Beloved wife of the late John James and much loved sister of Rose, Dorothy and the late Annie, also a dear auntie and great-auntie. Would friends please meet for funeral service on Friday, August 13 at 11.30 a.m., at St. Cuthbert's Church, Cotherstone, followed by interment.

KING August 9, in hospital, after tenaciously holding on to life. Walter, aged 79 years, dearly loved husband of the late Ellen, father of Shirley-Ann and Barbara, dearest grandad of Mark, Michelle and Julianne, father-in-law to Thomas and Tom, great-grandad to a darling little Courteney and a big brother to sister Joan, brother Norman and little sister Joyce. Funeral to take place on Tuesday, August 17. Would friends please meet for service at St. Giles' Church, Gilesgate, at 1.15 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only please by request. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Durham Community Hospital, Ward A. Lying uncomplaining, watching the clouds go by, day by day your strength you gave, to us the standers-by. Ann, aged 66 years, a much loved mam of John, Clara and the late Jeffrey and Trevor, a dear nanna of Claire, Julie, Jonathan, Thomas and Kate, a devoted sister of Kay and Lyn, also a dear aunt of Tony and Emma and a much loved sister-in-law and mother-in-law. Would relatives and close friends please meet for service at 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday, in Durham Crematorium Chapel. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to Sedgefield Community Hospital. MOORE Doreen On August 7, suddenly, aged 73 years. Doreen Moore, of Masham, Ripon. Beloved wife of the late Frank and a much loved sister-in-law and aunt. Service at the Methodist Church, West Tanfield, Ripon on Tuesday, August 17 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Nicholas' Church. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, may be given to the Methodist Church. A plate will be provided at the service.

MOORE John Charlton, on August 5, peacefully in Harrogate District Hospital, aged 89 years, formerly of Burn Brae, Hawes. Dearly loved husband of the late Myra and much loved father and father-in-law of Pat, Hilary, Kitty, Bob, Les and Charles and very special grandfather of Andrew, Nigel, Ian, Angus, Bruce and Mona, also great-grandfather of Todd. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, August 11 at St. John's Church, Bilton, Harrogate. Special thanks to the Rev'd. Lesley Bentley and Rev'd. Peter Askew for all their support.

POWELL (nee Wise) ELIZABETH (Liz) Late of Gurnard, Isle of Wight, previous resident of Chester-le-Street and East Rainton,.passed away peacefully at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on August 2nd. Much loved wife of Burnaby, dear mother of Guy and fondly remembered sister of Eric. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The celebration of her life was held August 10th.
