SIDDONS December 31 (suddenly), of Dean Road, Ferryhill. Herbert, aged 70 years, a dearly loved partner of Noreen, a loving father of Yvonne and Andrea, a dearest stepfather of Julie, Jayne and Joanne, also a devoted grandfather. Will friends please meet for service in St. Luke's Church on Saturday, January 8 at 9.15 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham.

SIMPSON December 31, in Barrington Lodge, formerly of Raby Road, Ferryhill. Sarah Isabella (Sally), aged 82 years, beloved wife of the late Dick and devoted mother of Anne and mother-in-law to Steve, a much loved nana to Michael and Mell, Andrew and Karen, a loving great-gran, dear step-mother to Peter, Margaret, June and Tom, also a dear sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Will friends please meet for service in Durham Crematorium at 1.00 p.m. on Monday, January 10. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, may be left for Breast Cancer Research at the crematorium.

SMITH On December 30, peacefully. Sydney, aged 87 years, dearly loved husband of the late Ann and a loving dad to Paul and Eric. Deeply missed by his sister Bertha and his loving grandchildren. A sad loss for the whole family. Funeral service to take place on Monday, January 10 at 1.00 p.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Darlington, followed by cremation at Darlington. SMITHSON On December 30, suddenly in hospital, of Lynn Crescent, Cassop. Angela (nee Mowatt), aged 50 years, beloved wife of Colin, dearly loved mother of John and Jacqueline, a dear mother-in-law of Lyn, also a devoted nana of Rebecca, Emily, Olivia and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Friends please meet for service Methodist Church, Cassop on Thursday at 1.00 pm., followed by interment in Shadforth Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to church funds.

SPENCE Elsie, aged 92 years, formerly of Gilling West, died peacefully at Richmond House, Richmond on December 26. Beloved wife of the late Jack, much loved mother of Shirley and Jeff, dear mother-in-law to Derrick and Pearl and a loving grandma and great-grandma. Funeral service at St. Agatha's Church, Gilling West on Thursday, January 6 at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment in the churchyard. Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only, if desired, donations may be given in church for the Richmond House Residents' Comforts Fund.

Mary Elizabeth Olive (Libby), aged 86 years, dearly beloved wife of the late George Edwin (Eddy), a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral service and interment to be held at St. Michael's Church, Well on Friday, January 7 at 1.30 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, may be given to the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

SYNER December 30 (peacefully), of Darlington Manor, formerly of Sparrow Hall Drive. Daisy, aged 93 years, she will be sadly missed by her sons Cliff, Allan and Peter, her daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister Edith. Funeral Monday, January 10. Would friends kindly meet for service in Northland Methodist Church at 12.30 p.m., prior to cremation at Darlington Crematorium.

Joanne (nee Richardson), aged 45 years, dearly loved mother of Angela and Simon, much loved daughter of Marian and Ernie, dear sister of Peter and Carl, much loved grandmother of Callum and dear sister-in-law and auntie. Would friends please meet at Trinity Methodist Church, Rosa Street, Spennymoor, Thursday at 10.30 a.m., for a service followed by interment at York Hill Cemetery. Cortege leaving parents' residence, Kirkdale, Spennymoor.

TAYLOR John William, of Haswell Plough, suddenly in hospital, on December 30, aged 58 years. Jack, a loved husband of Pat, also a dear dad and a cherished granda. Cortege to leave residence on Friday for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium at 12.00 noon. Friends are kindly invited, please meet at the crematorium chapel. A coach is provided and will leave the residence at 11.30 a.m.

WALKER Joseph Charles (Jos), aged 89 years, peacefully in hospital on December 29, of Eggleston View, Darlington. Dearly loved husband of Joyce, much loved dad of Russell and Christine, dear father-in-law of Val and Arthur and a loving grandad of Adam and Steven. Funeral Friday, January 7. Friends please meet for service in Darlington Crematorium at 11.15 a.m. Family flowers only.

WATSON On December 18 (of Shildon). Joyce, aged 71 years. The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 10, 9.45 a.m. at Darlington Crematorium.

WHILLIS On December 27, of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, formerly of Consett and teacher at Black Fyne School. Douglas James, aged 59 years, dear father of Paul. Will be sadly missed by Brenda and all his family and friends. Funeral service at St. Bartholomew's Church, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea on Thursday, January 6 at 1.00 p.m., followed by cremation at Cowpen Crematorium. Family flowers only please. WHITFIELD December 27. Jean (nee Pratt), aged 54 years (formerly of Stanhope, County Durham), beloved wife of David and much loved mam of Sharon who will miss her dearly, both of whom stayed by her side until her time came, which was very, very peaceful in the University Hospital of North Durham. Also a dear sister of Rob and niece of Billy and a dear sister-in-law, who will be remembered and missed by all as we lay her to rest in peace at Stanhope Cemetery. Friends please meet in St. Thomas' Church, Stanhope on Friday, January 7 at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment. Family flowers only please. Florence Mary, aged 57 years, dearest daughter of the late Ruth and Joe, dearly loved mother of Tracy and Wayne, dear mother-in-law of Sheila and also a devoted grandma of Jack, Liam, Benjamin and Aimee. Charles (Chuck), aged 72 years, loving husband of Hilda, adored dad of Donna, Charles, Elizabeth and Robert, much loved step-dad and father-in-law, grandad and great-grandad, sadly missed by brother Tom, sister Alice and all who knew him.
