Virgie C. Wood

ABINGDON -- Mrs. Virgie Counts Wood, 89, of 22449 Tartan Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Washington County, Va., and had lived in Chesapeake, Va., for many years before moving back to Abingdon in 1973.
She attended Greendale Chapel and was the widow of David Thomas Wood.
Survivors include one son, Ray D. Weaver, Norfolk; one stepson, David R. Wood, Escondido, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Daveen Beatty, Chillicothe, Ohio; three half-sisters, Mrs. Dora Cordell, Mrs. Lucy Graybeal and Mrs. Ruby Tester, all of Johnson City; two half-brothers, Richard Counts and J.C. Counts, both of Orlando, Fla.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Campbell Funeral Home, Abingdon, is in charge.

David C. Colley

ABINGDON -- David C. Colley, 77, of 332 Bradley Street, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Abingdon and had lived in the Abingdon area most of his life.
He was associated with Abingdon Frozen Food for 36 years, was a U.S. Army Staff Sgt. during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 12 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Gregory Colley; one daughter, Mrs. Doug (Elizabeth) Phillippi, Abingdon; one half-brother, Paul E. Lloyd, Charlotte, N.C.; two grandsons, Joseph David Phillippi and Jason Darren Phillippi, both of Abingdon; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Campbell Funeral Home, Abingdon, is in charge.

Mary E. Combs

ABINGDON -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Combs, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., a homemaker and the widow of D.C. Combs Sr.
She was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, J.W. Combs, Bristol, Virginia, D.C. Combs Jr., Paul Combs, Howard Combs and Allen Combs, all of Abingdon, and Steven Kyle, Cumberland Gap, Tenn.; seven daughters, Francis Church, Oxon Hill, Md., Mrs. Samuel (Mary) Jackson, Shirley Combs and Mrs. C.H. (Lola) Denton, all of Bristol, Tennessee, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy) Weaver, Bristol, Virginia, Mrs. Bobby (Ann) Lowry and Mrs. Larry (Erma) Brown, both of Abingdon; four sisters, Mrs. Lula Cecil, Mrs. Anna Arnold and Mrs. Pauline Berry, all of Bristol, Tennessee, and Mrs. Maude Yates, Abingdon; one brother, John Michaels, Abingdon; 36 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice M. Davenport

MARION -- Janice Marie Rolen Holmes Davenport, 57, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee.
She was the widow of Charles Alden Davenport.
Survivors include two daughters, Josie Denise Gates and Tonya Relchele Holmes, both of Marion; two brothers, Benny Rolen, Ripplemead, Va., and Olaf Rolen, Wise; four sisters, Novella Allison, Glade Spring, Elizabeth Starrlings, Glen Burnie, Md., Pearl Morrison, Stafford, Va., and Ernestine Davidson, Connersville, Ind.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ollie M. Galliher

ABINGDON -- Mrs. Ollie Mae Galliher, 74, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Russell County and had lived most of her life in Washington County, Va.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Wanda) Eastridge, Abingdon; four brothers, Earnest Elam, Nickelsville, Willie Elam and Vernon Elam, both of Lebanon, and Stanford Elam, Castlewood; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Carrie E. Goodson

ST. PAUL -- Carrier Elizabeth Goodson, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
She was a native of Dickenson County, a resident of St. Paul and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, St. Paul.
She was the widow of Carter Wade Goodson.
Survivors include three daughters, Veronica Sink, Roanoke, Venus Blevins, Castlewood, and Faith Goodson, St. Paul; three sons, Joel Phillips, Anderson, S.C., Gregory Goodson, Wise, and Jeffery Goodson, St. Paul; four sisters, Beulah Sullivan, Castlewood, Gladys Stanley, St. Paul, Beatrice Meade, Hampton, Va., and Patricia Davis, Kingsport; two brothers, McNeil Phillips, St. Paul, and Billy Phillips, Castlewood; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, is in charge.

Dollie H. Hibbitts

COEBURN -- Dollie Haynes Hibbitts, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was a former resident of Dickenson County, had lived in Russell and Wise Counties for the past few years, and was the widow of Robert Arnold Hibbitts.
Survivors include two daughters, Laverna Jewele, Coeburn, and Delilah Ferne Conley, Tazewell; three brothers, Marlin Haynes, Manassas, Tolly Haynes, Rustburg, Va., and Landon Haynes, Manassas; five sisters, Julia McFall, Mansfield, Ohio, Joyce Lee Willis, Fredricksburg, Minnie Phipps and Winnie Mullins, both of Clintwood, and Augusta Adams, Alexandria; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Bob A. Honaker Sr.

Bob Allen Honaker Sr., 61, of 153 Webb Court Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol, a U.S. Army Reserves Master Sgt., retired, was employed by Monroe and was retired from Orkin Exterminating.
He was a charter member of Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church and a former deacon at Fairmount Presbyterian Church.
He was a 1955 graduate of Tennessee High School.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Honaker; three sons, Stephen Rhea Honaker, Bristol, Tennessee, Bob Allen Honaker II, Winter Haven, Fla., and Christopher John Honaker, Bluff City; one daughter, Betty H. Gray, Bristol, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Linda S. Johnson

COEBURN -- Linda Sue Johnson, 50, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital.
She was of the Baptist faith, an employee of St. Mary's Hospital in the dietary department, and was a member of the Sandy Ridge Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include seven brothers, Ronnie Johnson, Abingdon, Jerry Johnson, Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Johnson, Coeburn, Buddy Joe Johnson, Clintwood, Dennie Johnson, Nora, Gray Johnson, Silverdale, Wash., and Archie Johnson, Ashland, Ohio; three sisters, Reba Johnson and Betty Johnson, both of Coeburn, and Nancy Cannon, Ashdown, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, is in charge.

Virginia L. Kistner

Virginia Lee Kistner, 90, of 205 Beechwood Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of North Carolina and had lived most of her life in Bristol. She was the widow of Clarence E. Kistner and a member of Fellowship Chapel.
Survivors include one son, Doug Kistner, with whom she made her home in recent years; two half-sisters, Mrs. Harry (Arizona) Hopson and Mrs. Jim (Julia) Miller, both of Hampton, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.
