MARION -- Mary Evelyn Groseclose died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
She was a member of Chilhowie United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Royal Oak Chapter DAR, Marion.
Survivors include a brother, Newton H. "N.H." Groseclose Jr., Memphis, Tenn.; and several cousins.

BLUFF CITY -- Debbie Hyatt, 20, of 403 Floyd Hollow Road, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, in Bristol, Tenn.
She was a native of Sullivan County and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her parents, Robert Hyatt Sr. and Linda Frazier Hyatt, Piney Flats; a brother, Robert Hyatt Jr., Piney Flats; two half-sisters, Crystal Hyatt, Piney Flats, and Carol Hyatt, Bristol Tennessee; her maternal grandfather, Ed Frazier, Piney Flats; and several aunts and uncles.

James W. Mullins
POUND -- James W. Mullins, 17, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at his home.
He was a former student at Pound High School, where he was a member of the football team.
He was employed with Payless Super Market, Wise.
Survivors include his parents, Jessee Lee Osborne and Aleta Ann
Green Osborne, Pound; three sisters, Jodie Ellison, Regenia Osborne and Carolyn Osborne, all of Pound; two brothers, Roger Lee Osborne, Norton, and Jessee Osborne, Pound; and his paternal grandmother, Geneva Miller, Coeburn.

Cleo L. Pyle
KINGSPORT -- Cleo L. Pyle, 87, of 1527 Waverly Road, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Anderson Healthcare.
She was a native of Mendota, Va., moved to Kingsport in the 1930s, and was a 1932 graduate of Bristol Business College.
She was employed with Sobel's for 21 years.
Mrs. Pyle was a member of First Baptist Church and the widow of Samuel David Pyle.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Pyle, Kingsport, Mrs. Kermit (Ann) Addington, Chattanooga, and Mrs. Mike (Cathy) Evans, Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Allene) Kasefang, Bristol Virginia; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey K. Rapp
RAYSAL, W.Va. -- Jeffrey Keith Rapp, 42, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in a Charleston, W.Va., hospital.
He was a native of Welch, W.Va., a lifelong resident of the Raysal area, and a graduate of Iaeger High School. He was a former coal miner and mechanic.
Survivors include his former wife, Connie Rife, Jolo, W.Va.; his parents, Millard B. and Nola F. Rapp, Jolo, W.Va.; a brother, Dr. Steve Rapp, Abingdon; and a nephew.

Ruth Reed
Ruth Reed, 67, of 2437 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Russell County and had spent her childhood in Dante and Hamblin, Va., before moving to Bristol 50 years ago.
She was a member of Westhighlands Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Adult Choir and a former member of the Westhighlands Singers.
She was retired from Gordon Garment Company.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie Reed; two daughters, Kathy Miller, Blountville, and Nancy Gilley, Kingsport; two sons, Dennis Reed and Curtis Reed, both of Bristol; four sisters, Margaret Walters, Erwin, Louise Wright, St. Paul, Peggy Meade, Coeburn, and Janet Vanover, Grundy; two brothers, Donald King, Bristol, and Tommy King, Bluff City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul S. Salyers
ABINGDON -- Paul S. Salyers, 72, of 14622 Wallace Pike, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a native of Dickenson County and had lived in Abingdon for the past 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal Company. He was a member of UMWA, a member of York Masonic Lodge No. 12 AF&AM and a member of the Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Salyers; two daughters, Anita Baker, Clintwood, and Libby Fields, Bristol Virginia; a son, Robert Paul Salyers, Bristol Virginia; a brother, Fred Salyers, Nora, Va.; a foster brother, Gene Bevel, Elizabethtown, Pa.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Naomi L. Steffey
Naomi Lumsden Steffey, 91, of Grand Court, Bristol, Virginia, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998.
She was a native of Redwood, Va., had been a resident of the Bristol area for over 50 years and was a graduate of Radford University. She was a retired school teacher with the Bristol Tennessee School System.
Mrs. Steffey was active in local and state politics and was a member of the Womens Republican Committee. She was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution and a member of the State Street Untied Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Louis L. Steffey.
Survivors include a daughter, Kitty Lou Smith, Springfield, Va.; a grandson, Theodore L. Smith, Front Royal, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecil A. Tomlinson
Johnson CITY -- Cecil A. Tomlinson, 100, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in NHC Nursing Home, in
Johnson City.
He had made his home with his niece, Margaret Jones, in
Johnson City since 1990. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna B. Tomlinson.
Survivors include several stepchildren; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnnie B. Wilson
Johnnie B. Wilson, 81, a former resident of 1301 Anderson St., Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area, a retired cattle trader and farmer.
He was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Patrick Wilson.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Wilson, Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Windom Wilson, Bristol Tennessee; four nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joseph L. Austin
ABINGDON -- Joseph Leroy "Joe" Austin, 57, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Bristol Virginia, had lived in Meadowview until 1970 when he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., and then moved to Abingdon, in 1983. He was a member of the Valley Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include five brothers, John C. "J.C." Austin, Brooklyn, the Rev. William " Willie" Austin, Abingdon, Erkward Logan, Meadowview, James Logan, Indiana, and Clarence Wilson, Bristol Virginia; four sisters, Naomi Coston, Brooklyn, Lucinda Bowers, Montcellio, N.Y., Gladys Wilson, Washington D.C., and Helen Wilson, Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
