ADAMS October 8 (peacefully, in hospital), of Princess Road, Darlington. William (Bill), aged 78 years, beloved husband of the late Marjorie. Funeral Monday, October 13. Would friends please meet 9.45 a.m. for service at Darlington Crematorium.

ANDREW October 6 (peacefully at home), of Morton-on-Swale. Dorothy Mary, aged 93 years, loving mother of Margaret and Pauline, grandmother of Julie Anne, Richard, James and Paul, great-grandmother of Emma and Alex. Funeral Thursday, October 16. ARKWRIGHT October 8 (suddenly, but peacefully), of Wylam Street, Bowburn. Doris, aged 63 years, beloved wife of George, devoted mam of Ian and Tracey, a sadly missed mother-in-law of Donna and David, a treasured grandma of Allen and Andrea, beloved sister of Elizabeth. Would friends please meet for service at Bowburn Methodist Church on Tuesday October 14 at 1.15 p.m. prior to private cremation. No flowers by request. Donations to chapel.

BANNISTER October 3 (peacefully, in hospital), of West Rainton and formerly Nottingham. Conny, aged 81 years, retired Assistant Land Registrar, a loving and much loved friend. Would friends please meet for service at Durham Crematorium on Monday October 13 at 2.00 p.m.

BATEY October 5 (peacefully), of Bishop Auckland. Rose, aged 78 years, a loving sister, aunt and great-aunt. Friends please meet for service in St. Wilfred's R.C. Church, Bishop Auckland on Thursday October 9 at 12 noon, followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. Bus provided to crematorium.

BEESLEY October 2 (peacefully, in hospital), of Cherry Garth, Thirsk. Maud, aged 100 years, beloved wife of the late James, loving mother of Colin, Pat and Pam, a dear mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma. The funeral service will be held at St. Oswald's Church, Sowerby on Thursday, October 11 at 1.30 p.m., followed by private cremation. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the British Heart Foundation.

BOTTOMLEY Donald aged 73 died October 8, peasefully at home in Carlton Miniott. Funeral will take place at St Laurens Church, 11.00am Wednesday October 15.

Jack, aged 92 years, a dear husband of the late Mary, a much loved dad, grandad and great-grandad and a father-in-law. Service in the Village Methodist Church, Ferryhill on Tuesday at 12.00 noon followed by private interment. Friends please meet at church.

Mary Thelma, aged 63 years, loving wife of Kit, beloved mother of Teresa, Peter, Denise, Trevor and Deborah, very dear gran and great-gran, also much loved sister of Enid. Will friends please meet for service in The Valley Methodist Church on Friday, October 10 at 12.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium.

BROWN October 4, of Eden Road, Spennymoor. Valerie, aged 62 years, devoted wife of the late Derrick, dearly loved mam of Susan and David, a very dear grandma, great-grandma, mother-in-law, sister and sister-in-law. Would friends please meet in Trinity Methodist Church, Rosa Street, Spennymoor on Friday at 11.15 a.m. for a service followed by interment at Rock Road Cemetery. No flowers. Donations in lieu to the "Pallietive Care Fund", c/o Shirley Walton, Out Patients' Department, Shotley Bridge Hospital, County Durham.

Eleanor Constance, aged 90 years, beloved wife of the late Reginald, dearly loved mother of Christine, Philip and Andrew and a much loved mother-in-law and grandma. A life well lived. CALLUM October 7, 2003 (peacefully), of Framwellgate Moor. Muriel, aged 63 years, loving wife of Gordon, loving mother to Julie, Neil, Graham and Stephen, very dear grandma to Zoe, Gemma, Kelly and Chloe, mother-in-law to Leslie, Paul, Mandy and Nichola. Friends meet for service 9.00 a.m. Durham Crematorium, Friday, October 10.

CHAMBERLAIN Jeanette October 8, after a long, brave fight against breast cancer, of Eaglescliffe. Jeanette, aged 51 years, greatly loved wife to Richard, mother to Michael, Adele and David, mother-in-law to Sue and Jon, grandmother to Paul, Chloe and James. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Special thanks to all staff at the Butterwick Hospice. Friends to meet for service at Middlesbrough Spiritualist Church, 115 Borough Road at 1.00 p.m. on Monday, October 13. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, for the Butterwick Hospice.

COTTON October 6 (suddenly, in hospital), of Asquith Street, Thornley. Sid, aged 82 years, beloved husband of the late Violet and loving father to the late Ronald and brother to Gladys and Fred. COUNTER Arthur John, aged 89 years, died on Friday, October 3, much loved by his daughter and son-in-law Judith and Geoffrey and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Requiem Mass 12.30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 at St. Cuthbert's R.C. Church, Old Elvet, Durham followed by private interment. No flowers by request. Donations to Arthritis Research Campaign, Copeman House, St. Mary's Port, St. Mary's Gate, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S41 7TD.

CROOKS October 9, of Weardale Street, Spennymoor, formerly of Chilton. Cyril, aged 84 years, dearly loved husband of the late Irene, dearest dad of Bob, Ann, Stuart and John, a dear father-in-law and a loving grandad, great-grandad and a brother to Tony. Service at Durham Crematorium Chapel on Tuesday at 12.00 noon. Would friends please meet at the crematorium. No flowers by request. Donations in lieu to Alzheimer's Research Trust and Cancer Prevention Research Trust. A plate will be provided at the crematorium.

Beloved husband of the late Lily, dearly loved partner of Dorothy, loving father of Patricia and Derek, a dear grandad of Joanne and Ian and Neil and will be sadly missed by all the family. To be received into St. Joseph's R.C. Church on Thursday, October 9 at 6.00 p.m., for Requiem Mass on Friday at 10.00 a.m., followed by interment in the churchyard. Dearly loved husband of Margaret (Peggy), much loved and loving dad of Glynis, dear father-in-law of Geoffrey, devoted grandad of Paul and Emma and a loving brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral service in St. Paul's Church, Brompton On Swale on Wednesday, October 8 at 9.30 a.m., followed by cremation at Darlington at 10.45 a.m. Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only.
