RICHLANDS, Va. -- Mrs. Leona W. Maggard, 67, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
She was a native of Raleigh County, W.Va.
She was the widow of Dewey Rowe Maggard.
Survivors include one daughter, Sgt. Linda Childress, Manassas, Va.; five sons, Thomas Maggard, Paintlick, Va., Kenneth Maggard, Mabscott, W.Va., Bobby Maggard, Raven, Va., Jackie Maggard, Richlands, and Jimmy Maggard, Cedar Bluff; her mother, Mrs. Mattie Lee Adkins Webb, Rhodell, W.Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Tootsie Heath, Welch, W.Va., and Mrs. Toni Jennelle, Ohio; four brothers, Elmer Webb Jr., and Richard Webb, both of Pineville, W.Va., Dean Webb and Dennis Webb, both of Rhodell; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

CLINTWOOD -- Lucille McCown, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in
Green Gables Rest Home.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a member of Clintwood Chapter No. 1544 Order of the Eastern Star and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
She was the widow of Clayton McCown.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Mullins, Clintwood, and Nancy Cramer, Brunswick, Ga.; two sons, David McCown, Trapper Creek, Alaska, and Danny McCown, Catawba, N.C.; one godchild; two sisters, June Leone, California, and Betty Gaye, Hopper, Calif.; three brothers, Ralph Spear, Waco, Texas, John Spear, California, and Ival Spear Jr., Arizona; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Catherine L. "Cathy" Nash, 56, of 100 Courtland St., Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Russell County, and had lived in Bristol for 32 years.
She was a 1959 graduate of Lebanon High School.
She was an employee of Cozy Dozy and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Nash; one son, Jason Nash; of the home; four sisters, Linda Wynegar, Abingdon, Betty Price, Lebanon, Peggy Lloyd, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Cindy Byrd, Sevierville, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill Fields, Dublin, Va., and Samuel Fields, Gate City; and several nieces and nephews.

NORTON -- Hattie E. Parrott, 82, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was the widow of Paul M. Parrott.

Johnson and Louise Parrott, both of Norton, Henrietta Leonard, Tampa, Fla., and Maxine Cooper, Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, George Dean, Crown, W.Va., and Willard Dean, Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

May B. Pearman, 81, of Bristol, Tennessee, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol, Tennessee and the widow of Harold D. Pearman.
She was an active member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and United Sunday School Class.
She was a former employee of Parks-Belk.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Pam) Darnall, Northbrook, Ill.; two grandsons, Will Darnall, Tampa, Fla., and Jason Darnall, Elgin, Ill.; one great-grandson; and one niece.

Mary Gladys Rock, 90, of Bristol, Virginia died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and a graduate of Radford College. She was a retired school teacher.
She was the widow of Richard J. Rock and a member of North Bristol Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy R. Fleenor and Linda M. Rock, both of Bristol, Virginia; one son, Jimmy Rock, Blountville; two sisters, Margie Whicker and Artis Leonard, both of Bristol, Virginia; one brother, Calvin C. Leonard, Bristol, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Carter Self, 72, of 230 Silver Lake Road, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Indian Path Medical Center.
He was a native of Clintwood and had lived in this area since 1972. He was a driver for Mason Dixon Truck Lines, retiring in 1976.
He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Self.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Ballard, Belle, W.Va.; one son, Chad Self, Kingsport; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maxie Mullins and Dixie Sutherland, both of Clintwood, and Georgia Short, Washington D.C.; one brother, Jack Self, Washington D.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Noah Franklin Smith, 80, of 2654 Broad St., Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Cambridge House, Bristol, Tennessee.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was preceded in death by his wife, Delphia Foran Smith.
He was a retired driver for Overnite Transportation Company and was a member of Paperville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Jean Chapman, West Virginia; three sons, Donald Smith, Kentucky, Earl Smith, Bluff City, and Barry Smith, Bristol, Tennessee; one sister, Edith Holden, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, Paul Smith, Bristol, Tennessee; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the widow of Thier Lee Sturgill Sr.
She was a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church where she played the piano for 35 years.
Survivors include one son, Thier Lee Sturgill Jr., Chilhowie; one daughter, Susan Ann Sturgill Harlow, Reisterstown, Md.; one brother, David Chumbley, Elliston, Va.; three sisters, Virginia Houser, Richmond, Dorrence Brown, Pulaski, and Helen Gowans, Christiansburg, Va.; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
