JONES
William Curtis Jones Sr., 68, of Richmond, passed away at his home after a battle with cancer on March 31, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Joan Knabe Jones; two children, William Curtis Jr. and Linda Rose; and two grandchildren, Tanner and Brigitt. Mr. Jones served as a professional firefighter with the City of Richmond Fire Dept. for 33 years, retiring in 1993 as a Captain. He was an instructor for the American Red Cross, an active life member of Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad and a Past Master of Fitzgerald Masonic Lodge No. 299, AF&AM. His remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richmond Firefighters Association, 2302 West Main St., Richmond, Va. 23220 or Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.

JOHNSON
Elizabeth Pollard Cox Johnson, 95, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Louisville, Ky. and King and Queen Co., Va., widow of Dr. R. Inman Johnson, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001. She is survived by a brother, Garland Pollard Cox; and three nieces, Bentley C. Grigg, Jeanne C. Cusick and Marguerite C. Ballard, all of Charlottesville, Va. Born in Richmond on August 29, 1905, her family moved to Louisville, Ky. when she was three years old. Her father, Millard F. Cox designed the steam engine for the L&N Railroad. Her mother, Bessie Pollard Cox, was for many years a trustee of the Women's Missionary Union Training School. Her uncle, John Garland Pollard, was Governor of Virginia. Her husband, Robert Inman Johnson, taught speech and music for 45 years at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Johnson received her education in the Louisville Public Schools, Sweet Briar College and the College of William and Mary. She served two terms as president of the Louisville Junior League, served many years on the board of the Kentucky Crippled Children's Society and served one term on the board of the National Crippled Children's Society. For ten years she was treasurer of Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville. Mrs. Johnson was for many years Kentucky Regent for Kenmore in Fredericksburg, Va., where she presented a small oil portrait of the original owner, Fielding Lewis. She served one term as president of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which owned two historic homes in Frankfurt, Ky. Her husband retired in 1965 and they moved to a five acre lot on the Mattaponi River at King and Queen Courthouse, Va., where she designed and supervised the building of a retirement home. She was for 18 years editor of the Bulletin of the King and Queen County Historical Society. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She was also a member of the Jamestown Society and served one term on its board of directors. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Hollywood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Sweet Briar College, Box E, Sweet Briar, Va. 24595. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

JOHNSON
George W. Johnson Jr., 88, of Charles City County, died Monday, April 2, 2001. He is survived by three sons, Robert O. Johnson Sr. and his wife, Joyce, Robert M. Landes and his wife, Nadine, and Gordon W. Landes and his wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Dorothy L. Hofmeyer and her husband, Norman; his sister, Christine Hill; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and where services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church and was a retired baker for Davis Bakery.

Pak Mui Li, 79, of Richmond, widow of Hing Ng, died April 2, 2001. She is survived by her beloved children: son, Wing Ng; six daughters, Koon Ming Ng-Ho, Ying Ming Ng-Tsang, Fung Ming Ng-Lau, Yuk Ming Ng-Ho, May Ming Ng-Lau (Mina), Sui Ming Ng-Chun; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

McCLOSKEY
Mr. Michael John McCloskey, age 42, of Alpharetta, Ga., died Sunday, April 1, 2001. Mr. McCloskey was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church and was very active in youth sports. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in computer science and received his MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is survived by his wife, Marianna McCloskey; sons, Joseph and Stephen McCloskey; father, Mr. Enoch McCloskey, Colonial Heights, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Ronald Miller, Topeka, Kan.; two nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Mansell Road Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. Dr. J. Harvey West and Chaplin Rick Neale officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, Ga. The family will receive friends this evening 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. McKINNEY
Mr. James A. McKinney Jr., 93, of Richmond, passed away on April 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann McKinney; five children, Karen M. Till and her husband, William, James A. McKinney III and his wife, Dale, Maureen M. Kane and her husband, James, Kevin J. McKinney, and Meghan M. Davis and her husband, Lin; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jim was a member of the Corps of Cadets at VPI, class of 1929, an Army captain serving during WWII, and a Sir Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was director of research and development with Eskimo Pie for over 25 years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a Rosary being said at 8 p.m. at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Mount Calvary.

MILLS
Thomas Lawrence Mills, 71, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Mills; two daughters, Linda Terrill and husband, Bruce, Patricia (Pam) Hood and fiance', Jeff Hall; two granddaughters, Ashley and Jenny Hood; a brother, Ernest Lee Hedgepeth of Auckland, New Zealand. Mr. Mills was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Reserve and also retired from Reynolds Metals. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001. Departed this life March 30, 2001, Mrs. Lillian Frances Stokes Moore of 2213 Idlewood Ave. She is survived by her mother, Agnes Watson; children, Norris (Monet), Keasha and Kenneth Moore; one grandson, B.T. Moore; two sisters, Karen Denise Booker (Wayne) and Sheila Diane Stokes; one aunt, Ellen Farris; three nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces; father-in-law, Sidney Moore; and other relatives and friends, among them a devoted friend, Jack McClain. Dorothy Turlington Norment, 79, of Richmond, widow of Joseph E. Norment Jr., died April 2, 2001. She is survived by her son, Joseph E. Norment III of Richmond. Mrs. Norment, a native of Goldsboro, N.C., was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught last at Mary Munford School. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 4, at 10 a.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Rd., Richmond, 23235, or Union-PSCE, 3401 Brook Rd., Richmond, 23227.

O'QUINN
Sylvester "Bill" O'Quinn, 85, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord April 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances O'Quinn; daughters, Patricia Ford and her husband, Chris of Chesterfield, and Carolyn O'Quinn of Boca Raton, Fla.; son, Billy O'Quinn and his wife, Jean of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Dorothy Carper of Richmond; brother, Graham O'Quinn of Richmond; six grandchildren, Hugh Geiger III, Kimberly Geiger, Kelly Boswell, Karen Adametz, Bryce Ford and Casey O'Quinn; and one great-grandson, Spencer Adametz. Mr. O'Quinn was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church, a WWII veteran, and a retired city of Richmond police detective. He was also a member of VFW Post 9808 and charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police, John Marshall Lodge No. 2. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Elizabeth L. Presgraves, age 84, died April 1, 2001, in Woodbridge Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Presgraves. She is survived by her son, Joe Presgraves of New Jersey; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Lake View Cemetery in Hamilton, Va. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

PROCTOR
Bruce "the lord" F. Proctor Sr., 70 of Sandston, went to his final resting place Saturday, March 31, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy M. Proctor; three loving daughters, Cindy Snow of Sandston, Sherry Smart and devoted son-in-law, Raymond of Aylett, and Kim Smart and devoted son-in-law, James of Midlothian; three loving sons, Frankie and his wife, Lynn Proctor of Midlothian, Mark Proctor of Richmond, and Bobby Proctor and devoted daughter-in-law, Amy of Mechanicsville; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Ralph of Hampton, and Harold of Richmond; also one sister, Phylis Cutright of Louisa. Mr. Proctor was an avid golfer, playing at the Highland Springs Golf Course. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday, and where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4. GMMC William Spencer Sage, USN, Retired, 85, of Glen Allen, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ford Sage; three daughters, Carol Moberly, Margaret Covert and Linda Greene; two sons-in-law, Calvin Covert and Michael Greene; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. GMMC Sage was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. His family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lakeside Vol. Rescue Squad, 2007 Timberlake Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227.

SHIELDS
Sara Emma Fox Shields, 82, departed this life on April 1, 2001 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the widow of James C. Shields. Mrs. Shields is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and H. Carleton King Jr.; her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Leslie Shields; and her grandchildren, Carter King and Mallory and James Shields. She is also survived by her brother, Jack H. Fox of Gadsden, Alabama. Mrs. Shields was born in Gadsden, Alabama, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Fox III and Bettie Priscilla Carter Fox. She will be remembered lovingly by her children for the love, support and encouragement she always provided for them. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home 11020 West Broad St., Glen Allen, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23068.
