Marie H. Leonard
ATKINS -- Marie Henderlite Leonard, 73, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a native of Roanoke, had lived in Atkins most of her life, and was the widow of Frank Leonard.
She was a member of the Church of God, Atkins, and was retired from Harwood.
Survivors include two sons, David Leonard, Charlotte, N.C., and Richard Leonard, Wytheville; her mother, Mary Agee Henderlite, Atkins; three brothers, Jack Henderlite, Lewis Henderlite and Harlo Henderlite, all of Atkins; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Inez M. Lockner
BLUFF CITY -- Inez M. Lockner, 88, of 437 Hayes Road, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Hickory Tree community, a member of Hickory Tree Union Church where she taught Sunday school for several years, and the widow of Joseph P. "Joe" Lockner.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Gay) Cox and Mrs. Doug (Wanda) Clark, both of Hickory Tree; three sons, Jack Lockner, Ernest Lockner and Wayne Lockner, all of Hickory Tree; two sisters, Bertha Smith, Hickory Tree, and Marie Perrigan, Bristol, Tennessee; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ethel D. Marrs
PILGRIM KNOB -- Ethel Dye Marrs, 85, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
She was a native of Tazewell County, a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a homemaker and a member of Patterson Church of Christ.
She was the widow of Daniel Whitt Marrs.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Tabor, Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Gladys Williams, Abbs Valley, Va., Mrs. Mary Edith Vandyke, Pilgrim Knob, Va., and Mrs. Betty Joe Horn, Jolo, W.Va.; two sons, Daniel Whitt Marrs II, Abbs Valley, and John Elson Marrs, Horsepen, Va.; one half-sister, Della Marrs, Tazewell; two half-brothers, Lee Dye, Bishop, Va., and Charles Dye, Abbs Valley; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Walter V. Miller
MEADOWVIEW -- Walter V. Miller, 78, of 29265 Lee Highway, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in
Johnson Memorial Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., a farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Greenfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Mitchell Miller; two daughters, Barbara M. Popa, Boca Raton, Fla., and Mitchie M. Klint, Marion, Mont.; one son, Vernie H. Miller, Meadowview; three brothers, Roy Miller, Glade Spring, Charlie Miller and Preston Miller, both of Meadowview; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Amilee W. Owens
DAMASCUS -- Amilee Wren Owens, 73, of 33420 Widener Valley Road, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a native of Miami before moving to Bristol in 1968, and moving to Damascus in 1980.
She was a member of Suburban Christian Church, Bristol, Virginia.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Owens; one daughter, Patricia O. MacDermott, Damascus; one son, Richard L. Owens, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Charlotte Girard, Gainesville, Fla., Lillian Swicord, Macon, Ga., and Mildred Williams, Osteen, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Portia D. Vaughn
BIG STONE GAP -- Portia Diane Vaughn. 33, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.
She was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Vaughn, Big Stone Gap; one son, Jack L. Vaughn, Wise; three daughters, Sherry Vaughn, Alishia Vaughn and Portia M. Vaughn, all of Wise; and her maternal grandmother, Blanche Bates, Danville.

Virginia Allison
SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Virginia Allison, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a member of Light House Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Allison; two sons, Andy "Stick" Allison, Saltville, and Ralph "Bunk" Allison, Gonzales, La.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Tolbert, Saltville; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

ELIZABETHTON -- Ernest M. Banner, 83, of 113 Lynnwood Avenue, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Northside Hospital,
Johnson City.
He was a native of
Carter County and an active member of Valley Forge Christian Church, where he was an elder and former Sunday school teacher.
He was a retired employee of Beaunit Fibers with the textile department for 42 years.
He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge 238 F and AM.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mable Banner; one son, LaVerne Banner, Elizabethton; two daughters, June Dugger, Bluff City, and JoAnn Banner, Elizabethton; one brother, Earl Banner, Elizabethton; two sisters, Carrier Whitehead, Elizabethton, and Alma Arnette, Roan Mountain; two granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Chester L. Burke
Chester Lewis Burke, 45, of 19297 Haskell Station Road, Bristol, Va., formerly of Richlands, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in a Bristol, Tennessee hospice house.
He was a native of Richlands and had made his home in the Richlands area most of his life before moving to Bristol.
He was a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his former wife, Mrs. Robin Burke Overbay, Gate City; two sons, Adam Lee Burke, Kingsport, and David Allen Burke, Weber City; five sisters, Mrs. Thelma Jean Thomas and Mrs. Wanda Faye Gance, both of Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Nora Ellen Fields, Bristol, Virginia, Mrs. Connie Jean Carver, Cliffield, Va., and Mrs. Debra Carol Barr, Damascus; five brothers, Carlos Matthew Burke, Cedar Bluff, Hassell Robert Burke and Darrell McQue Burke, both of Bristol, Virginia, Larry Wayne Burke, Lebanon, and Michael "J.T." Burke, Wardell, Va.; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Allen T. Felty Sr.
Allen Thomas Felty Sr., 75, of 54 Tremont Place, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Bristol, Tennessee High School and attended King College and Duke University.
He sold cars for over 50 years, was the owner of the former Interstate Motors, and, most recently, was an employee of Empire Ford, Abingdon. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of United Methodist Men's Club and a former member of the Board of Stewards. He was a charter member of West Bristol Kiwanis Club and a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge, Bristol, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Helen G. Felty; one daughter, Trinka Felty, Bristol, Tennessee; three sons, Allen Thomas Felty Jr., John Tracy Felty and Joseph Giles Felty, all of Bristol; one brother, Gene Felty, Bluff City; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
