John R. Wilson

DETROIT -- John Robert Wilson, 68, formerly of Tazewell County died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at his home.
He was a native of Tazewell County, was retired from Chrysler Corporation and was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wilson.
Survivors include a sister, Katherine Osborne Collins, Doran, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff, is in charge.

Mary V. Wohlford

ABINGDON -- Mary Virginia Wohlford, 67, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of West Virginia and had lived most of her life in Washington County.
She was a member of Meadowview United Methodist Church and retired from Central Fidelity Bank, in 1989.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Wohlford; two sons, Gerry Wohlford, Meadowview, and Rick Wohlford, Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Brenda Houck, Todd, N.C., and Pamela May, Meadowview; two brothers, Jimmy Snodgrass, Arlington, Texas, John Snodgrass, Bluff City; two sisters, Lois Mattison, Linden, Mich., and Frances Craig, Cuyahoga, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Fred C. Collins

Fred Cleil Collins, 73, of Bristol Virginia, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of the Washington County, Va., area and a retired steel worker with Bristol Steel and Iron Works, with 42 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Wava Collins; a daughter, Carla Smith, Bristol Virginia; three sisters, Ackie Barker, Irene McCracken and Marie Fleenor, all of Bristol; two brothers, Grady Collins, Bristol, and Bruce Collins. Maryland; and four grandchildren.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert E. Freeman Sr.

MARION -- Robert Edward Freeman Sr., 67, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, in Powhatan, Va.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice F. Schiarelli and Nora F. Coley, both of Powhatan; three sons, Roger L. Freeman, Louise, Va., Robert E. Freeman Jr., and Ricky D. Freeman, both of Powhatan; a brother, Gene F. Freeman, Henrico, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

Samuel G. Hayden

Samuel Gibson Hayden, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany, and a retired employee of Marion Composites, with over 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Cale Hayden; a daughter, Marcia Hayden, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two sons, Michael Wayne Hayden and Mark Wade Hayden, both of Marion; four sisters, Lou Lynch, Winchester, Va., Virginia Kidwell, Cumberland, Md., Ann Hearn, Marion, and Eula Patton, Rural Retreat; a brother, David Hayden, Marion; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Harry D. Hyatt

BLUFF CITY -- Harry Davis Hyatt, of 281 Rambling Lane, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

David Kinder

BANDY, Va. -- David Kinder, 58, died Friday, Nov. 17, 1998, in a Charlottesville hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Tazewell County, attended Richlands High School, was a disabled coal miner and chief electrician for Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation No. 12 Mine. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 7327 and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rusty (Deborah Kinder) Ratliff, Tazewell; a son, Charles David Kinder of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Frank (Frances) Deskins, Mrs. Lois Horne and Mrs. Irene Coffman, all of Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Dorothy Meadows, Tazewell, Mrs. Treca Keen, Jewell Ridge, and Mrs. Nell Sparks, Michigan; a brother, Benny Kinder, Bandy; his fiancee, Mrs. Wanda Lester, Bandy; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge.

William R. Kiser

WISE -- William Russell Kiser, 77, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, in Norton Community Hospital.
He was an attorney and the Commissioner of Accounts for Wise County, serving over 50 years. He was a member of Wise County Bar Association, Virginia State Bar Association, Wise Kiwanis Club and Wise Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Keta S. Kiser; two daughters, Mr. David (Jennifer L.) Khaliel, Louisville, Ky., and Billie K. Picklesimer, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, June Pyrah, Salem, Va., and Mary Jean DePriest, Athens, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

Clint Mabe Jr.

STONEGA, Va. -- Clint Mabe Jr., 80, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, in Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, a member of Stonega Calvary Baptist Church and was an employee of Westmoreland Coal Company, formerly Stonega Coal and Coke, for 32 years. He was a member of UMWA District 28, Local No. 1355, an avid bowler and a member of the American Bowling Congress.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie Smith Mabe; two sons, James Randall Mabe, St. Paul, and Donald E. Mabe, Stonega; a daughter, Dana L. Allen, Greenville, Ohio; three brothers, J.C. Mabe, Martin D. Smith and Arthur Smith; three sisters, Julienne Shaw, Betty Jean Moore and Eyvonne Durham; and three grandchildren.
Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, is in charge.

Ivalee McElyea

Ivalee McElyea, 92, of Fort Shelby Manor, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, in Fort Shelby Manor.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Floyd D. Miller

SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Floyd Daniel Miller, 97, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at his home.
He was a native and had resided in Swords Creek most of his life and was a retired coal miner with Meadows Coal Company and Bostic Coal Company.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Miller; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Sylvia) Lane, Bucyrus, Ohio; two sisters, Gladys Meyers, Michigan, and Hazel Shaffer, Princeton, W.Va.; two brothers, Ralph Strouth, Pocahontas, Va., and Euel Strouth, Michigan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.
