Alan, aged 45 years, most dearly loved and loving husband and best friend of Aline, much loved son of Geoff and the late Mary, dear brother of Steve, brilliant stepdad and best mate of Chris, Gary, Michèl and Kelly, also the best grandad ever of baby Ethan. Deeply missed by family and friends. Would friends please meet for funeral service at St. Cuthbert's Church, Cotherstone on Tuesday, August 19 at 12.15 p.m., followed by private cremation.

Allan, aged 74 years, dearly loved husband of Dorothy, loving father of David and Christine and dearest grandad of Paul, Lauren and the late Ian. Martin Leslie, aged 37 years, dearly loved son of Audrey and Harry, much loved brother of Robert, Hazel, Michael and Tina and a dearly loved brother-in-law and uncle. Service at All Saints' Church, East Cowton at 2.00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, followed by interment at South Cowton.

WERNYJ August 8 (passed away after a short illness, in the Lambert Hospital), of Kings Gardens, Sowerby, Thirsk. Walter, aged 81 years, beloved husband of Gladys and much loved dad of Peter, Michael and Gillian, father-in-law of Julie and May and grandfather of Bronwyn, Megan, Millie, Callum and Jordan. The funeral service will be held at All Saints' Church, Thirsk on Thursday, August 14 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment at Sowerby. Family flowers only please. BARNINGHAM August 17 (in hospital), of Beech House West, Burtersett Road, Hawes and formerly of Thwaite in Swaledale. Alwyne, aged 86 years, dearly loved youngest son of the late Ernest and Dorothy Barningham, a very dear brother, brother-in-law and uncle. At Alwyne's own request a brief service and prayers will take place at Reeth Congregational Church on Friday, August 29 at 2.00 p.m., followed by private interment at Grinton Cemetery. However, also Alwyne's strong wish was that a Thanksgiving Service be held at St. Margaret's Church Hawes. This will take place on Saturday, September 13 at 2.00 p.m., to which all friends are very welcome.

BECKWITH August 16 (peacefully), in Belmont Grange Nursing Home, formerly of Musgrave Gardens. Edith, aged 94 years, beloved wife of the late Ivan. Friends please meet for service at St. Giles' Church, Gilesgate on Thursday, August 21 at 1.15 p.m. Cremation to follow at Durham.

BELL August 14, peacefully, at 6 McNally Place, Gilesgate, Durham. Percy, aged 78 years, dearly loved husband of Margaret, also father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law.
