KIRKS
Miriam (Peggy) W. Kirks, 89, of Richmond, passed away on September 25, 2002. She was the widow of David Winifree and James Kirks. Peggy was the last of the eight children of Robert and Grace Wright. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Raymond Chenault of Fredericksburg and several nieces and nephews. Peggy graduated from the Retreat for the Sick School of Nursing in 1935 and retired from there in 1975. As a longtime resident of Lakeside, she was an active member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, serving in the Sunday School, Senior's Group and its shut-in ministry. She was a charter member of the Bryan Park Womens Club and a past member of the Brook Run Garden Club. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church or the Alzheimers Association.

Bessie M. Lockhart, 80, of Richmond, died September 21, 2002. Preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Survived by her daughter, Ms. Linda Lockhart of Richmond, Va. MARTIN
Mattie Ferguson Martin, 102, of Richmond, died on Thursday, September 26, 2002. She was the widow of Curtis E. Martin and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Jacqueline Martin; three grandchildren and their spouses, Judy and Ray Green of South Boston, John and Suzanne Martin and Leslie and Robert Shakespeare, all of Richmond; six great-grandchildren, Hillary and Andrew Green, Mathew, Travis, Benjamin Martin and Adam Lyons; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Tori and Austin Shakespeare; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church or your favorite charity.

McGEE
Herbert Y. McGee of Richmond died Thursday, September 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Mary W. McGee; two daughters, Audrey McGee and Lenell Smith; stepson, Marshall Davenport; stepdaughter, Aleta Mahon; special friend, Renee O'Neal; one brother, Buck McGee; two sisters, Madge Herst and Frances Seamans; a host of other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday (today) 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. MILLER
Melvin A. Miller, 85, of Richmond, widower of Mildred J. Miller and retired from Singer Sewing Machine Company, went to be with the Lord September 25, 2002. He is survived by his son, Melvin D. Miller and his wife, Nan; daughter, Sandra M. Taylor and her husband, Michael; sister, Clair Fortis; also seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Miller was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII in the Korean Conflict. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where services will be held Saturday, 11:30 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Gloria K. Morris, 65, of Richmond entered eternal rest September 20, 2002. Cherishing her memory, her husband, Moses Morris; two sons, Melvin and William Kenney; one daughter, Belinda Morris; two daughters-in-law, Jean Kenney and Leta Kenney; four grandchildren, Melvin Kenney Jr., Marcus Kenney, William Kenney Jr. and Alexis Russell; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillie K. Jones; two brothers, Aubrey Kenney of Maryland and Melvin Kenney of New York; one brother-in-law, Robert M. Jones; one sister-in-law, Rosemarie Kenney of Maryland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them devoted are, Monet Russell and Mr. and Mrs. David Bolling. PATTERSON
Henry S. "Pat" Patterson, 71, of Richmond, Virginia, passed from this life to the next on September 25, 2002. Pat was a prominent custom home builder in the West End of Richmond for 25 years. He was a past member of the board of directors of The Home Builders Association of Richmond. He graduated from Augusta military Academy and was an alumni of Hampton-Sydney College. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard. Pat is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Virginia N. Patterson; his son, Staton Patterson; his daughter, Paige Person and her husband, Dennis; and his 2 precious grandchildren, Cody and Caitlin, all of Raleigh, N.C. He also leaves his stepfather, Stuart Butler; and sister, Joan Gleason. Pat lived in Richmond his whole life and recently maintained homes in both Richmond and Raleigh to be near his children and grandchildren. He was very much a family man and enjoyed living next door to his grandchildren. Pat loved his summer home in Ophelia, Virginia on the Potomac River. He could often be seen sitting on his deck over the water with the surf rolling in and the breeze blowing. He called these his "10 plus 3-star days". He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church on River Road, where there will be a graveside service held on Monday, September 30 at 11 a.m. The Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd.

RICHARDSON
Diana Sue Richardson, 57, of Ashland, died September 25, 2002. She is survived by her husband, E. Lester Richardson; son, John Thomas Richardson; sisters, Nancy Towler, Jane Osborne, Peggy Farson and Beth Smitzer; brothers, Charles, Gene and Kent Herndon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elendor Herndon. Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Taylor, of Richmond, passed away September 24, 2002. She is survived by her son, Ulysses V. Selph III (Jr.); her grandson, Joshua Ryan Holloway; granddaughter, Tiffany Yvonne Martin; a devoted sister-in-law, Helen L. Harlow; and many devoted friends. Evelyn Haynes True, 71, of Richmond, died September 23, 2002. She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Linda A. and Gary W. Wesley Dee Waycaster, 79, of Dillwyn, Va., passed away September 26, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Speas Waycaster. He is survived by his children, Michael Dee Waycaster and wife, Gloria of Dillwyn, Kathryn Lee Waycaster of Powhatan and Dennis Wayne Waycaster of Dillwyn; a brother, Charles E. Waycaster of Dillwyn; a sister, Wanda O. Wood of Powhatan; four grandchildren, Randy, Stacy, Jenny and Wesley Daniel Waycaster, all of Dillwyn. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dunkun Funeral Home, Dillwyn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham Rescue Squad.
