Annie T. Brickey
BROADFORD, Va. -- Annie Thomas Brickey, 97, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at her home.
She was the widow of Walter Brickey and a member of the Roberts Chapel Methodist Church, Broadford.
Survivors include seven sons, Doc Brickey, Spokane, Wash., Wes Brickey, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; Edd Brickey, Abingdon, Bob Brickey, Glade Spring, Curt Brickey, Broadford, Randall "Sam" Brickey, Saltville, and Harry Brickey, Asheville, N.C.; three daughters, Penny Smith, Saltville, Sadie Anderson, Abingdon, and Patsy Sullivan, Buchtel, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mary Evelyn Roberts, Bowling Green, Va.; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, is in charge.

Faye B. Edmonds
Faye Broyhill Edmonds, 85, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was a native of Lenoir, N.C., had been a resident of Bristol for 59 years and was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College, in Hickory, N.C.
She was the widow of R.J. Edmonds.
She served as president of Edmonds Brothers Supply Company and had been active in the business until recently. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bristol Heart Association, had served as a member of the board of the YWCA and of the Health and Educational Facilities Board for Bristol, Tennessee. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two nieces, Jane C. Broyhill and Susan F. Broyhill, both of Lenoir, N.C.; two nephews, Clifton Randolph Broyhill and Gordon Broyhill, both of Lenoir, N.C.; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Gertrude S. Hammond
GLADE SPRING -- Gertrude S. Hammond, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong member of Plasterco United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Ingram, Cleveland, Tenn.; two sons, Jim Hammond, Knoxville, and Bobby Hammond, Glade Spring; a brother, Howard Sandefur, Glade Spring; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred Harcum
ABINGDON -- The Rev. Fred Harcum died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Southampton County, Va., and had lived in Abingdon since 1969.
He was educated at Hargrave military Academy, the University of Richmond and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After completing his education, the Rev. Harcum began his ministry in Clinchport and later ministered in Wise, Va. Later he served Morgans and Flint Hill Baptist Churches simultaneously, followed by eight years of ministry in Chilhowie. His full-time ministry concluded with nearly 28 years of service at Lebanon Baptist Church, Lebanon. He officially retired in 1969, and continued to fill in as a supply preacher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Rollins Harcum.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley H. McDaniel, Buckingham, Va., and Nancy H. Wetherington, Kilmarnock, Va.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Kristen F. Hicks
Johnson CITY -- Kristen Faith Hicks, infant daughter of Donny W. Hicks and Shana D. Hicks, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Johnson City Medical Center.
Survivors in addition to her parents include a sister, Megan B. Hicks of the home; her maternal grandparents, Gene and Jane Anderson, Bristol Tennessee; her paternal grandparents, Shirley and Paul Bowman, Monet, Ark,; her paternal grandfather, Ed Thompson, Hornerville, Mo.; her maternal great-grandmother, Betty Anderson, Richmond, Ind.; and several aunts and uncles.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Edith Z. Hurley
GRUNDY -- Edith Zetta Matney Hurley, 78, of the Slate Creek section of Buchanan County, Route 3, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
She was a native of Buchanan County and a homemaker. She had been a member of Grundy Church of Christ for 61 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lillard Hurley; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Loretta) Viers, Grundy; a foster son, Clell McClanahan, Hurley; three sisters, Ivirs Lewis, Grundy, Ruby Blair, Hurley, and Nell Privett, Elkton, Md.; three brothers, Burns Matney, Vernon Matney and Monroe Matney, all of Hurley; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, is in charge.

Faye H. Kilgore
FINLEY, N.D. -- Faye Hanson Kilgore, 59, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Hatton, attended school in Lisbon, N.D., and in 1949, moved to the Sharon, N.D., area where she continued her education. She made her home in the Finley area, moved to Texas, and returned to Finley in 1971.
She was employed with the Bowling Alley, Corner Cafe and the Finley Lumber Yard. She was an Avon Representative for many years.
Survivors include her husband Don; two sons, Larry Thompson, Fargo, N.D., and Bradley Thompson, Bremerton, Wash.; her mother, Frances, of Finley; two brothers, Thaine Hanson, Finley, and Steve Hanson, Fargo, N.D.; two sisters, Bev Devlin and Becky Amundson, both of Finley; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Finley, N.D., with interment in the Finley Cemetery.
Quam-Plaisted Funeral Homes, Finley, N.D., is in charge.

Thomas C. Lawson
KINGSPORT -- Thomas Carson Lawson, 48, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998.
He was a native of Coeburn.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Kay Lawson; a son, Brian Lawson, Kingsport; a daughter, Mrs. Danny (Angela) Taylor, Kingsport; his stepmother, Mary Lawson, Virginia; a brother, Rodney Lawson, Virginia; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge.

Marvin L. Smith
RICHLANDS -- Marvin Lincous "Link" Smith, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
He was a native of Shortt Gap, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the 217th General Hospital Seine Section, in the European Theatre.
He was a retired owner and operator of M.L. Smith Coal Company and owner and operator of Jamboree Hill, at Shortt Gap, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Myrle Vance Smith; a son, William "Pete" Smith, Richlands; two sisters, Ms. Virgie Smith, Richlands, and Mrs. Ollie Davis, Raven; and two grandchildren.
Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, is in charge.

Dana A. Starnes
GRAY, Tenn. -- Dana Allen Starnes, 18, of 102 Sun Street, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was a former student at Daniel Boone High School and participated in the ROTC. He attended Gravel Hill Baptist Church and Rock Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Allen and Charlotte Starnes; a brother, Jared Lee Starnes, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; his maternal grandparents, James C. and Ruth Hill Yates, Haysi; and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Imogene Conley Starnes, Piney Flats, Tenn.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge.

Ella M. Tolliver
MARION -- Ella Mae Tolliver, 92, of Troutdale, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, in Francis Marion Manor.
She was a member of the Troutdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Howard Tolliver, Annandale, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Barnett's Marion Funeral Home is in charge.
