THORNLEY - John Howard A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 4.00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Woodland Road, Darlington. Followed by refreshments at Blackwell Grange Golf Club, Blackwell, Darlington. All family and friends welcome.

THROSBY - Lilian (nee Evans), formerly of Cheltenham and Cheadle. Beloved wife of the late Burnett (Bing) Throsby. Died October 6, 2007 aged 92 years. Lovely mum of Marilyn, Christine and Royston. Dearly loved grandmother of Lisa, Jillian, Peter, Thomas and James and a beloved great-grandmother to Thomas, Frances, Madeline, George and Charlie.

VART - Ralph Talbot of Ramshaw, died peacefully in hospital on October 3, aged 82 years. Beloved husband of Betty, a much loved father of John, also a dear grandfather and great-grandfather. Funeral service at St. Paul's Church, Evenwood on Thursday, October 11 at 1.45 p.m., followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium. Will friends please meet at the church.

WALLS - On October 10 (peacefully in Ridgeway House Nursing Home), formerly of Thornley. Hannah (nee Christopher), aged 82 years, beloved wife of the late Gordon, devoted mother of Gordon and Frances, dear mother-in-law of Lana and David, a much loved grandma of Adhana, Andrew and Stephen, also a dearly missed great-grandma of Toby, Alice and Christopher. Would friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium on Monday, October 15 at 9.00 a.m. Forever in our hearts. Gone but not forgotten.

WARD - On October 6, of Bannatyne Lodge Nursing Home, Peterlee and late of Haswell Plough. Ivy (nee Walls), aged 89 years, a dearly beloved wife of the late George, a much loved mam of the late Jackie, a dear mother-in-law of Margaret and a dearest grandma of David and Lynn, also a devoted great-grandma of Chelsea. Friends please meet on Friday, October 12 for service and cremation 1.00 p.m. at Durham Crematorium. Enquiries to Ivan Cochrane Funeral Directors. Tel. (0191) 5862136. Memories are the loveliest things, they last from day to day. They can't get lost, they don't wear out and can't be given away.

WARDLE - Ian Tarn On Tuesday, October 2, aged 69 years, beloved husband of Dorothy, dearest father to Eve and Callum, father-in-law to David and Sue. Funeral Friday, October 12. WATSON - Gosforth Peacefully at home after a long illness, on October 8. Alan, aged 85 years, beloved husband of Dorothy, loving father of Colin and Susan, much loved grandfather of Francis and Faye. Millie, aged 91 years, dearly loved wife of the late John (Jack), dear mam of Jack and Theresa and loving nan to Shaun. To be received into St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Gilesgate on Tuesday, October 16 at 4.30 p.m. Requiem Mass on Wednesday, October 17 at 10.30 a.m., cremation to follow. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if desired, to the Stroke Association, c/o Stuart Wright Funeral Service, Gilesgate, Durham.

WOODWARD - October 7, peacefully in Wilton House Nursing Home, Darlington. Olive, aged 91 years, formerly of Butterknowle, a dear mother to Mary, Margaret and Marion and mother-in-law to Ronald, Dennis and the late Ken, also a dearly loved grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral Tuesday, October 16. Would family and friends please meet 10.00 a.m., for service at St. John's Church, Lynesack, prior to interment in the churchyard. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Osteoporosis Society.

WRIGHT - On October 6, suddenly in hospital. Doreen, aged 87 years, of Caterhouse Road, Framwellgate Moor, a devoted wife of the late Ernest, loving mother of Jean and the late Derek, also a dear mother-in-law to Margaret and Ken and a beloved grandma to Helen, Shona and Fiona, a devoted great-grandma to Luke. Friends please meet for service at St. Cuthbert's Church on Tuesday, October 16 at 12.30 p.m. Cremation to follow at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only please with donations in lieu, if desired, to Parkinson's Disease Society, c/o Stuart Wright Funeral Service, Langley Park, Durham.

ABBOTT - September 27, peacefully in Aycliffe Nursing Home, Newton Aycliffe. Phyllis (formerly O'Brien), aged 90 years, a much loved and cherished mam of Michael, John, Mary and Christopher and their partners Mary, Ang, George and Pauline. Never forgotten by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her presence touched us all. Funeral Wednesday, October 3. Would friends please meet 1.15 p.m. for service at Darlington Crematorium. APPLEBY - Wheatley Hill September 28. Elizabeth (Telford), aged 71 years, a loving mam, grandma and great-grandma. BOWNESS - September 28, peacefully at home after a long illness, of Marwood Crescent, Darlington. Gilbert (Gill), aged 78 years, dearly loved husband of Jean, loving dad of Deborah, Cheryl and Gillian, dear father-in-law of Philip and Alan, much loved grandad of John, Jake, Jamie, Adam, Ryan, Carl and Callum and a dear brother. BRADLEY - John Neville On September 27, peacefully in hospital, of Guis borough. Neville aged 70 years, beloved husband of Dorothy, dearly loved father of Adrian, Clive and Jane, dear father-in-law to Susan, Katie and Mark and a devoted grandad of Oliver, Myles and Millie and Arran, Maya and new baby girl. BROOME - September 29, of Semer Garth, Worton. Roely, aged 74 years, peacefully after a short illness borne with great courage and dignity. Loving wife of Alan, mother of Michael, Jennifer and Elizabeth, grandmother of Rebecca, Matthew, James, Nicola, Joanna and Harry, also great-grandmother of Ella. BURNSIDE - Elaine, aged 63 years, peacefully at home after a long illness on September 24, of Friars Pardon, Hurworth. CARNEY - September 29, after a long illness, in Bishopsgate Lodge (formerly of Highland Gardens, Shildon). Ronald (Ron), aged 71 years, a beloved husband of the late Margaret, loving brother of Margaret and Michael also a much loved uncle and great-uncle. Friends please meet for service at St. John's Church, Shildon on Monday, October 8 at 9.45 a.m., followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium. CARR - Tom, aged 86 years, of Richmond and Marrick, died peacefully at Nightingale Hall Nursing Home on October 2. Beloved husband of Katherine, much loved father of David, Martin and Christopher, dear father-in-law to Julia, Emma and Kate and loving grandpa of Mary and Annie, Robert, Oliver and Jonathan. Funeral service at St. Mary's Church, Richmond on Saturday, October 6 at 12.00 noon, followed by private interment in Hudswell Churchyard. Friends please meet at the church.
