JOHNSON - September 4, peacefully in hospital after a long illness patiently and courageously borne, of Langley Park Care Home, formerly of Sacriston. David William aged 85 years, a dearly loved husband of Trudy, devoted dad of David Keith, a dearly loved brother of Lena and uncle to David, Sylvia and Claire. Friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Tuesday, September 11 at 3.30 p.m. Family flowers only with donations if desired to the Great North Air Ambul-ance. Friends kindly invited to The Dunelm Ridge, Pity Me after wards. God knew you were weary, the hill hard to climb, so He gently took your hand in his and whispered "Peace be Thine"

KAY - Terry, aged 67 years, passed away peacefully on September 4 surrounded by his family. He leaves beloved wife of forty two years Pauline, twin sons Giles and Jason and sister Valerie (Retired Sizewell A. Station Manager). Terry of Knodishall, Suffolk and formerly of Kirkby Hill, Richmond, North Yorkshire. Devoted to his family and ever the proud Yorkshireman. A Thanksgiving Service will be held at Knodishall Church on Monday, September 10 at 3.00 p.m. Flowers by family. All donations to the Rotary Club (Saxm-undham and District) c/o Tony Brown's Funeral Service, Saxmundham, Suffolk IP17 1EH.

KITCHEN - On September 5 (after a long illness). Mary, aged 67 years, a much loved wife of John. Would friends please meet at St. Joseph's R.C. Church Coundon on Wednesday, September 12 at 12.00 noon, to be followed by interment in the Church Yard.

KNOWLSON - On September 4 (in hospital), formerly of Gillings Court, Thirsk. Rachel, aged 90 years, beloved wife of the late Thomas, a loving mother to Margaret, Christ-opher, Roger, Stephen and Robina, a dear grandma and great-grandma. The funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Thirsk on Thursday, September 13 at 11.30 a.m., followed by interment. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the League of Friends, The Lambert Hospital, Thirsk.

LEADBITTER - Tommy On September 6, suddenly in hospital. Tommy, aged 67 years, of Darlington. Loving father of Lisa, Karl and Jon-Luc, father-in-law of Chris and Claire, loving brother of Beryl and uncle to Sandra and Anthony, grandad to Cameron, Mackenzie, Gemma, Alex and the late Jordan. Funeral Thursday, September 13. Friends please meet for service in St. John's Church, Darlington at 11.00 a.m., prior to interment in the East Cemetery. LEE - Eva, aged 85 years, formerly of Richmond, peacefully at Rosedale Nursing Home, Catterick on September 1. Beloved wife of the late Bert, much loved mum of Malcolm, dear mother-in-law of Doreen and a loving grandma to Andy and Sharon. Funeral service at St. Mary's Church, Richmond on Monday, September 10 at 2.00 p.m., followed by interment in the cemetery. Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only please. LOWSON - John Joseph (Jack), aged 77 years, of Oakenshaw, peacefully in hospital after an illness bravely borne on September 2. Ever-loving husband of Vera, a loving father of Barbara and Sheila and a much loved grandad of Natalie and Johnathan, also a loving great-grandad of Leila Grace, a loving brother of Elsie, Alan, Norman and the late Thomas. Would family and friends please meet for service at St. Stephen's Church, Willington on Monday September 10 at 2.40 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Mrs Sheila Hird for Ward 5 of Bishop Auckland General Hospital. All are welcome back at Willington Cricket Club after the funeral service for refreshments.

LYNCH - August 31 (peacefully in hospital), of Hackworth House, Shildon (formerly of St. Helen's). William Ivan, aged 78 years, a dearly beloved husband of the late Jenny. Interment Thursday, September 6 in Shildon Cemetery, following a service in the Methodist Chapel, Shildon at 1.00 p.m. Friends please meet at the Chapel.

MARK - September 2, peacefully of Mallory Court, Darlington. Valerie (Val), aged 56 years, beloved wife of the late Jeff also a dearly loved mam, mother-in-law and nanni. Donations may be sent for St. Teresa's Hospice, The Woodlands, 91 Woodland Road, Darlington DL3 7UA.

MAYCOCK - August 28, near Bourne-mouth. Vera (nee Shepherd), formerly of Esh Winning, aged 75 years, a beloved wife of the late Alister, loving mother of Julie and Stephen and a devoted grandmother of Andrew, Steven, Nicola, Naomi and Anna.

McKEOWN - September 2, in hospital after a short illness. Joan, devoted wife of the late Kenneth Charles, much loved mother of Kenneth and Christ-opher, a loving grandmother of Sarah, Mathew, Jonathon and Rachael, dear mother-in-law of Barbara and Gill. Funeral Friday, September 7. Service in All Saints' Church, Hurworth at 3.00 p.m. Flowers may be sent c/o Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington DL3 7JR.

MORRIS - September 3, of Hunwick. Joan (nee Lambert), aged 68 years, dearly loved wife of the late George Thomas, much loved mam of George, Karen, Paul, Brian, Pamela and Andrew, also a dearly loved mother-in-law and nana. Will friends please meet for service in Durham Crematorium at 3.30 p.m. on Friday, September 7.

Elsie, dearly loved wife of the late Sam, dearest mother of Lewis and Diane, adored grandmother of Mark, Paul, David and Julia and great-grandmother of Stacey, Mark, Matthew, Lucy and Elysa. Clifford John (Cliff), aged 80 years, beloved husband of the late June, very dear dad of John, David, Wendy, Allan and Linda, a dear father-in-law of Audrey, Meilys, Andy, Debbie and Mark, also a much loved grandad and great-grandad. Funeral Tuesday, September 11. Friends please meet for service in St. John's Church at 3.00 p.m., followed by cremation.

PAKES - (Nettlesworth) In hospital on August 25, aged 78 years. Harry, dearly beloved husband of Marian, much loved brother-in-law of Marjorie and Billy, Jackie and Dougie, also a loved brother of Hazel. Will be sadly missed by all his loving family and many friends. Friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium on Wednesday, September 5 at 10.30 a.m.

PALING - On Friday, August 31, peacefully in hospital. John Harding, aged 96 years, of Coxhoe, formerly Sedgefield, loving husband of Shirley and the late Gladys, a much loved father of Anne, John and Robin and also a grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Funeral service to take place on Thursday September 6 at 11.00 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church, Sedgefield prior to interment at Sedgefield Cemetery. No floral tributes by request. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to Cancer Research, 61 Lincolns Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3PX.

PEACOCK - On September 1, passed away peacefully at home, Windy Ridge, Castle Bolton. Heather (nee Alsop), aged 64 years, dearly loved wife of John, very dear mum of Christine and Michael, much loved mother-in-law of Ron and Melanie, loving granny of Naomi, Natalie, Rebecca and James, a dear sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Funeral service to be held at St. Andrew's Church, Aysgarth on Tuesday, September 11 at 2.00 p.m., followed by interment at St. Mary's Churchyard, Redmire. Family flowers only please, however donations in memory of Heather, if so desired, may be given at the service for Castle Bolton Church, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Herriot Hospice Homecare. Heather wanted all who attend the service to wear more informal clothes as opposed to black. Will friends please meet at the church and accept this intimation.

PICKERING - September 1, peacefully of Ted Fletcher Court, Darlington. Jean, aged 77 years, beloved wife of Alf, dearly loved mother of Grahame, mother-in-law of Angela and loving grandma of Andrew, Caroline and Matthew. Funeral Monday, September 10. POLLITT - Brian September 1, aged 77 years, died peacefully at Ventress Hall Care Home after a long illness, very dear dad and grandad. Will be sadly missed. Funeral to take place on Wednesday, September 12. Would family and friends please meet for service at St. Mary's Church, Cockerton at 2.00 p.m., followed by cremation at Darlington. Flowers are welcome and may be sent c/o Co-operative Funeral-care, Darlington by 12 noon on Wednesday, September 12.

PRATT - September 1 (peacefully, in Weardale Community Hospital, Stanhope, with his family around him), of Fairfield Cottages, Stanhope. William (Billy) aged 80 years, a dearly beloved husband of the late Vicky a dearly loved and loving uncle and great-uncle. Interment Thursday, September 13 in Crosshill Cemetery, Stanhope, following a service in St. Thomas' Church, Stanhope at 2.00 p.m. Friends please meet at Church. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made for Weardale Community Hospital. A plate will be provided at the Methodist School Room Stanhope. Refresh ments will be provided at the School Room after the interment. The family of William would like to thank all of the staff at Weardale Community Hospital for all of their compassion and care at this difficult time.
