Bob Jo Bullock

BLUFF CITY -- Bob Joe Bullock, 69, of 757 Old Elizabethton Highway, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a retired building contractor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a recipient of the National Defense Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Bullock; two daughters, Sharon Snyder, Bristol Tennessee, and Sherry Leonard, Bluff City; a son, Bobby Bullock, Bluff City; three sisters, Joyce Hardin, Elizabethton, Evelyn Fox and Peggy Scalf, both of Bluff City; two brothers, Charles Bullock, Bristol Virginia, and Clyde Bullock, Bluff City; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Dolly A. Combs

HONAKER -- Miss Dolly Ann Combs, 58, of the Big A Mountain section, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in a Lebanon hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Honaker.
Survivors include her parents, Pat and Mabel McGlothlin Combs, Honaker; three sisters, Mrs. James E. (Linda) Honaker and Diana Combs, both of Lebanon, and Mrs. Leroy (Sandra) Massie, Rosedale; two brothers, Bob Combs, Abingdon, and John Combs, Honaker; and several nieces and nephews.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mildred L. Frazier

GATE CITY -- Mildred Lou McConnell Frazier, 55, of Route 2, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Sullivan County and had resided in Scott County, where she was a housewife.
She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence "Bob" Frazier, Gate City; two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Sharon) McCarty and Lisa Gamble, both of Gate City; a son, Eddie Frazier, Gate City; her mother, Orpha Casteel McConnell, Gate City; and a granddaughter.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, is in charge.

Lula K. Ketron

RICHLANDS -- Mrs. Lula Kate Ketron, 83, of 1303 S. Farmer St., Richlands, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in a Grundy hospital.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home is in charge.

Evelyn Lawson

BLOUNTVILLE -- Nora Evelyn Lawson, 71, of 303 Lawson Drive, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in Greystone Health Care.
She was a homemaker, attended West Highlands Church and was the widow of Kenneth M. Lawson.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Eula) Roark, Bristol Virginia; a sister, Ruth Wright, Bristol Virginia; a granddaughter, Jennifer Penley, Blountville; a grandson, Chris Roark, Bristol Virginia; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Arnold L. McCourry

BLOUNTVILLE -- Arnold L. "Buddy" McCourry, 70, of 307 Massengill Road, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., and had made his home in Blountville for the past 41 years. He was the retired owner and operator of Arnold McCourry Jewelers in Mountain City, and a member of Bible Way Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McCourry; a daughter, Linda Cross, Blountville; his mother, Marie McCourry, Melbourne, Fla.; three sisters, Rose Price, Pikeville, Ky., Louise Harr, Bristol, and Botts Butler, Melbourne, Fla.; three brothers, Harrison McCourry, Bakersville, N.C., Harold McCourry, Johnson City, and Douglas McCourry, Burnsville, N.C.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Lois C. Mullins

Mrs. Lois Campbell Mullins, 80, of Lee Garden Apartments, Bristol Virginia, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at her home.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Richard L. Owens

Johnson CITY -- Richard Lee Owens, 77, of 4118 Ranch Road, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain City.
He was a native of Abingdon, had lived most of his life in Johnson City, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a printer employed with Standard Forms for many years and, most recently, was employed with Sabre Printing.
Mr. Owens was a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sharrett Owens; a daughter, Marsha Torbett, Johnson City; a son, Gary Owens, Johnson City; a sister, Garnet Dixson, Bristol Tennessee; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Morris-Baker Funeral Home, Johnson City, is in charge.

William W. Pauley

DAMASCUS -- William W. "Bill" Pauley, 60, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a native of Kingsport and had lived in Damascus most of his life. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Pauley; two daughters, Cathy Asher, Bristol Tennessee, and Tammy Lifford, Bristol Virginia; a son, Gary Pauley, Damascus; five sisters, Lillie Bell Clark, Carolyn Ann Lane, Charlie Faye Hutchins, Gracie Irene Davenport, all of Kingsport, and Wanda Sue Nichols, Massillon, Ohio; three brothers, Ernest Ray Pauley, Gary Vance Pauley, and Feddie Allen Pauley, all of Kingsport; ten grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Douglas P. Powell

MARION -- Douglas P. Powell, 77, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Strouth Powell; two daughters, Ethel G. Taylor, Detroit, and Patricia P. Reid, Chilhowie; three sisters, Mae P. Tarter, Chicago, Rose P. Gillespie, Marion, and Phyllis P. Lowman, Bel Air, Md.; six brothers, James Powell, Cincinnati, Randy Powell, Tucson, Ariz., Fred Powell, Richmond, Roy Powell, Abilene, Texas, Jack Powell, Texas, and Robert Powell, Marion; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Nancy C. Rose

CLINTWOOD -- Nancy Carol Rose, 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1998, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a member of Honey Camp Freewill Baptist Church and a retired employee of Dickenson County School System, where she was employed as a cook in Clintwood High School cafeteria.
She was the widow of Gerald Rose.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Edwards, Clintwood; a son, Eddie Rose, Clintwood; a brother, James Henry Brown, Lanexa, Va.; four sisters, Lois Mullins and Geraldine Lambert, both of Clintwood, Mary Margaret and Deborah Kay; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Clintwood Funeral Home is in charge.
