TANNERSVILLE, Va. -- Mrs. Jennifer Elaine Necessary, 35, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
She was a native of Tazewell County, a 1982 graduate of Rich Valley High School and a graduate of Virginia Highlands Community College with a degree in computer science.
She was employed with Southwestern State Hospital, Marion, and was formerly employed with Sam Russell & Associates, Marion.
Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Necessary, Tannersville, Va.; two brothers, Gus Necessary, Salem, Va., and Todd Necessary, Emory, Va.; two sisters, Joni Lamie, Tannersville, and Lana Harrison, Bristol Tennessee; a niece; and three nephews.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, is in charge.

Charles Newton

Charles Newton, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at his home.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Stella G. Price

INDEPENDENCE, Va. -- Stella Greer Price, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Pocahontas, Va., the widow of Ray Price, and a member of Helton Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Freida Dolinger Paisley, Bristol Virginia; two sons, Olen R. Price, Whitetop, Va., and Tommy M. Price, Comers Rock, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Bayse (Katie) Reedy, Hollywood, Md.; two brothers, Ezra Olen Greer, Damascus, and Russ Greer, Lenoir, N.C.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., is in charge.

Alta Pruner

HONAKER -- Mrs. Alta Pruner, 82, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Honaker.
She was a native of Buchanan County, had resided most of her life in Russell County and was a member of the Mount Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Honaker.
She was the widow of Jake Henry Pruner.
Survivors include three daughters, Chloe Vance, Rosedale, Betty Arwood, Honaker, and Darlene Dye, Swords Creek; two sons, Donald Ward, Marshall, Va., and Billy Gene Pruner, Lebanon; 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Benjamin H. Simpson

ABINGDON -- Mr. Benjamin Harris Simpson, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
There are no known survivors.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Willard Vicars

NICKELSVILLE -- Joseph Willard Vicars, 82, of Route 1, died Friday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
Hew as a native of Scott County, a veteran of World War II, and a farmer.
Mr. Vicars is a member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge No. 173 AF&AM of Nickelsville.
He was a Christian, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Mae Baldwin Vicars, and his second wife, Mary Ellen Benton Moore Vicars.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Kay Vicars) Harness, Blacksburg, Va.; a son, Larry Vicars, Nickelsville; three stepchildren; a brother, Seibert Vicars, Nickelsville; a grandson; and nine step-grandchildren.
Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, is in charge.

Mary L. Barone
BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- Mary Lue Milton Barone, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Bryn Mawr Terrace, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
She was a native of Castlewood, had lived and attended school in Castlewood until the age of 13, later moving to Milton, Pa., where she lived with her sister.
She was a graduate of Milton Area Joint Senior High and a graduate of Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing, where she was elected president of her class. She was one of the first-year nurses elected to the Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Mario F. Barone; two daughters, Jocelyn Benson Barone, Washington, D.C., and Lillian Beth Wentz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Lillian Moyer, Castlewood; two brothers, Frank Milton, Castlewood, and Jack Milton, Abingdon; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge.

Myrtle R. Childress
VANSANT -- Myrtle Ratliff Childress, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Little Prater Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Earl E. Childress; a daughter, Mrs. Jonathan (Debbie J.) Woods, Vansant; a son, Tony Childress, Abingdon; three sisters, Betty Brown and Anna Jean Griffith, both of Rosedale, Va., and Thelma Crisp, Ohio; three brothers, Wyatt Ratliff and Carlos Ratliff, both of Mt. Heron, Va., and Kester Ratliff, Abingdon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge.

Bertie C. Cregger
ROANOKE -- Mrs. Bertie Cassell Cregger, 96, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in the Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Roanoke.
She was a lifelong resident of the Lick Creek Community and the widow of William F. Cregger.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lynwood (Mabel) Toms, Roanoke; two sons, Alfred Cregger, Roanoke, and Billy Cregger, Ceres, Va.; two sisters, Janie McGuire, Bluefield, W.Va., and Irene Cassell, Ceres; a brother, Harry Cassell, Ceres; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Barnett's Marion Funeral Home is in charge.

Gilliam Damron
GRUNDY -- Gilliam Damron, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
He was a native of Pike County, Ky., was of the Pentecostal faith and a retired coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia Lee Compton Damron; seven daughters, Mrs. Larry (Pauline) Humphreys and Mrs. Dennis (Minnie) Carver, both of Redford, Mich., Mrs. Trussell (Louise) Newsome, Oakwood, Va., Mrs. Tom (June) Adkins, Harman, Va., Mrs. Foster (Violet) Slone, Virgie, Ky., Mrs. Ricky (Hilda) Horn, Richlands, and Mrs. Bill (Rose) Marx, Algeria, Mich.; a brother, Thurman Damron, Caney Creek, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, is in charge.

Bessie M. Delaney
Bessie M. Scarff Delaney, 95, of Bristol Tennessee, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in The Cambridge House.
She was a native of Fallston, Md., had lived several years in the Bristol area and was the widow of William Cowan Delaney Jr.
She was a member of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Friends School and the Peabody Institute of Music, in Baltimore. She was an accomplished violinist and taught violin and piano for several years in Bristol. One of her memorable students was the late entertainer, Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Willard Fultz
Willard Fultz, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was a native and grew up in Dorchester, Va., and was an employee of Wise Primary School for 28 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dobbs Fultz; three daughters, Sandra Kinser and Kathy Kern, both of Norton, and Teresa Rowland, Big Stone Gap; two sons, Gary Fultz, Bristol Tennessee, and Rodney Fultz, McCalla, Ala.; two sisters, Della Hall, Norton, and Dorothy Smith, Lorraine, Ohio; three brothers, Elmer J. Fultz, Big Stone Gap, Robert Fultz and Freddie Fultz, both of Norton; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
