Delmar R. Humphreys
LYNCHBURG -- Delmar Ray Humphreys, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in the Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg.
He had lived all of his life in Washington County, Va., prior to moving to Lynchburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of Norfolk-Southern Railway and a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Bailey Humphreys; two sons, Ranny Dell Humphreys, Christiansburg, Va., and Michael Wayne Humphreys, Lynchburg; four brothers, Ernest E. Humphreys, Paul E. Humphreys, Leonard C. Humphreys and George H. Humphreys Jr. all of Abingdon; four sisters, Mrs. Lavinia Cullip and Mrs. C.W. (Phyllis) Price, both of Abingdon, Mrs. Wayne (Bert) Parsons and Mrs. Roger (Jean) Yuhasz, both of Meadowview; and four grandchildren.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Georgia S. Kennedy
COEBURN -- Georgia Salyers Kennedy, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, in the Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
She was the widow of her first husband, Fred Salyers, and her second husband, Joseph Kennedy.
She was a member of the Banner Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Casey, West Virginia, and Joann Lundy, Kingsport; a brother, Hassie Meade, Coeburn; a sister, Ocie Mullins, Hampton, Va.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Sturgill Funeral Home, Coeburn, is in charge.

Elmer Lester
RICHLANDS -- Elmer Lester, 57, formerly of Big Rock, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in Tazewell Community Hospital.
He was a native of Buchanan County, a disabled coal miner and attended the Pentecostal church.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Stiltner Lester; a sister, Phyllis Yukon, Ohio; four half-sisters, Mrs. Berlin (Hazel) Blackburn, Big Rock, Mrs. Scott (Bonnie) Compton and Wanda Matney, both of Damascus, and Judy Lester; and three half-brothers, Jackson Lester, Johnny Lester and Jimmy Lester, all of Big Rock.
Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, is in charge.

Hazel A. Street
ROWE, Va. -- Mrs. Hazel Arwood Street, 70, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in a Richlands hospital.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Doyle W. Blair
Doyle W. Blair, 83, of 601 Mary St., Bristol, Va., died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Butler, Tenn., and had lived in Newland, N.C., before moving to Bristol, where he had made his home for the past 45 years.
He was a retired employee with the Salvation Army, a former employee of Universal and a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Blair; two sons, Steve Blair, Abingdon, and Roger Blair, Bristol Tennessee; two stepdaughters, Janice Peters, Bristol Tennessee, and Vivian Moore, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; a stepson, Bobby Blair, Las Cruces, New Mexico; a sister, Viola Fine, Johnson City; a brother, Vaught Blair, Jonesborough; two grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Henry D. Dawbarn
TEQUESTA, Fla. -- Henry Dunlop "Buz" Dawbarn, 83, formerly of Waynesboro, Va., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in Jupiter Medical Center.
He was the CEO of Dawbarn Brothers and Camac and served as a senator in Virginia from 1968 to 1974.
He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tequesta.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Cameron Dawbarn; a son, H. Dulop Dawbarn Jr., Statesville, N.C.; a daughter, Alice Carroll Dawbarn, Richmond; a brother, Robert D. Barlett, Tequesta; and two grandchildren.
Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, Jupiter was in charge of local arrangements.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday in Waynesboro.
Memorial donations may be made to either Summit Square, 501 Oak Ave., Waynesboro, VA, 22980, or the SAW Community Foundation, 1100 West Broad, Waynesobro, VA 22980.

Billy R. Fields
LEBANON -- Billy R. Fields, 68, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Russell County, the retired manager of Lebanon Concrete, with 35 years of service, and a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie B. Fields; a son, the Rev. Larry E. Fields, Lebanon; three grandsons, Vincent Fields, Lexington, Ky., Wesley Fields and Brandon Fields, both of Lebanon; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Russell County Funeral Home, Lebanon, is in charge.

Carl D. Gullion
MARION -- Carl David Gullion, 68, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Diane Gross Gullion; a sister, Geneva Gullion, Marion; and a brother, Marvin Gullion, Marion.

Salena J. Lambert
DANTE -- Salena Jane Lambert, 99, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, in the Lick Creek Community, and the widow of Letcher Lambert.
Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, is in charge.

Ennis W. Miller
Ennis W. Miller, 84, of Bristol Virginia, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Bristol Virginia, retired from Mary Grey Hosiery Mill and was a member of Shakesville Church of Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Whitlow, Bristol Virginia; a brother, Daniel M. Whitlow, Abingdon; six nieces; several great-nieces; and several great-nephews.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Clancy Newsome
HAYSI -- Clancy Newsome, 63, died Sunday, Jan, 3, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital.
He was a native of Betsy Lane, Ky., a disabled miner and a member of UMWA 7170. He had been a member of Russell Prater Regular Baptist Church for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Deel Newsome; four sons, Roy Newsome, Tazewell, Jerry Newsome and Freddie Newsome, both of Haysi, and Eddie Newsome, Birchleaf; three daughters, Patty Deel, Birchleaf, Katie Deel, Tazewell, and Tammy O'Quinn, Clintwood; his father, Harvey Newsome, Shelby, Ky.; five brothers, Dave Newsome, Virgie, Ky., Harvey Jr. Newsome, Cardington, Ohio, Russell Newsome, Portsmouth, Ohio, Johnnie Newsome, Keystone Heights, Fla., and Frank Newsome, Haysi; four sisters, Ruth Blankenship, Birchleaf, Ruby Ousley, Virgie, Ky., Daphne Akers, Robinson Creek, Ky., and Lorene Hamilton, Palatka, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Cretie R. Ratliff
GRUNDY -- Cretie Ratliff Looney Ratliff, 96, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Harman Freewill Baptist Church for 47 years and was a homemaker.
She was the widow of her first husband, Floyd Looney, and her second husband, Thomas Ratliff.
Survivors include five daughters, Edna Stiltner, Ida Burks and Pearl Colley, all of Grundy, Ival Woodruff, Indianapolis, and Grethel Ryan, Tazewell; six sons, Kennith Looney, North Carolina, Lee Looney, Lonnie Looney and William Looney, all of Grundy, Melvin Looney, Vansant, and Stuard Looney, Harman, Va.; 50 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge.
