SANDS The funeral of the late Patrick Sands of Esh, died September 20, will take place at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Esh Laude on Friday, September 30 at 10.00 a.m.

SCOTT September 25, of Howden-le-Wear. Dorothy (Dolly), aged 102 years, beloved wife of the late Henry Henderson Scott, devoted mother of Margaret and the late Edward, a dear mother-in-law, also a loving nana and great-nana. Will friends please meet for service in Durham Crematorium at 12.00 noon on Tuesday, October 4.

SIMPSON Edwin, aged 81 years, of Gilling West, died peacefully in hospital on September 24. Treasured husband of Gladys, much loved dad of Chris, dearest father-in-law to Rita, proud grandad of Neil and Robert and a dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Funeral service at St Agatha's Church, Gilling West on Friday, September 30 at 12.15 p.m., followed by committal at Darlington Crematorium at 1.15 p.m. Friends please meet at the Church. SMAILES September 27, at home, after a hard battle since last October. John Stephen, aged 65 years (Stockton-on-Tees Councillor for 38 years, former Mayor of Stockton 1992-1993), beloved husband of Marie and loving brother of Stella, admired and respected by friends, colleagues and many Stocktonians. SMITH Jean, aged 70 years, of Brough Avenue, Col-burn, died peacefully in hospital on September 23. Dearly loved wife of Eddie, much loved mam of Yvonne, Susan, Marilyn and the late Nigel and a dear mother- in-law and grandma. SPENSLEY We are sorry to announce the death of our father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother Arnold. He had such a wonderful life and he gave so much to so many people. TARN September 22. David, aged 30 years, a treasured and dearly loved son of Elizabeth and Ken, of Walworth Gate. He gave us thirty years of unconditional love and pleasure - a great loss. Goodnight and Bless You Son Mam and Dad

John Richard, aged 54 years, dearest brother of Gerald and brother-in-law of Margaret, also a much loved uncle, nephew and cousin. Cremation Friday, October 7 at Durham following a service in the crematorium chapel at 3.00 p.m. Friends please meet at the crematorium. If desired donations may be made in lieu of flowers, to the Civil Service Benovolent Fund. A collection plate will be provided at the Crematorium.

THOMPSON September 26 (suddenly at home), of Durham. Robert, aged 80 years, devoted husband of Lydia and loving father of the late Billy. Robert will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends. Friends please meet at Durham Crematorium on Monday, October 3 at 1.00 p.m. for service, prior to cremation.

YOUNG The family of Keith Young, of Newburn Avenue, Bowburn are sorry to announce his death on September 29, aged 69 years. He died peacefully at home, with his loving family around him, after an illness so courageously borne. Beloved husband of Joan, devoted dad of Judith and Joanne, a sadly missed father-in-law of Gary and Brian, a treasured granda of Lorna, Gareth, Becky, Alex, Georgia and Ben. Dad, we are so proud of you, the way you kept your sense of humour and gave us all strength to cope with the very sad times to come. Funeral to take place on Tuesday, October 4.
