Mary A. Senter

Mary Anna Stone Senter, 84, of 100 Knollwood Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and the widow of Harry Lee Senter Sr., who was a former Representative in the Tennessee House of Representatives for 14 years.
She was a sustaining member of Blue Stocking Club, a member of Bristol Humane Society and a former member of Bristol, Tennessee Board of Education.
She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Celeste Senter and Mary Cheryl Senter, both of Bristol, Tennessee; two sons, Harry Lee Senter Jr., Bristol, Tennessee, and Dr. Riley Stone Senter, Knoxville; one sister, Ida Stone Jones, Bristol, Tennessee; three grandsons; one nephew; and several nieces.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Douglas E. Shaw

MOUNTAIN CITY -- The Rev. Douglas E. Shaw, 61, of 306 Shoun Street, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City.
He was a native of Washington County, Va., and had made his home in Mountain City most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Debord Shaw in 1988, and was a member of Rainbow Baptist Church.
He was a radio preacher on WMCT for 25 years and on WABN for nine years, ran the Bread of Life Ministry and was involved in prison ministry.
He was an employee of Levi Strauss for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his fiancee, Sharon McQueen, Shady Valley; one daughter, Teresa Miller, Butler, Tenn.; two sons, Jeff and Steve Shaw, both of Mountain City; three sisters, Jean Snader, Bristol, Virginia, Virgie Farmer, Concord, N.C., and Mary Bertrand, Sam Sayburn, Texas; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Henson Funeral Home, Mountain City, is in charge.

Bobbie Slagle

CLEVELAND -- Bobbie Slagle, 57, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998.
He was a native of Damascus and moved to Cleveland in 1955.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ramonia Garland Slagle; two daughters, Tammy Spears and Carol Brown, both of Cleveland; one son, Clifton Slagle, Cleveland; four brothers, Billy Joe and Larry, both of Cleveland, Ronnie, Kentucky, and Darrell, Damascus; three sisters, Brenda Trivett and Rita Adams, both of Damascus, and Barbara Blevins, Cleveland; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday in Cleveland. Craciun Funeral Home, Cleveland is in charge.

Daniel L. Steffey

AURORA, Ill. -- Daniel Lee Steffey, 19, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Castlewood.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry Steffey and Ellen Quigley Steffey, Montgomery, Ill.; one brother, Jerry Wayne Steffey II, Aurora, Ill.; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bruce (Iona) Steffey, Castlewood; his maternal grandparents, Wilber and Norma Quigley, Aurora, Ill,; one niece; and four cousins.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Aurora, Ill.
Huff-Cook Funeral Home, Castlewood, is in charge.

Ruby L. Watts

MORRISTOWN -- Ruby L. Watts, 78, of 2292 Roe Junction Road, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, Morristown.
She was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church and was the widow of Sam Watts.
Survivors include six sons, Charles and Paul Watts, both of Morristown, James Watts, Russellville, Ralph Watts, Mohawk, Ronnie Watts, Okeechobee, Fla., and Bert Watts, Lancaster, Ky.; two daughters, Stella West, Mosheim, and Linda Bible, Morristown; one sister, Edna Roberts, Bristol, Virginia; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in Morristown with burial to be held Sunday in Morristown.
Westside Chapel Funeral Home, Morristown, is in charge.

Virgie Berry

Virgie Berry, 88, formerly of Bristol, Tennessee, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Greendale Home for the Aged.
She was a native of Elizabethton.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley A. Hefner, Hickory, N.C., and Evelyn Grindstaff, Elizabethton; one son, William "Billy" Oliver, Hickory, N.C.; four sisters, Viola Strouth, Bristol, Tennessee, Edna Shaffer, Bristol, Virginia, Dorothy Deel, Newport News, Va., and Geraldine Parker, Kingsport; two brothers, Charles Berry, Baltimore, and J.C. Berry, Bristol, Tennessee; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

James P. Clark

James Paul Clark, 71, of 119 Gray Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was a member of Piney Flats Baptist Church, a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Smith Kline Beecham with 38 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Clark; three daughters, Mrs. Curt (Linda) Tackett, Bluff City, Mrs. Ron (Barbara) Courter, Bean Station, Tenn, and Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Mobley, Powell, Tenn.; four sisters, Leon Love, Betty Tester and Neva Sturgill, all of Bristol, Tennessee, and Edna Pence, Bristol, Virginia; one brother, Marvin "Bob" Clark, Bristol, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

James E. Coe Jr.

MEADOWVIEW -- James E. "Gabby" Coe Jr., 68, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He had lived all his life in Tazewell and Washington counties.
Survivors include four brothers, George B. Coe, Marion, Everett C. Coe, Troutdale, Charles E. Coe, Saltville, and Roger W. Coe, Bluefield, Va.; one sister, Barbara Gilliland, Marion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Arthur Combs

COUNCIL -- Arthur Combs, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in a Richlands, Va., hospital.
He was a native of Buchanan County, a lifelong resident of the Buchanan County area, and a charter member of Tiller Town Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Presley Combs; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Harris, Honaker, and Helen Harris, Council; one stepson, Eugene Presley, Council; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

R.J. Dishner

Mr. R.J. Dishner, 94, of Bristol, Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was a native of Blountville, had lived all his life in the Bristol area and was a retired woodworker with Bristol Door.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Dishner; five nieces, Joan Chestnut, Fredericksburg, Va., Phyllis Goudarzi, Elizabeth Jones and Mary Humphries, all of Johnson City, and Eugenia Grosso, Summitt, N.J.; five nephews, Gene Graybeal, Johnson City, Jim Graybeal, Phoenix, N.J., Marion Graybeal, Richmond, Don Roberts, Bluff City, and Pat Graybeal, Piney Flats; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Glenn T. Feathers

Glenn T. Feathers, 81, of 400 Shelby Street, Apartment 216, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bluff City and the Bristol area, a retired employee of the City of Bristol, Virginia, working at Virginia High School, and a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Bluff City VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Willene Feathers; one daughter, Norma Venable, Bristol, Tennessee; two sons, Thomas E. Feathers and Jerry A. Feathers, both of Bristol, Tenn.,; one sister, Helen Meadows, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, David Feathers, Ormond Beach. Fla.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
