Dearly loved husband of the late Ruth (nee White), loving dad of Jean, a dear father-in-law of Eric, a much loved grandad Arthur to Adam and Jorja, dearest Arthur to Clare and Simon, also a treasured grandad of Lisa and Lucie. Funeral Friday May 12. Would friends please meet 11.00 a.m. for service in St. John's Church, prior to cremation at Darlington. Floral tributes may be sent to, The Co-op funeral Service, Darlington.


SCARR - May 7, peacefully, at Springfield Care Home. Alice Elizabeth, aged 92 years, of Darlington, beloved wife of the late George (Butcher), loving mother of Ronnie and the late Alan, dear mother-in-law of Veronica and Tina and much loved grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral service to take place on Friday, May 12 at Darlington Crematorium at 10.15 a.m. Friends invited, please meet at the Crematorium Chapel.


SHANKS - On May 5, in Kingsway Nursing Home and formerly of Holly Crescent, Sacriston. Sheila, aged 80 years, dearly loved wife of the late Dick and a dear mam, grandma and sister. Friends please meet for service at St. Peter and St. John's Church, Sacriston on Friday, May 12 at 1.00 p.m., interment to follow in Sacriston Cemetery.


SHERRY - May 7 (peacefully, at home), of Northallerton. James (Jim), aged 63 years, a dearly beloved husband of Joyce, dear stepfather of Ian, father-in-law of Lisa and a dear brother. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Northallerton on Thursday, May 11 at 1.00 p.m., followed by interment. Family flowers only. Donations if wished may be given for the Herriot Hospice Home Care.


SIMPSON - Elsie, aged 96 years, passed away peacefully after a short stay in hospital, in Bradford on Thursday, May 4, 2006. A dearly loved wife of the late Robert Hardy Simpson (Bob), mother of Aileen and the late Robert (Bob), grandmother of Julie, Lianne, Susan, Estelle, great-grandmother of Danielle, Lianne, Malcolm, Josh, Ben, Matthew and Niamh and great-great-grandmother to Romanie. A short Memorial Service will be held at St. Edmund's Church, Sedgefield on Monday, May 15 at 11.00 a.m. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the British Heart Found-ation. A plate will be provided at the Church for this purpose.


SMITH - April 27 (in Qatar). David, loving son of Doreen and the late Tom, dear brother of Maggie and Mark, brother-in-law of Ron and Marie, uncle of Clare and Lauren. Funeral to take place Tuesday, May 9. Would friends please meet 11.45 a.m. for service at Darlington Crematorium.


SMITH - April 27, 2006, suddenly but peacefully in hospital (Doha, Qatar). Dave, aged 52 years, much loved husband of Carol, special friend/stepdad to Jules and Tracy, also sadly missed by Andrew, Francis, Amanda, Matthew and all his friends and family.

WOODHOUSE - May 3, in hospital, of Masham (formerly of Bainbridge). Terry, aged 69 years, the much loved husband of the late Myrna, a treasured dad of Kantele and Alaric and a dear papa of Hannah and Leon. Service and interment at St James' Church, Grewelthorpe on Saturday, May 13 at 2.00 p.m.


WRAY - Died May 9 (peacefully), in Bedale Grange Nursing Home. Clifford, aged 93 years. Husband of the late Marion, dear father of John, Clifford and Ian. Funeral service to be held at St. Bede's Chapel, Teesside Crematorium on Friday May 19, at 2.00 p.m.


WRAY - George Sidney (Sid) aged 89 years on May 10, peacefully at Poplar Lodge, former Roll Turner/Toolmaker of Close Street, Darlington, much loved husband of the late Gwennie, wonderful father to Steve, father-in-law to Audrey, amazing grandfather to Nicola and Philip and great-grandfather to Adam. Funeral Wednesday. Friends please meet for service at Darlington Crematorium at 10.45 a.m.
