Johnathan W. Morrell

PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Johnathan W. Morrell, 77, No. 8 Phelps Place, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at the home of a son in Portsmouth.
He was a native of Bluff City and had lived in Portsmouth for 47 years.
He retired from Norfolk Truck Center and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Morrell; five daughters, Mary Wynn, Brenda Edwards, Barbara McFarland, Freda Hartung, Darlene Wilcox; five sons, Jerry Morrell, Gene Morrell, Donald Morrell, Roger Morrell and Bobby Morrell; two sisters, Margie Friesland and Ethel Glover; two brothers, Woodrow Morrell and J.D. Morrell; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Martha V. Perry

WISE, Va. -- Martha Valice Perry, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, in Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital, Wise.
She was the widow of Joseph Leonard Perry and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard Perry and Paul Perry; two daughters, Alice Virginia Puckett and Bessie Butler; two sisters, Leeada Bates and Evelyn Cowell; and 11 grandchildren.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge.

Pauline Smith

BLOUNTVILLE -- Geneva Pauline Woods Smith, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, in Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Scott County, Va., and moved to this area at an early age.
She attended Glenwood Community Church, Hiltons, Va.
She was the widow of Harold Smith.
Survivors include one brother, J.E. Woods, Blountville; one granddaughter, Ms. Reba Penley, Blountville; and two great-grandchildren, Mandy Penley and Brandy Thomas.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge.

Harvey E. Ball

COEBURN -- Harvey Edgar Ball, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital, Norton.
He was a retired coal miner and a former employee of Coeburn Produce Company.
He was a member of Coeburn Masonic Lodge 97, Coeburn RAC 79, and the Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ball; one son, Jerry Edgar Ball, Coeburn; one daughter, Judy Ball Call, Coeburn; one grandson, Raymond "Tooter" Call, Abingdon; one step-grandson, Adam Kevin Mullins, Coeburn; one granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Ball, Coeburn; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, is in charge.

Margaret S. Beeton

CLARKSVILLE, Va. -- Mrs. Margaret Smart Beeton, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Halifax Regional Hospital.
She was a native of Portland, Maine and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1935 where she worked for the Justice Department and Railroad Retirement Board.
She retired from a Civil Service position at Ft. Belvoir and moved to Clarksville, Va., in 1990.
She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
She was the widow of Marion Lewis Beeton.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Watson, Bristol, Tennessee and Virginia Donovan, Buffalo, N.Y.; two sons, Dennis James Beeton, Woodbridge, and Paul Beeton, Clarksville; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday in Manassas, Va.
Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, is in charge.

Jessie E. Bishop

FORT BLACKMORE -- Jessie Eugene Bishop, 76, of Route 1, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1997, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and retired from Tennessee Eastman Chemical Company in 1984, after 37 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Venus Lane Bishop; two daughters, Carolyn Kern, of the home, and Mrs. Wiley (Elizabeth) Johnson, Bristol, Virginia; two sons, Charles Dayton Bishop, Ft. Blackmore, and Arnold Eugene Bishop, Athens, Tenn.; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, is in charge.

Lutrelle P. Branyon

AUBURN, Maine -- Lutrelle Patterson Branyon, 71, formerly of Madison County, Ga., Elloree and Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Clover Manor Health Care Center.
She was a native of Madison County, and graduated from Winterville High School, Winterville, Ga.
She was the widow of Elmer Branyon.
She served as a teacher's aide and professional seamstress. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years and was instrumental, with her husband, in helping to establish Maranatha Bible Camp, Ila, Ga.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane Muise, Auburn, Donna Woodson, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and Denise Smith, Lewiston, Maine; one son, Jonathan Branyon, Iva, S.C.; one sister, Myra Smith, Hull, Ga.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Danielsville, Ga.
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge.

Bonnie M. Coldiron

Mrs. Bonnie Mae Coldiron, 95, of 20110 Orion Ave., Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
She was a native of Whitetop, had lived in Bristol for the past 24 years and was the widow of Levi Coldiron.
She was a member of Farmer Memorial Baptist Church, Ashe County, N.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Bannie Smith and Elenor Tate, both of Bristol, Virginia; one son, Bobby Coldiron, Ypsilanti, Mich.; three sisters, Lillian Pachey and Levon Sheldon, both of Bluefield, W.Va., and Bertha Foley, Toledo, Ohio; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Johnson Funeral Home, Damascus, is in charge.

Harry L. Dover

Harry Lee Dover, 56, of 2229 Anderson St., Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He had lived in Bristol for the past 30 years and was a member of West Hills Christian Church.
He was formerly employed with Overnite Transportation, Bristol Steel and Iron Works and, most recently, A&M Motor Express.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Arrants Dover; two sons, Christopher Lee Dover, Bristol, Tennessee and Sean Monroe Dover, Virginia Beach, Va.; five sisters, Louise Turenne and Martha Lanham, both of Charlotte, N.C., Lauree Hagler, Matthews, N.C., Doris Moore, Waxhaw, N.C., and Diane Price, Surfside Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Johnny Dover, Charlotte, N.C., Lawrence Dover, Clarksville, Tenn., Bill Dover, Bristol, Tennessee, and Clarence Dover, Holden Beach, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.
