Carl B. Sutherland
LEBANON -- Carl "Banner" Sutherland, 75, of Lebanon Manor, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center.
He was a native of Dickenson County, had lived in Lebanon for the past 28 years and was a graduate of Ervinton High School. He was a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal Company with 39 years of service.
He was president of the Russell County Ambulance Service and a life member of the Lebanon Lifesaving Crew. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with the 258th military Police.
He was a member of the Clintwood Masonic Lodge No. 66 AF&AM and a member of the Spring City Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Elizabeth Queen Sutherland.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linda Rea Owens Sutherland; two daughters, Vickie Sutherland Fields, Castlewood, and Tammy Sutherland Nunley, Abingdon; four sons, Carl Banner "Sonny" Sutherland Jr., Dante, James "Jay" Sutherland, St. Paul, Jason Allen Sutherland and Michael Lee Akers, both of Lebanon.

CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- Mrs. Lola Keen Allen, 76, formerly of Baltimore, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Buchanan County, and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was the widow of Herman Edward Allen Sr.
Survivors include four sons, Roger Lee Allen, Norcross, Ga., Donald Ray Allen, Richmond, William Rufus Allen, Brunswick, Ohio, and Larry Dale Allen, Chesterfield, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Carol) Sweeney, Paynesville, W.Va.; a brother, Conley Keen, Glen Burnie, Md.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Rexie Jackson, Roanoke, Mrs. Judy Fuller and Mrs. Creedie Hackworth, both of Richlands; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandson.

Virgie V. Hickman Berry, 88, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, in Cambridge House.

MOUNTAIN CITY -- Dwaine Boyd, 39, of 919 Medical Park Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, in
Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Norton, had made his home in
Johnson County for the past several years and was a former employee for Food Country Distribution Center, in Abingdon, and a miner.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, in Abingdon.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Nineen Boyd, Greenville, Tenn.; two sons, Allen Boyd and Jason Boyd, both of Greenville; his father and stepmother, Wiley and Nancy Boyd, Mountain City; two brothers, Oliver Wiley Boyd, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Marty G. Boyd, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Adams and Lavern Lane, both of Mountain City; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob Joe Bullock
BLUFF CITY -- Bob Joe Bullock, 69, of 757 Old Elizabethton Highway, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a retired building contractor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a recipient of the National Defense Ribbon and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Bullock; two daughters, Sharon Snyder, Bristol Tennessee, and Sherry Leonard, Bluff City; a son, Bobby Bullock, Bluff City; three sisters, Joyce Hardin, Elizabethton, Evelyn Fox and Peggy Scalf, both of Bluff City; two brothers, Charles Bullock, Bristol Virginia, and Clyde Bullock, Bluff City; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

RICHLANDS -- Mrs. Flora Augusta Ferrell French, 92, of 1806 Fifth St., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Buchanan County, had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life and was a member of New Hope Assembly, Claypool Hill, Va. She was the widow of Charles McNeal French.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Evelyn Belcher, Richlands, Mrs. Sylvia McGlothlin, Cedar Bluff, and Mrs. Charlotte Robinette, Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hylton, Tazewell, Mrs. Mary Honaker, Dwight, Va., and Mrs. Maze Boardwine, Pulaski, Va.; a brother, Sam Ferrell, Pulaski; ten grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

RICHLANDS -- Mrs. Lula Kate Ketron, 83, of 2303 S. Farmer St., Richlands, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in a Grundy hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Tazewell County, Va., and a member of Calvary Temple Church.
She was the widow of Omer Ketron.
Survivors include a son, Harold Ketron, Doran, Va.; three grandchildren, Linda Meade, Anita Harrison and John Ketron; and four great-grandchildren.

NORTON -- Dewey L. Mullins Sr., 62, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998.
He was a member of the Freedom of Worship Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fields Mullins; a son, Dewey L. Mullins Jr., Norton; a daughter, Brittany Roberts, Norton; a brother, Robert Mullins, Kokomo, Ind.; four sisters, Irene Craiger, Duffield, Pauline McElroy, Big Stone Gap, Thelma Day and Helen Day, both of Norton; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lois Campbell Mullins, 80, of Lee Garden Apartments, Bristol, Va., died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at her home.
She was a retired employee of Sears and a member of Rosemont Presbyterian Church.
She was the widow of her first husband, William R. Campbell, and her second husband, Arlie C. Mullins.
Survivors include a daughter, Vivian Campbell Tester, Bristol Tennessee; a son, Ralph Lee Campbell, Bristol Tennessee; four sisters; a brother; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

SALTVILLE -- Mrs. Corena Francis Price, 81, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
She was a member of the Saltville Baptist Church and the widow of James B. Price.

Johnson City; two daughters, Peggy Rolen, Ripplemead, Va., and Carol Butler,

Glay W. Singleton, 69, of Bristol Tennessee, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and retired from Mohawk Milling Company, Newport, Tenn. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Singleton; a daughter, Pat Francisco, Marion; a sister, Violet Campbell, Bluff City; a brother, David Singleton, Bristol Tennessee; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
