in church to the Church Funds and Overseas Aid.

Hilda, aged 91 years, dearest daughter of the late James and May, a dear sister of the late Wilf, a much loved cousin and a dear friend to all who knew her. Cremation Monday, January 5 at Durham, following a service in St. Paul's Church, Witton Park at 11.00 a.m. Friends please meet at church. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers may be left at the church for Church Funds.

SCANNELL December 25. Martha (nee Riddell), aged 92 years, peacefully in Kings Court Care Home, Barnard Castle (formerly of Grove Park and Pinner, Middlesex). Dearly loved wife of the late Con, much loved aunt of John and Susan, special great-aunt of Bridget and Claire, Estelle, Heather and Tracey, dear stepmother of Mary. Would friends please meet for funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Monday, January 5 at 10.15 a.m.

Peter, aged 74 years, a loving and much loved husband of Nora, devoted dad of Andrew and Steven, loved father-in-law of Sally and a much loved grandad. Will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends. Friends please meet for service in the Parish Church of Christ Church, Great Lumley on Monday, January 5 at 8.30 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium at 9.30 a.m.

Cortege leaving residence Wednesday, December 31 at 1.05 p.m. Friends please meet at St. Paul's Church for service at 1.15 p.m., followed by interment at Trimdon Grange Cemetery.

SHAW December 28 (peacefully) in Lindisfarne Nursing Home, Chester-le-Street (formerly of Lambton Crescent, Sedgefield). Fred, aged 86 years, a much loved husband of the late Doris, a dear dad of Gail and devoted grandad of Sarah and Julian. Would friends please meet in St. Edmund's Church at 2.15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, followed by cremation at Darlington.

SHAW On December 28, in hospital after a long illness patiently borne, of 7 Bent House Lane, Gilesgate. Marian, aged 74 years, beloved wife of the late James Gibson, much loved mam of Ken, Olwyn, Keith, Rob, Stephen and Allen and a loving nana. Friends please meet for service at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Belmont on Wednesday, January 7 at 12.15 p.m., cremation at Durham to follow. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to St. Cuthbert's Hospice. A plate will be provided at the back of church.

SHORT (formerly Parkin) December 25, of Rydal Drive, Crook, Shirley, aged 61 years, beloved wife of William, a dearly loved mother of Margaret and a loving grandmother of Robert and Sarah. Friends please meet for service in St. Catherine's Church, Crook on Saturday, January 3 at 10.30 a.m., followed by interment in Crook Cemetery. Friends are welcome afterwards to Crook Working Men's Club.

SIMPSON December 29, of Carlton Miniott, Thirsk. Dorothy, aged 86 years, beloved wife of the late Dick, loving mother of Doreen and Peter, a dear mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. The funeral service will be held at St. Lawrence's Church, Carlton Miniott on Friday, January 9 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment.

SKEEN Vera (nee Etherington, formerly Bell), peacefully in hospital on December 22, aged 82 years. Beloved wife of the late Wally and formerly of Cliff, much loved mother of John, Marion and Ruth, mother-in-law of Beryl and devoted nanna of Diane and Gail, dearly loved sister of Olive. Funeral service took place on Tuesday, December 30 at Teesside Crematorium.

SMITH December 23, peacefully, of Middleton St George. Ellen, aged 87 years, dearly loved wife of the late Allan, beloved mother of June, David, Leslie, Christine and the late Derek and a much loved mother-in-law, nanna and great-nan. Funeral Tuesday. Friends please meet for service in St. Laurence's Church, Middleton St George at 2.15 p.m., followed by private cremation.
