Norment P. Belew
Norment P. "Norm" Belew, 81, of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native and grew up in Johnson City, had lived most of his life in Bristol, and was CEO of Bristol Supply and Equipment Company for 52 years. He was a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army and served as a pilot in World War II.
He was a member of State Street United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth B. Belew.
Survivors include his wife, Judith J. Belew; two daughters, Mrs. Harky (Kathryn B.) Johnston, Largo, Fla., and Mrs. Gary (Martha B.) Burdge, Bristol Tennessee; a son, Robert W. Belew, Bluff City; a stepson, Jason W. West, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Henry C. Belew, Clayton, Ga., and John F. Belew, California; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Roy C. Bice
SALTVILLE -- Roy Claude "Stick" Bice, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion.
He was a retired employee of Virginia House Furniture and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McVey Bice.
Survivors include two brothers, William G. "Bill" Bice, Marion, and Thomas Bice, Aberdine, Md.; two sisters, Dorothy Hayden, Saltville, and Katherine Snow, Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles R. Brownell
Charles R. Brownell, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired automotive sales executive.
Survivors include a brother, Blaine Brownell, Birmingham.
Services will be conducted in Alabama.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Eula M. Burnett
NAPOLEON, Ohio -- Eula Mae Burnett, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Napoleon Lutheran Home.
She was a native of Buchanan County, retired from Campbell Soup Company, of Napoleon, in 1987, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Ernest Deel and Roy Deel, both of Haysi; and several nieces and nephews.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge.

Jack C. Burnett
TAZEWELL -- Jack C. Burnett, 77, of Route 1, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at his home.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge.

Shirley A. Couch
CASTLEWOOD -- Shirley Ann Couch, 49, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.
She was a native of Castlewood and a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Couch; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Sandy) Helbert, Castlewood; a son, Anthony Couch, Castlewood; three sisters, Cathy Wolfe and Brenda Kiser, both of Dante, and Debbie Burke, St. Paul; five brothers, Roger Evans, Bristol Tennessee, Eddie Evans, Salem, Va., Larry Evans and Michael Evans, both of Castlewood, and Sammy Wood, Dante; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge.

Billy D. Davis
HURLEY -- Billy Douglas Davis, 49, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Grundy Church of God and a disabled coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Matney Davis; a daughter, Ashley Davis, Hurley; two sons, Marty Douglas Davis and Mark Anthony Davis, both of Hurley; six sisters, Sharon Justus, Leona Baker, Ruby Ann Hurley, Darlene Justus and Peggy Hurley, all of Hurley, and Wilma Hagerman, of Tennessee; a brother, Bobby Lee Davis, Hurley; and five grandchildren.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge.

Bertha T. Deel
CLINCHCO -- Bertha Turner Deel, 92, of Route 1, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas W. Fritz
BLUFF CITY -- Thomas William Fritz, 78, of 1489 Ryder Church Road, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bluff City area, a retired employee of Cortrim Lumber and was employed with Bristol Door for 35 years.
He was a member of Beidleman Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher in the adult class. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Craft Fritz; four sons, William Thomas Fritz, Elizabethton, Robert L. Fritz and John H. Fritz, both of Bluff City, and Earnest S. Fritz, Bristol Tennessee; three daughters, Katherine L. Wingo, Bristol Tennessee, Judy A. Smithson and Charmie L. Lingerfelt, both of Bluff City; two brothers, Roy K. Fritz and John L. Fritz, both of Bluff City; three sisters, Blanche Sluder and Mabel Williams, both of Bluff City, and Helen Owens, Missouri; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Vera E. Hite
KINGSPORT -- Vera E. Hite, 79, of the Rock Springs community, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Indian Path Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of the Rock Springs community and was a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Senior Citizens Theater Guild.
She was the widow of Haskell P. "Hack" Hite.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Overbey, Kingsport; three sons, Ron Hite, Lakeland, Fla., Stanley Hite, Kingsport, and the Rev. Paul Hite, Rosedale, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Claude (Kate) Chase, Margaret Barger and Jo Hood, all of Kingsport; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge.

Lyle F. Kennedy
GRUNDY -- Lyle Ford Kennedy, 75, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
He was a native of Avondale, W.Va., had been a resident of Buchanan County for several years and was a member of Grundy Church of Christ.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic, Pacific and American areas and received the World War II Victory Medal. He was a retired coal operator.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pauline Raines Tylenda Kennedy; two daughters, Leisa Carr, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Billie Sue Canter, Knoxville; a stepson, Ben Tylenda Jr., Harrisburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles S. Lyon
BLOUNTVILLE -- Charles S. Lyon, 64, of 5040 Dublin Road, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Wellmont Holston Valley medical Center.
East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge.

Donna S. Neal
RUTLEDGE, Tenn. -- Donna Sue Neal, 25, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, in Jefferson County, Tenn.
She was a native of Grainger County, Tenn., and a member of the Mary's Chapel United Methodist Church, in Bean Station, Tenn.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel and Franklin Neal, both of Rutledge; her mother, Sheila Neal, Rutledge; a sister, Tira Neal, Johnson City; and her grandparents, Charles and Alma Neal, Rutledge.
Holding Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, is in charge.
