Jean (nee Howe), aged 77 years, dearly beloved wife of the late Robert, devoted mother of Valerie, John and Jill, a dearest gran of Alison, Claire, David, Emma, Robert and James and great-gran of Aimee, also a much loved sister of Marion and sister-in-law of Eddie. Cremation Monday October 31 at Darlington, following a service in the Crematorium Chapel at 11.00 a.m. Friends please meet at the Crematorium and will be welcome for a reception at The Eden Arms, West Auckland after the funeral.

MURTHICK On October 26, peacefully in hospital. Ray, aged 79 years, of Darlington, dearly beloved husband of the late Florrie, much loved dad of Kevin, dear father-in-law of Janet, adored grandad and great-grandad, also a special brother-in-law of Ethel and family (South Africa). Would friends please meet for service in the West Cemetery Chapel at 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, followed by cremation. Family flowers only please. NELSON On October 20 (suddenly). Joseph (Jos), aged 86 years, of Bradley, late of Silsden, the dearly beloved husband of the late Margaret, very dear father of Anne, father-in-law of Michael and dear friend of Dorothy. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 27 at St. James' Church, Silsden at 1.00 p.m., prior to private cremation. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Yorkshire Air Ambulance or the Yorkshire Dales Macmillan Appeal, c/o Whitlock and Craven Funeral Directors, Clogbridge, Silsden, a plate will also be provided in church for this purpose.

OSWALD On October 19, suddenly on holiday, of 28 Malcolm Avenue, Quarrington Hill, Durham. Tommy, aged 64 years, devoted husband of Joyce and a much loved dad of Anthony. Sadly missed by all his family and friends. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Wednesday, November 2 at 11.30 a.m. Family flowers only please. OXLEY (nee Burnside) October 21, peacefully at home with her family by her side, following an illness fought with courage and faith, of The Paddocks, Gainford. Winifred (Wyn), adored wife of Ron, very much loved mum of John, Neil and Ann, dear mother-in-law of Chris, Karen and Mike, devoted gran of Tom, Baz, Katie and Tilly and beloved niece of Mary and Frances. Requiem Mass to celebrate Wyn's life to be held at St. Osmund's R.C. Church, Gainford on Friday at 10.00 a.m., followed by private cremation. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, may be sent for the Macmillan Nurses, care of Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., 59a Bondgate, Darlington, DL3 7JR. No black clothing by request.

OXLEY Olive On October 25, of Mill Lane, Sherburn Village. Olive, aged 101 years, dearly beloved wife of the late Harry. Brian and Harry invite all who are able to meet at Parkinson Memorial Methodist Church, Sherburn Village at 12.00 noon on Thursday, November 3 to celebrate her life, followed by interment at Sherburn Village Cemetery. Bus provided from church. Buffet reception to be held at Hallgarth Manor, Pittington, all welcome. Family flowers only. RAND October 25, of Dovedale Avenue, Sunnybrow. Mildred Alice (Milly), aged 79 years, beloved wife of the late Raymond, loving mother and mother-in-law of Kathleen and Alan, Gail and Peter, Lorraine and Terry, Raymond and Yvette, also a devoted nanna and great-nanna, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Friends please meet for service at Sunnybrow Community Chapel on Saturday, October 29 at 10.30 a.m. Interment to follow. No flowers, by request. All are welcome afterwards for refreshments at Willington W.M.C.

RIDLEY October 22 (peacefully, in hospital), of Princes Street, Bishop Auckland. Mary (nee Litten), aged 46 years, dearly loved wife of Alan, devoted mother of Wayne, Gemma, Ryan and Adam also a dear sister and auntie. Interment Friday, October 28 in Bishop Auckland Ceme-tery. Cortege leaving residence at 10.50 am for a service in St. Anne's Church, Bishop Auckland at 11.00 a.m. Friends please meet at Church.

RIDLEY October 25 (peacefully in hospital), of 21 Commercial Street, Cornsay Colliery. Heather, aged 61 years, dearly loved wife of Denis, loving daughter of Arthur, sister to Christine and aunt to Nigel. Friends please meet for service at St. John's Church, Quebec on Tuesday, November 1 at 10.45 am. Cremation to follow. Afterwards all welcome to The Honest Lawyer, Croxdale. ROWLAND October 23. Mary (nee Rigby), aged 68 years, of Peterlee, died peacefully in hospital. Devoted mother of Jacqueline, Rosemary and Rigby, loving sister of Winnie, a loving aunt, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma. Will be sadly missed. Friends please meet at St Cuthbert's Church, Peterlee for service on Tuesday, November 1 at 12.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium at 1.30 p.m.

ROY October 26 (suddenly), of North Street, Spennymoor. Doreen Margaret (Dolly, nee Wells), aged 79 years, beloved wife of the late George Alexander, a dearly loved mam of Christine, Susan, David, Julie and Carole, a loving mother-in-law, a much loved nanna, great-nanna and a dear sister and sister-in-law. Would friends please meet in St. Paul's Church, Spennymoor Monday for a service at 9.00 a.m., followed by committal at Durham Crematorium. Who will be sadly missed by all.

SCARR October 26, suddenly, of Swan Street, Darlington. Thomas Dennison (Dennis), aged 72 years, dearly loved husband of Eileen, much loved dad of Denise, Lynn and David, dear father-in-law of Graham, Kevin and Yvonne, loving grandad of Clare, Michelle, Natalie and Danielle, great-grandad of Leigha and Caitlin, brother of Brian and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. SCHOFIELD Frank, aged 75 years, died on October 22 in Newcastle General Hospital, after a courageous battle against an illness bravely borne. A loving husband of Monica and a dearest father of Emma and Paul. Private funeral service to be held at All Saints' Church, Northallerton, followed by interment.

SHEPHERD John (Jack) On October 26 (peacefully, at home), in Thimbleby. John, aged 77 years. Beloved husband of Margaret and a loving father of Graham, Alison, Ruth and Robin, also a devoted grandfather. Funeral service to take place at St. Peter's Church, Osmotherley on Tuesday November 1, at 11.45 a.m. followed by private cremation. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if so desired to, The Respiratory and Cardiology Departments at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

Jennifer (nee Stuart), aged 51 years, dearly loved wife of Alan and cherished mother of Mark and Darren, also a dear sister of Dennis, David, Ian, Terry, Jean and the late Lorna. SHIMMON Ronald John On October 25, peacefully, after a long illness in Sedgefield Hospital. Ron, aged 67 years. Beloved husband of Val, dearly loved dad of Stephen, Gary, Kellie and Ronald, dear father-in-law of Jean and Joanne and devoted grandad of Lauren. Sweet is your memory, precious your name, deep in our hearts you will always remain.

SIMPSON October 15 (peacefully at home), of Old Cleatlam. Catherine (Kate), aged 96 years (nee Tunstall), formerly Brown. A loving mother of Maurice, Cliff (the late Wilf), Cecil, Jean, Wyn and Dorothy. Much loved mother-in-law, nana, great-nana and great-great-nana. Sadly missed by all family and friends. SOWERBY Violet Joyce, October 19, aged 85, of Tetbury, Gloucester, formerly of County Durham. Dearly loved wife of Wilfred Percy. Funeral details to follow.

SPEARMAN David On October 19, peacefully at home, with his family. David Spearman, aged 77 years, much loved husband of Elizabeth and beloved father of Katherine and Richard. Service at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon today, Friday, October 28 at 12.00 noon. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the League of Friends of Ripon Hospitals. A plate provided at the service.

STONLEY October 24 (in Greenfields Nursing Home, Newton Aycliffe), formerly of Ferryhill. Annie (Nancy), aged 89 years, beloved wife of the late Albert and also a loving sister and auntie. The funeral service will take place at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1 at Durham Crematorium. No flowers by request.

SUMMERILL Percival (Pop) October 22, of Croft House, Shotton (late of Tudor Court). Pop, aged 81 years, dearly beloved husband of the late Joyce, father of Alan, loving brother of Nancy and also a dear uncle. Cremation Durham Crematorium on Thursday, October 27.
