Friends please meet for service at St. Paul's Church, Hunwick on Friday, August 17 at 12.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to The Diabetes Fund, c/o Dr. Alan McCulloch, Bishop Auckland General Hospital.

WALKER - On August 9, in hospital. Elsie Margaret (nee Stephenson), aged 78 years, formerly of Harmire Road, Barnard Castle. Beloved wife of the late Leslie Walker, dearly loved mother of Valerie and Richard, dear mother-in-law of Gary and Susan and loving gran of Charlotte, Emma and Samantha. Friends please meet for service at St. Mary's Church, Staindrop on Thursday, August 16 at 11.30 a.m., followed by private interment. Family flowers only please.

WEBB - Nanna Webb On August 12, 2007, peacefully, of Newton Aycliffe. Edith, aged 76 years, a loving mother of Edward, Gillian, Tracy and the late Robert, Bertie and Gwendolyne, dear mother-in-law of Dave, a much treasured nanna and great-nanna. Funeral Thursday, August 16. Would friends please meet for service at Darlington Crematorium 11.45 a.m. It was Edith's wish that bright colours be worn. Sleep well, have many happy dreams, hugs and kisses. Love all of us xxx

Gwen (nee Lamb), aged 83 years, dear wife of the late Jack, precious mam of Ann, John and David and a dear mother-in-law, also a devoted nan and great-nan. Cremation Thursday, August 16 at Darlington, following a service in the crematorium chapel at 1.15 p.m. Friends please meet at the crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired, may be made to The Great North Air Ambulance, Grange Road, Darlington. A collection plate will be provided at the crematorium.

WINNING - August 15, (suddenly), but peacefully, of Hall Lane Estate, Willington. James Daniel (Danny), ex Durham Constabulary and local Bandsman, aged 75 years. Beloved husband of Shirley, also a dearly loved father, step-father, grandad and great-grandad. Friends please meet for service at St. Stephen's Church, Willington on Wednesday August 22, at 10.20 a.m. followed by cremation at Durham. All are welcome for refreshments afterwards at Willington Cricket Club. Family flowers only please.

Margaret Ann (Peggy), aged 86 years, beloved wife of the late Albert, loving mother of Fred and Frank and a dear mother-in-law, nana, great-nana and sister. Friends please meet for service in St. John's Church, Meadowfield on Friday, August 17 at 11.30 a.m., followed by interment in Ushaw Moor Cemetery. Floral tributes may be sent to N. Alderson Funeral Directors, Flass Terrace, Ushaw Moor.

WOODTHORPE - August 14, peacefully at home in Sadberge. Eric, aged 81 years, dearly loved husband of Mary, much loved dad of Frances and Michael and dear grandad of Ruth, Laura and Hannah. Funeral Monday, August 20. Friends please meet for service at Darlington Crematorium at 3.45 p.m. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, may be sent for the Macmillan Nurses, c/o Seaton Leng and Son Ltd., Bondgate, Darlington, DL3 7JR.

ARMITAGE - August 8 (at home, with his family around him), of Newton Aycliffe and Shildon. John Michael (Mike), aged 60 years, a dearly loved husband of Audrey, a dearest dad of David and John and a dear father-in-law of Kim, a special grandad to Paul and Ben, a loved brother-in-law to Alan and Kath and Joan and Neil, a precious nephew of Cora and Irene and their families also a dear lifelong friend to Mike. Will be sadly missed by all of his many friends from Shildon A.F.C., The Northern League and The F.A. Cremation Tuesday, August 14 at Darlington, following a service in St. John's Church, Shildon at 12.45 p.m. Friends please meet at Church. No flowers please, by request. Donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired, may be passed to Audrey, these donations will be passed to the organisations that have supported Mike throughout his long illness. A football man through and through.

Ken, aged 75 years, beloved husband of Iris, devoted dad to David, Paul and Ann, father-in-law to Karen and Mike, a much loved grandad to Catherine, Laura, James and Rachel. Will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends. Friends please meet for service at St. Oswald's Church, Durham on Friday August 10 at 9.15 a.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. ATKIN - August 7, peacefully in hospital, of Darlington. Norman, aged 87 years, dearly loved dad of Rosalind and Eddie and a much loved pop of Marie, Elizabeth and Clare. Funeral Tuesday, August 14. Friends please meet for service in Darlington Crematorium at 1.15 p.m.

ATKINSON - August 4, peacefully at home in Newton Aycliffe (formerly of Wheatley Hill). David, aged 63 years beloved husband of Christine, loving dad of Gary, Graeme, Andrew, Joseph and Sharon, also a much loved son, brother, father-in-law and grandad. Will friends please meet for service at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Newton Aycliffe on Friday, August 10 at 11.00 a.m., prior to cremation at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if so desired may be made to the Macmillan Nurses (Plate at Church).

AYRE - Gwen (nee Scott), died peacefully July 31, 2007. Loving mother of Gill and Tony and sister to Frank. Funeral took place on August 3 in Bristol.

BARKER - August 4, peacefully in hospital, of Burneston. Evelyn Mary, aged 87 years, beloved wife of the late William Cussan, dearly loved mum of Arthur and Nancy, also a dear mother-in-law, granny and great-grandma. Funeral service to be held at Carthorpe Methodist Chapel on Monday, August 13 at 11.00 a.m., followed by private cremation. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, for Carthorpe Methodist Chapel.

BEAN - August 7, of Witbank Road, Darlington. Frank, aged 90 years, beloved husband of Wilna, dearly loved father of Sheila, much loved grandad of Glenn and Pamela and great-grandad of Peter, Glenn, Robbie and Nicola. Funeral Monday, August 13. Friends please meet for service in the West Cemetery Chapel at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment.

Gladys, aged 89 years, devoted wife of the late John George, a much loved mother of Joan and Allen and his partner Margaret, mother-in-law to Sylvia and Ralph, loving grandmother of Julie and John and great-grandmother. Funeral to take place on Thursday, August 9. Would friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium at 1.00 p.m. No flowers please, by request. Donations in lieu to St. Cuthbert's Hospice. Plate provided at the Crematorium.

BLADES - August 8, peacefully at home, of Pine Lea, Brandon. Joan, aged 82 years, dearly loved wife of Bobby and a much loved mam, nana and great-nana. Friends please meet for service in St. Andrew's Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 14 at 12.15 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham. Friends welcome for refreshments at Meadowfield Club after-wards.

BOWMAN - Leslie, of Evenwood died peacefully at home on August 8, aged 70 years. Beloved husband of Jean, a much loved dad of Paul, also a dearest brother and brother-in-law. Funeral service at Darlington Crematorium on Thursday August 16 at 2.15 p.m. Will friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. No flowers by request. Donations if desired for Bishop Auckland Macmillan Nurses. A plate will be provided at the Crematorium Chapel.

BROOKS - Joanna Ruth (nee Hinton), died Saturday, July 28, 2007, aged 44 years. After a long illness bravely fought, Jo is now with the Lord she loved so much. A Memorial Service is to be held at the Church of St. Andrew the Great, St. Andrew's Street, Cambridge, CB2 3AX on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 12.00 noon.

BURNIP - On August 7 (suddenly) of Brandon (formerly of Tudhoe). Leslie (Les), aged 74 years, a devoted husband of Doreen and loving dad of Stephen, Gary and Malcolm, also a much loved father-in-law, grandad and great-grandad. Family and friends please meet for service at St. John's Church, Meadowfield on Wednesday, August 15 at 1.00 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium 2.00 p.m.
