Cortege leaving residence at 11.50 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4 for service in the Village Methodist Church at 12.00 noon, followed by interment in Duncombe Cemetery.

BALL September 22, in hospital, of North Park Care Home, Darlington. Hilda (nee Wilkinson), aged 87 years, beloved wife of the late Bob, dearly loved mother of Robert, Barbara and the late Marjorie, also a much loved mother-in-law, nana and great-nana. Funeral Thursday. Friends please meet for service at Darlington Crematorium at 10.45 a.m.

BARKER September 22, at York Hospital. Mary, aged 94 years, dearly loved wife of the late Arthur Bainbridge Barker, beloved mother of John, Susan and Jane, granny of Robert, Andrew, Matthew, Kate, Andrew, Steven and Carolyn and great-granny to Martha, Millie and Henry. Funeral service to take place at Elm Ridge Methodist Church, Darlington on Wednesday, October 5 at 2.00 p.m., followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium. Flowers may be sent to Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., 59a Bondgate, Darlington, DL3 7JR, or donations to Alzheimer's Disease Society, Gordon House, 10 Greencoat Place, London SW1 1PH.

BEAVIS September 27 (peacefully in hospital). Doris May, aged 83 years, formerly of Shildon, dearest aunt of Ian and Mervyne. Many thanks to Pat and the staff of Springfield and Haughton Village Nursing Homes, also the staff of Ward 41, Darlington Memorial Hospital for their loving care. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, October 4 at Darlington Crematorium at 10.45 a.m. Friends invited, please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. Resting at John Meynell Funeral Service, 148-150 North Road, Darlington.

BENNETT We are very sad to announce the sudden death of our beloved Christine, aged 56 years, from Merrybent, who passed away whilst on holiday abroad. Further details to follow.

BROWN Robert William, aged 73 years, of Northallerton died suddenly in hos-pital, dearly loved husband of Elizabeth (Betty), father of Steven and daughter-in-law Gillian. Family service to be held at Darlington Crematorium on Thursday September 29 at 2.45 p.m. Family flowers only please, by request.

BROWN September 23 (suddenly) of 32 Marlene Avenue, Bowburn. Gerald William, aged 73 years, dearly loved husband of the late Marlene, a dear father of Melvin and the late Ian, dear brother of Jean and Doreen, also a much loved granda and great-granda. Cortege leaving residence at 10.55 a.m. on Friday, September 30 for service in the Methodist Church at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment at Bowburn Cemetery.

BROWN September 26 (peacefully with his family around him), of Larch Avenue, Shildon. Arnold, aged 75 years, a dearly beloved husband of the late Doreen, a dearest dad of David and father-in-law of Jackie, also a much loved grandfather (Pa) and great-grandfather. Cremation Monday, October 3 at Darlington. Cortege leaving his son David's residence at 9.40 a.m. for a service in St. John's Church, Shildon at 9.50 a.m. Friends please meet at Church.

BRYDON James, elder son of the late Catherine and James Brydon, Tow Law. Died peacefully at Oakhaven Hospice, Lymington, Hampshire on September 25, 2005.

CARTER September 23 (suddenly, in hospital). Steven Nicholas, aged 47 years, dearly loved son of the late G.V. and M. Carter, beloved brother of Eric, David, Valerie, Tracey and Nita, brother-in-law of Brian, Philip, Michael and Sheila, uncle of Michael, Ellie, Roy, Sophie, Mark, Richard, Kerryl and great-uncle of Elliot and Aniela. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Thursday, September 29 at 3.00 p.m.

CHRISTON On September 29, peacefully at home, in the arms of his loving family, in Northallerton. Ken, aged 69 years, dearly beloved husband of Diane, a loving father of Jamie and Alison and dearest grampie to George and Thomas. Funeral service to take place at All Saints' Church, Northallerton on Tuesday, October 4 at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment. Family flowers only. Donations, if wished, may be sent for the Macmillan Nurses, to the family home.

CLEMENT September 25, of Bridge Street, Crook. Peter, aged 65 years, dearly loved son of the late Frank and Elizabeth, also a loving brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Friends please meet for service at St. Catherine's Church, Crook on Friday, September 30 at 2.30 p.m. Interment to follow at Howden-le-Wear Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to the British Heart Foundation may be left in Church. All are welcome afterwards for refreshments at The Horse Shoe, Crook.

COLLINGWOOD We are sad to announce the death of Fred Collingwood (formerly of Brookside Avenue, Crook), aged 77 years. Beloved husband of the late Mary, devoted dad of Barry and Barbara, father-in-law to Joanne and Stewart, grandad to Daniel and Andrew and special friend of Lilian. He died September 26 in Church View Residential Home with his family beside him. He demonstrated enormous courage over the last eighteen months. We were so proud of him and will miss him terribly. Would friends please meet in St. Catherine's Church, Crook for service at 10.40 a.m. on Monday, October 3 and afterwards in Durham Crematorium. Floral tributes to be sent c/o Gibson Funeral Services, Howden-le-Wear. Friends are welcome back to Crook W.M.C. for refreshments after this service.

Stan, aged 82 years, of Roseworth Estate, Stockton, dearly loved husband of Eva (nee Rex), dearest dad of Stephen, Susan and Andrew, also a dear father-in-law and a much loved grandad. Service and cremation at Teesside Crematorium Thursday, September 29 at 1.00 p.m. (St Bede's Chapel). Friends please meet at the Crema-torium. Immediate family flowers only please. Mercia (nee Luke), aged 76 years, a dearly beloved wife of Stan and a much loved mam of Ann and the late Shirley, mother-in-law of Jeff and Harry, also a devoted nana of all the grandchildren. DAVIES September 24, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth (Betty, nee Barry), aged 82 years, of Horden, beloved wife of the late Hughie, a much loved mam of Barry and Jean, dear mother-in-law of Florence and Alan, also a devoted grandma and great-grandma. Cortege to leave the residence of her daughter Yohden Crescent, Horden on Thursday for a service at St. Mary's Church, Horden at 1.30 p.m., prior to cremation at Durham Crema-torium. DAWSON September 26, of Sowerby Thirsk. Ann, aged 71 years, loving daughter of the late Frank and Marjorie, a dear neighbour and friend. The funeral service will be held at St. Oswald's Church, Sowerby on Tuesday, October 4 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment. Will friends please meet at Church.

DOWNIE September 28, of 1 Cragg Cottages, Frosterley. Mary, aged 86 years, dearly loved wife of the late John Stevenson, loving mother of Christopher John and Alistair Hilton. ELGIE September 26, suddenly, at home. Arthur Ernest, of Newton Aycliffe, formerly of Darlington, dearly beloved husband of Eva and much loved father of Eric and Edwin, grandfather of Ivan, Kevin, Caron, Daniel, Luke and Ben, Will be sadly missed. Funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Thursday, October 6 at 1.15 p.m. Friends are invited to attend the service and later at East End Club. Thanks to all who sent their condolences and kind wishes.

EVANS September 27 (peacefully at home, after a long illness), of Stobbs Cross Road, West Cornforth. Stan, aged 76 years, dearly loved husband of Ellen, also a loving dad, father-in-law, granda and great-granda. FORSTER We are deeply sorry to announce the death of our husband, dad and grandad John Sinclair. After an incredibly bravely borne long illness, he died suddenly at home in Stockton, with his family around him, on September 22. We loved you very much and were so proud of the strength and wit you maintained throughout your illness. We will miss you with all our hearts, Jean, Joanna, Mark, Bethany and Georgia. Sincere thanks to all his friends who supported him with visits over the last year, he enjoyed your company so much. FRENCH June (Juanita Louise, nee Wilkinson), dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully on September 25, following years of failing health during which she never lost her sense of humour or her fighting spirit. GALLAGHER (nee Edmondson) September 24, suddenly. Jean, aged 63 years, of Hammond Drive, Darlington, a much loved wife of Patrick, a devoted mam of Kathleen, Deborah and David, a loving mother-in-law of Kerry, John and Mandy, also a treasured nana of Laura, David, Michael and Jade. Funeral Monday, October 3. Would friends please meet 1.15 p.m. for service at St. James the Great Church, Albert Hill, prior to interment in the North Cemetery. Will be sadly missed by all.

GARDENER Oliver, lately of RBL Lister House, Ripon, North Yorkshire. Born Beauly, Inverness-shire December 10, 1915, died September 25, 2005. Happily husband to Marjorie for 60 years, dad to Nicholas, Timothy and Jeremy, granfer to William, Robert and Sarah, Oliver to daughter-in-law Fiona and Lou, Ollie to close friends. Loving and loved. Funeral service at Woodland Methodist Church on Thursday, September 29 at 2.15 p.m., followed by committal at Durham Crematorium at 3.30 p.m. Friends please meet at the church.
