Kevin Parker

Kevin Parker, 33, of 1106 Tremont Avenue, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998.
He was an employee of Richards Automotive, Blountville, a graduate of Tennessee High School and a member of Central Christian Church.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Bob and Helen Parker, Bristol, Tennessee; two sisters, Karen Mallonee, Frankford, Germany, and Kimberly Worley, Bluff City; one brother, Keith Parker, Church Hill, Tenn.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Billy R. Rowe

HONAKER -- Billy Ray (Shaw) Rowe, 57, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Buchanan County.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Rowe, Rowe, and William Rowe, Keen Mountain; two daughters, Mrs. Drema Keen, Pilgrims Knob, and Angela Rowe, Keen Mountain; his mother, Mrs. Nancy Cooper Rowe, Honaker; one brother, James Rowe, Little Prater, Va.; and two granddaughters.
Buchanan Funeral Service, Keen Mountain, is in charge.

Charles W. Turner Jr.

Charles W. Turner Jr., 81, of Bristol, Virginia, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, was retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Wampler Turner.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Turner, San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Betty Goss, Miami, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Frankie J. Vanover

CLINTWOOD -- Frankie Jane Vanover, 60, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church, and prior to her illness was employed as a nurse for Dr. Patricia H. Vanover.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn Vanover ; three sons, Phillip Vanover, Mark Vanover and David Vanover, all of Clintwood; one brother, Ralph Vanover, Clintwood; one sister, Donna DeBoard, Waldorf, Md.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home, Clintwood, is in charge.

William A. Watson

William A. "Bill" Watson, 70, of 605 Maryland Avenue, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, Tennessee, a retired owner/operator of Bill Watson Concrete Construction Company and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen S. Watson; three daughters, Deanna Linkous, Kathy Waddell and Lyndia Hopkins, all of Bristol, Tennessee; two sisters, Faye Wright, Bristol, Virginia, and Peggy Stapleton, Sparta, Tenn.; one brother, Jack Watson, Bristol, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Laban T. Wellman Sr.

GLADE SPRING -- Laban Theodore Wellman Sr., 88, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of West Virginia and had lived in Dickenson County before moving to Washington County in 1975.
He was a coal miner for 41 years and was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Wellman.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Wellman, State College, Penn., Laban T. "Jack" Wellman Jr., McClure, Tom Wellman, Glade Spring, and Ernie Wellman, Leesburg, Fla.; five daughters, Jean Wellman, Bristol, Virginia, Vada Rose, Clintwood, Lassie Eide, Meadowview, Capt. Barbara Wellman, New Memphis, Ill., and Pamela Heath, Chilhowie; two brothers, Fred Wellman, Charleston, W.Va., and Damon Wellman, Harrisburg, Penn.; five sisters, Thelma Grubb, Man, W.Va., Anna Baisen, Naugatuck, W.Va., Beulah Spaulding, Dingess, W.Va., Vada Barnett, Vera Beach, Fla., and Margie Ratliff, Greensboro, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Farris Funeral Home, Abingdon, is in charge.

Paul L. Arrington

KINGSPORT -- Paul Louis Arrington, 70, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a native of Princeton, W.Va., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a graduate of Concord College, Athens, W.Va., and the University of Virginia at Charlottesville.
He was band director at William King High School, Abingdon, from 1950-1957.
He moved to Kingsport in the summer of 1957 as band director of Dobyns Bennett High School, a position he held until he was appointed director of The Fine Arts Program where he started a string instrument program for the city school system.
He served in this position until his retirement in 1986.
After retirement he was active in private music teaching, Meals On Wheels and other activities for the benefit of others.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Jane Palmer Arrington; one son, Jeffrey Arrington, Kingsport; one brother, Dewie L. Arrington; two grandchildren, Emily Rose Arrington and Jordan Louis Arrington; and several nieces and nephews.
East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Lewis C. Bentley

BIG STONE GAP -- Lewis Clayton Bentley, 45, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Wellmont Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Alice Jackson Bentley.
He was of the Church of Christ faith and was a manager of Marks Lube & Go.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He had lived in Kingsport for the past 15 years coming from Wise, Va.
Survivors include one son, Johnathan Bentley, Kingsport; one daughter, Dawn Collier, Mt. Airy, N.C.; two brothers, Harrison Bentley, Speight, Ky., and Paul Bentley, Coeburn; four sisters, Ruby Wireman, Coeburn, Wilma Teasley and Willa Teasley, both of Wise, and Fayetta Johnson, Big Stone Gap; and two grandchildren.
Gilliam Funeral Home is in charge.

Emanuel Brown

MARION -- Emanuel Brown, 46, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Minnie Brown, Marion; two brothers, Fred Brown, Marion, and Ernie Brown, Chilhowie; and one sister, Miss Wanda Brown, Marion.
Barnett's Funeral Home, Marion, is in charge.

Vesta G. Davis

KINGSPORT -- Vesta Gullett Davis, 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was a native of Dante, Va. and had lived in Kingsport most of her adult life.
She was a member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Mack Lafon Davis.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty Davis, Kingsport; three sons, Bill Davis, Afton, Tenn., Tony Davis, Abingdon, and Roger Davis, Kingsport; seven grandchildren; and one half-sister, Nell Ward.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge.
