Mrs. Betty Lindeman Hull, 74, of 273 Midway Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Chattanooga, had lived in Bristol since 1950, and was a member of Anderson Street United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Leroy Hull Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Brenda Hull, Young Harris, Ga.; two sons, Mark L. Hull, Knoxville, and Leroy Hull III, Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Alice Harr, Rome, Ga., and Dorothy Lindeman, Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother, Albert Lindeman, Texas; and three grandchildren.

BLOUNTVILLE -- Marie Pendergrass, 61, of 209 Oak St., died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, a former employee of ASC Office, with 18 years of service, and a member of Beidleman Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Henry Pendergrass; a daughter, Toni Lowe Swavely, Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Cathy Lowe, Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Ben Weaver, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

James J. Rider
COEBURN -- James J. Rider, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center,
Johnson City.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Norton VFW Post No. 4301, Wise DAV Chapter No. 56, and Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 8652.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Rider; two daughters, Catherine G. Rider and Patricia K. Bryant, both of Coeburn; two sisters, Christine Harrison, Woodbridge, Va., and Anna Lee James, Augusta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Harvey L. Riggs
BIG STONE GAP -- Harvey L. Riggs, 84, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital, Norton.
He was a native of Scott County, had lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap, and was a retired coal miner with U.S. Steel in Lynch, Ky., serving over 30 years. He was a member of the UMWA District No. 28, and a member and past treasurer of the Appalachia Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madgie Rose Riggs.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Garcia, Miami Beach, Fla., and Inez Johnson, Big Stone Gap; two sons, Harvey J. Riggs, Panama Beach, Fla., an Kenneth L. Riggs, East Stone Gap; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy L. Trinkle
Dorothy Loretta Trinkle, 68, of 1306 McKinley Ave., Bristol, Va., died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and attended Shakesville Tabernacle.

Williams and Mary Ruth Price, both of
Johnson City, Lois Pickle and Thelma Black, both of Bristol Virginia; two brothers, Johnny Rosenbaum and Clarence "Tommy" Rosenbaum, both of
Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecil Waugaman Sr.
ROANOKE -- Cecil Witt Waugaman, Sr., 90, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 1998.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth
Smith Waugaman, a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church and a member of Virginia Heights Lodge No. 324 AF&AM.
He retired from Norfolk and Western Railway after 48 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile L. Waugaman; a son, C.W. Waugaman; two stepsons, John D. Booth and Jack L. Booth; a granddaughter; a grandson; a step-granddaughter; and a step-great-granddaughter.

Mary N. Williams
DRYDEN, Va. -- Mary Nell Williams, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Lee County Community Hospital.
She was a native of Lee County, was educated at Dryden High School and James Madison University, and was a retired teacher with the Lee County Public School System, teaching home economics and, later, kindergarten.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lee County Garden Club, Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society, Historical Society of Southwest Virginia and AARP.
She was a member of the Dryden United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Woodrow W. Williams; a son, Warren Williams, Jonesville, Va.; two brothers, Bill Jessee and Harold Jessee, both of Dryden; and two grandsons.

Lewis R. Wilson
WILLOW SPRINGS, N.C. -- Lewis Rex Wilson, 70, of 1598 Mount Pleasant Road, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.
He grew up in Meadowview and had spent the last 40 years in the Raleigh and Clayton areas. He was a longtime member of Leonard Moore Post 71, in Clayton.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Repass Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Betty M. Wilson; a son, Tony Wilson, Garner; a daughter, Diann Howard, Selma; a brother, Jerry Wilson, Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Kate Cook, Nashville, Tenn., and Doris Musick, Midlothian, Va.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Rachel M. Baker
Rachel Matney Baker, 99, of 149 Keith Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Buchanan County and attended Grundy High. She secured a teaching certificate from Radford Normal Institute, and taught in Buchanan County schools and Mountain Mission School.
She worked as a postal clerk in Haysi and was active in the community and Presbyterian Church.
She moved to Bristol in 1964 and was an active member of the Meadowview Church and the organizations for handicap people.
She was the widow of Ireland Baker.
Survivors include a son, Elmer Ross Baker, of the home; a grandson; two granddaughters; three sisters, Daisy Matney and Josephine Matney, both of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Adren (Marjorie) Stiltner, Salem, Va.; three brothers, E.H. Matney, Bristol, John Matney, Springlake Heights, N.J., and Warren Matney, Grundy; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

RICHLANDS -- Lenward C. "Hook" Ball, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
He was a native of Tazewell County and was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA Local No. 1640.
He was a member of Richlands Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Helen Webb Ball; five daughters, Mrs. Samuel (Shirley) Smith, Glen Allen, Va., Mrs. Hobert (Phyllis) Stilwell, N. Tazewell, Va., Mrs. Roger (Sue) Newberry and Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Bales, both of Richlands, Mrs. Marvin (Connie) Houchins, Pendleton, S.C.; three sons, Ronnie Ball, Graham, N.C., Donnie Ball, Greensboro, N.C., and Dean Ball, Cedar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
