James Bolinsky

EXETER -- James "Gazel" Bolinsky, 78, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was a life long resident of the area and was of the Christian faith.
He was a member of UMWA Local No. 1405 and was a retired coal miner of Westmoreland Coal.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Bolinsky; two daughters, Jo Ann Lambert Ball and Anetha Clark, both of Big Stone Gap; one brother, William Bolinsky, Romulus, Mich.; and four gandsons.
Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, is in charge.

Bobby G. Brewer
Bobby Gene Brewer, 57, of 11381 Goose Creek Road, Bristol, Va., died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, Virginia and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was retired from Valleydale and was a former owner of Bi-Rite Market.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Brewer; three daughters, Kimberly Jo Brewer and Melanie Brewer Smith, both of Bristol, Virginia and Cheryl Brewer Young, Bristol, Tennessee; five sisters, Mae McReynolds and Vernell Smith, both of Bristol, Tennessee, Virgie Hayton, Bristol, Virginia, Shirley Holtzapple, Ocean City, Md., and Barbara Proffitt, Brandenton, Fla; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Gary L. Carter

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Gary Lynn "Red" Carter, 45, died Sunday Feb. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Norton and was a 1970 graduate of John I. Burton High School.
He attended Clinch Valley College in Wise from 1970-73.
He had lived in Lenoir, N.C., for 12 years prior to entering service. He was a 12 year veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Desert Storm.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Dean Carter; two sons, Christopher Carter and Toby Carter, both of Springfield, Tenn.; his parents, Sherman and Bea Carter, Norton; two brothers, Charles "Charlie" Carter, Wise, and Larry J. Carter, Norton; three sisters, Charlotte Carter Lavinder, Roanoke, Shelby Carter Hurt, Norton, and Donna G. Carter, Christiansburg, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Springfield, Tenn., Thursday.

Ernest Fogleman

BLOUNTVILLE -- Ernest "Ernie" Fogleman, 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Russell County and had lived most of his life in Sullivan County.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was employed at Fluor Daniel Construction Company at Eastman Chemical Company as an electrician.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Lockhart Fogleman; one daughter, Lori Fogleman, Blountville; one son, Mark Fogleman, Bristol; one sister, Mrs. Hubert (Wanda) Shelton, Kingsport; three brothers, Trinkle Fogleman, Kingsport, Bill Fogleman and Herbert Fogleman, both of Blountville; two grandchildren; his mother and father-in-law, Olin and Maxie Lockhart, Jonesville, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruth W. Garrett

Ruth W. Garrett, 68, of 20 Shadow Grove Circle, Bristol, Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and was retired from Greys Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John R. "J.R." Garrett; six sisters, Lucy Steffey, Sallisaw, Okla., Ora Widiner and Grey Miller, both of Bristol, Virginia, Frances Blevins and Thelma Taylor, both of Bristol, Tennessee, and Eva Cunningham, Leesburg, Va.; two brothers, Herman Widiner, Glade Spring, Va., and Bobby Dean Widiner, Damascus, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.

Phyllis B. Harrison

CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. -- Mrs. Phyllis Ann Bandy Harrison, 40, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
She was a native of Tazewell County.
She was a former employee of the Mattie Williams Hospital and was also employed by Columbia Clinch Valley Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist for 15 years.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Harrison; one son, Jason Harrison, of the home; one brother, Michael Joey Bandy; six sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Jeanette) Ball and Ms. Rita Lowe, both of Hickory, N.C., Miss Joan Bandy, Princeton, W.Va., Mrs. Tom (Sharon) Nicholson, Acosta, Pa., Ms. Linda Kay Kerns, Freedom, Pa., and Mrs. Jim (Susan) Czeck, Anchorage, Alaska; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, is in charge.

Garland E. Haulsee

MARION -- Garland E. Haulsee, 69, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was retired from Brunswick with 40 years of service and was a member of Park Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Haga Haulsee; two daughters, Patricia Thomas and Debra Haulsee Bell, both of Marion; one son, Ronald Haulsee, Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

Melvin Karrigan

CASTLEWOOD -- Melvin "Mel" Karrigan, 62, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was a native of Baltimore, Md., grew up in Pontiac, Mich., and was a resident of Castlewood for the past 20 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marines in Japan.
He was an employee of Fluor Daniel, Kingsport, and a member of the Castlewood Town Council.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mays Karrigan; two daughters, Eva Ward and Rhonda Mason, both of Middlesboro, Ky.; one son, Joe Karrigan, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge.

Raymond T. Lancraft

ABINGDON -- Raymond T. Lancraft, 93, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Meriden, Conn., and lived in California for 46 years before retiring to Abingdon 21 years ago.
He was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church and served as a deacon at various Baptist churches throughout the years.
He was the oldest member of the Center Masonic Lodge No. 97 AF&AM in Meriden, Conn., where he was a member for 73 years.
He was a retired insurance agent.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Lancraft; one son, Paul Lancraft, Apopka, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Lancraft Rasnick, Abingdon; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Mabel M. Lundy

COEBURN -- Mabel Marie Lundy, 89, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital, Norton.
She was the widow of Walter Lundy.
She was a member of Mary's Chapel Church, Coeburn.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Ellen Powers, Shelby, Ohio and Lucy Marie Hale, Coeburn; one son-in-law; ten grandchildren, Danny Hale, Chattanooga, Randy Hale, Knoxville, Ronnie Hale, Roanoke, Tony Hale and Rita Longworth, both of Wise, Angela Collins, Coeburn, Sam Powers, Steve Powers, Geanneane Powers and Sharon Berry, all of Ohio; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
