MOUNTAIN CITY -- Mary Everett Grayson, of 228 West Hillcrest Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, in Watauga Medical Center, Boone, N.C.
She was a housewife, an alumna of Furman University and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Wednesday Music Club and the DAR.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas R. Grayson; a son, Thomas "Todd" Grayson, Mountain City; three daughters, Kimberly Grayson-Stout, Mountain City, Eve Grayson-Vaughn, Gastonia, N.C., and Sally Grayson Watson, Winston-Salem, N.C.: her mother, Mrs. Sally Everett, Mountain City; two brothers, Robert Everett, Newark, Del., and James Everett, Richardson, Texas; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

LEBANON -- Zola Mae Hess, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, in Salem Help and Rehabilitation Home.
She was the widow of Bennie Hess and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Sue) Bragg, Salem, Va.; five sons, Joe Hess, Indiana, Coy Hess, Lebanon, Conley Hess, Rosedale, Louis Hess, Lake City, Fla., and Bill Hess, Salem, Va.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Alice S. Hicks
Alice Stout Hicks, 76, of 203 Blueridge Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Butler, Tenn., and had lived in the Bristol area for 70 years.
She was a member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, was involved in all church activities and was a nursery worker for several years.
She was the widow of Columbus Hicks.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. J.D. (Doris) Vance, Bristol Tennessee, Mrs. Dan (Nancy) Collopy, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Darryl (Karen) Knowles, U.S. Air Force, Germany; a son, Jerry Hicks, Lakenheath, England; two sisters, Bonnie Vance and Hazel Vance; three brothers, Henry Stout, Elmer Stout and Bill Stout; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

GRUNDY -- Allen Ford Layne, 74, of the Poplar Creek section, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church and a disabled miner.
Survivors include his wife, Vernie Deel Layne; two daughters, Ruth Layne, Grundy, and Barbara O'quinn, Haysi; a son, John David Layne, Grundy; three sisters, Mary Kirkpatrick and Margie Bish, both of Grundy, and Ethel Wilson, La Follette, Tenn.;. two brothers, Burnis Layne and Willard Layne, both of Grundy; and three grandchildren.

ST. PAUL -- A.T. "Arthur" McCamey, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Wise County, a retired miner, a member of UMWA Local No. 7950, for 65 years, and a member of the Assembly of God Church, St. Paul, for 61 years, where he served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday School superintendent and bus driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Glovier McCamey.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. D.J. (Kathy) Osborne, Wise, Mrs. H.L. (Bea) Simmons, St. Paul, Mrs. Bobby (Sue) Hobbs, Cleveland, Va., and Ms. Carol Price, Manassas, Va.; two sons, Donald McCamey, Castlewood, and Omar Jack McCamey, Trenton, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

CASTLEWOOD -- Grover J. Meade, 80, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was a native of Russell County and was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Meade.
Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Sims and Mrs. Elmer (Sue) Hurd, both of Castlewood, and Mrs. Bill (Syble) Flythe, Church Hill, Tenn.; six sons, Henry Meade and Grover Meade Jr., both of Nickelsville, Oakley Meade and Tommy Meade, both of Castlewood, Bobby Meade, Kingsport, and Farley Meade, Church Hill; two brothers, Hoover Meade, Roanoke, and Clarence Meade, Castlewood; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

RICHLANDS -- Ralph D. Pruett, 61, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Tazewell County, a retired miner employed with Pittson Coal Company, Seaboard No. 1, and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of Richlands First Assembly of God Church and a member of the deacon board.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Reedy Pruett; a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Melissa) Horn, Richlands; three sons, Tim Pruett, Pounding Mill, John Pruett, Claypool Hill, and Mark Pruett, Richlands; his mother, Ocie Pruett Hankins, Cedar Bluff; three sisters, Mrs. Carlos (Joan) Hamm and Mrs. Homer (Azilee) Carter, both of Cedar Bluff, and Mrs. Marie Hurley, Baltimore; seven grandsons; and a granddaughter.

MARION -- Ina Mae Atwell Trimmer, 78, formerly of Richmond, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She retired from A.T. Massey Coal Company and was a member of the Branches Baptist Church, in Richmond.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis S. Trimmer; two sisters, Helen Burroughs, Savannah, Ga., and Sue Hoplins, Virginia Beach; six nieces; six nephews; 11 great-nieces; five great-nephews; five great-great-nieces; and five great-great-nephews.

He was a native of Narrows, Virginia, and was employed in the maintenance department of All American Realty, Bristol Virginia.
