Myrtle Rasnake

CLEVELAND, Va. -- Mrs. Myrtle Rasnake, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Russell County and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Rasnake; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Janice) Musick and Mrs. Tom (Shirley) Owens, both of Cleveland; three sons, Larry W. Rasnake, Roy E. Rasnake and Kenneth E. Rasnake, all of Lebanon; three sisters, Mrs. Maudie Breeding, Cleveland, Mrs. Martha Martin, Dante, and Mrs. Vertie Powers, Clincho, and eight grandchildren.
Russell County Funeral Home is in charge.

R. Homer Reid

CHILHOWIE -- Russell Homer Reid, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., and had lived in Chilhowie for the past 40 years.
He was the owner and operator of Reid's Store, a retired farmer and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, Chilhowie.
Survivors include his wife, Julia "Judy" Reid; two sons, James R. "Jim" Reid, Chilhowie, and William H. Reid, Stuarts Draft, Va.; one brother, Heird Reid, Mountain City; and one granddaughter.
Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie, is in charge.

Garland G. Stout

COEBURN -- Garland G. Stout, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998 in Norton Community Hospital.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and was a former employee of Power Equipment Company, Kingsport.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Stout; four sons, Delmer Stout, Salem, Va., Lowell Stout, Tazewell, Randall Stout, Coeburn, and Dennis Stout, Knoxville; one brother, Harold Stout, Coeburn; one sister, Geraldine Fritz, Coeburn; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Estes Funeral Home is in charge.

Elizabeth E. Birchfield

POUND -- Elizabeth Ellen Owens Birchfield, 82, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in Clintwood, Va.
She was a member of Lick Fork Freewill Baptist Church, was the widow of her first husband, Clyde Owens, and the widow of her second husband, Bill Birchfield.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Powers, Pound; two sons, Bobby Owens, Pound, and Jerry Owens, Coeburn; three sisters, Oda Hubbard, Knoxville, Clara Buchanan, Radford, and Eliza Mullins, Kentucky; three brothers, Estil Browning, Pound, Connie Browning and Alec Browning, both of Clintwood; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Baker Funeral Home, Pound, is in charge.

Jessie E. Bishop

FORT BLACKMORE -- Jessie Eugene Bishop, 76, of Route 1, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1997, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and retired from Tennessee Eastman Chemical Company in 1984, after 37 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Venus Lane Bishop; two daughters, Carolyn Kern, of the home, and Mrs. Wiley (Elizabeth) Johnson, Bristol, Virginia; two sons, Charles Dayton Bishop, Ft. Blackmore, and Arnold Eugene Bishop, Athens, Tenn.; three granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, is in charge.

Charlie T. Blankenship

RAVEN -- Charlie Thomas Blankenship Jr., 74, of Red Root Ridge section, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in a Richlands, Va., hospital.
He was a native of Russell County, a retired coal miner and a member of Bible Way Church, Raven.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Louise Ellen Cordle Blankenship; six sons, James Blankenship, Fred Blankenship, Noah David Blankenship and Ronald Blankenship, all of Raven, Roger Blankenship, Paint Lick, Va., and Roy Blankenship, Doran; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Mary) Mabe, Doran, and Mrs. Bob (Barbara) Mullins, Raven; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Jackson and Mrs. Thelma Peck, both of Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, is in charge.

Harry L. Dover

Harry Lee Dover, 56, of 2229 Anderson St., Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He had lived in Bristol for the past 30 years and was a member of West Hills Christian Church.
He was formerly employed with Overnite Transportation, Bristol Steel and Iron Works and, most recently, A&M Motor Express.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Arrants Dover; two sons, Christopher Lee Dover, Bristol, Tennessee and Sean Monroe Dover, Virginia Beach, Va.; five sisters, Louise Turenne and Martha Lanham, both of Charlotte, N.C., Lauree Hagler, Matthews, N.C., Doris Moore, Waxhaw, N.C., and Diane Price, Surfside Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Johnny Dover, Charlotte, N.C., Lawrence Dover, Clarksville, Tenn., Bill Dover, Bristol, Tennessee, and Clarence Dover, Holden Beach, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Frank J. Guerrera Sr.

RAVEN -- Frank J. Guerrera Sr., 90, of Mill Creek section, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of New Orleans, a retired auto body repairman and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Virlardo Guerrera.
Survivors include one son, Frank J. Guerrera Jr., Raven; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, is in charge.

James D. Hughes

James D. "Doug" Hughes, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Abingdon, had lived most of his life in Bristol, and was a member of Fellowship Chapel Church.
He was a civil service employee with the Department of the Army retiring after 35 years of service, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyne Robert Hughes; two sons, Kenneth E. Hughes, Bristol, Virginia, and James D. Hughes Jr., Knoxville; three brothers, E.T. Hughes, Blountville, John Paul Hughes, Jonesville, and Tony L. Hughes, Abingdon; one sister, Mrs. Jean H. Bain, Dowington, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Nora L. Jennings

CLINCHCO -- Nora L. Jennings, 92, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in Dickenson County Medical Center, Clintwood.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and was of the Baptist faith.
She was a former midwife in the Dickenson and Russell County area.
She had resided with her niece, Virginia White, in Clinchco, and was the widow of Clabe Jennings.
Survivors include one daughter, Lois Powers, Castlewood; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, is in charge.
