Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Clifton Spence of Brodnax; her son and daughter-in-law, Rodman and Jane Lee Wright of Blackstone; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Service 11 a.m. Saturday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. Interment Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Ventrice Lee Adams
Mr. Ventrice Lee Adams, 65 of Alberta, died Friday , January 16, 2004. He was a retired employee for Reynolds Aluminum of Richmond. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife Betty Reed Adams, two daughters; Angela Powell of Rawlings and Bridgette Aleman of Alberta, two sons; Danny L. Adams and Don W. Adams both of Alberta, five sisters; Tammy Daniel of Freeman, Brenda Cooper of San Antonio, TX, Lila Bailey of Victoria, TX, Martha Gupton of Alberta and Barbara Brewster of South Hill, four brothers; Ted Adams of Richmond, Rev. Timothy Adams of Matoaca , Wayne Adams of Amelia and John Adams of Forksville, eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment in the Adams Family Cemetery near Alberta.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Loveline Overton "Love" Harris
June 3, 1918 - January 14, 2004
Mrs. Loveline Overton “Love” Harris, age 85 of South Hill, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 in Community Memorial Healthcenter. She was the widow of Clarence D. Harris and is survived by a daughter and her husband Cynthia and Roger Higgins of Bracey; her son and his wife C. D. and Edith May Harris, Jr. of Henderson, NC; her grandduaghter and her husband Jannon and Chad Coley of South Hill; two great granddaughters Mackenzie and Macie Coley; two sisters Dorothy Abernathy of McKenney and June Adkins of Petersburg. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P. M. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with interment in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church, 1212 Chalk Level Road, South Hill, VA 23970.

Mr. Edward M. Dipple
March 2, 1937 - January 13, 2004
Mr. Edward M. Dipple, age 66 of Champion Forest subdivision, Bracey, VA, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired Maintenance Manager for the Lipton Tea Co. in New Jersey and was an Army veteran. He was the widower of Linda Dipple and is survived by two brothers Ronald Dipple of Seattle, Washington and Eugene Dipple of Milford, New Jersey. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. A funeral service and interment will take place Tuesday in Palmer, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Virginia Cleaton Barksdale
September 28, 1908 - January 9, 2004
Mrs. Virginia Cleaton “Jennie” Barksdale, age 95 of Palm Harbor, Florida and formerly of South Hill, died Friday, January 9, 2004 in Florida. She was the widow of George W. Barksdale and is survived by her son William Barksdale of Palm Harbor, three grandchildren Heather and Cory Barksdale both of Palm Harbor and Christopher Barksdale of Jacksonville, Florida. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Monday, January 19 at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 until 8:30 P. M. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Alfred Monroe "Butch" Wright
October 10, 1949 - June 24, 2003
Mr. Alfred Monroe “Butch” Wright, 53, of White Plains, died June 24, 2003 in Halifax-Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was a former teacher at Brunswick Senior High School. He is survived by his wife Kathryn B. Wright, a daughter Joanna Wright and a son Brian Wright all of the home, his parents Earl and Myrta Wright of Brodnax, his sister Paula Wright of Hyattsville, MD, three brothers; Leonard Earl Wright of Pauline SC, Michael R. Wright of Mechanicsville and H. Scott Wright of Greensboro, NC. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment in Canaan Cemetery, Brodnax. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and at all other times at the home of his parents, 1184 Evans Creek Road, Brodnax. The family request memorial contributions to the charity of your choice in “Butch’s” name.

R. Graig Armstrong, age 15, returned home to be with his God and his maternal grandmother, Billie K. Slaughter, on Wednesday, May 9, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Donna S. and Robert G. Armstrong; his paternal grandparents, Joyce J. and Minor D. Armstrong; his maternal grandfather, Stanley Ray Slaughter; aunts and uncles, Becky S. and Russell S. Dixon, Stanley R. Slaughter Jr. and Suzi V. Slaughter, M. Davidson Armstrong, Thomas H. and Charles Armstrong; and his cousins, Christopher, Kathleen, Carrie, Matthew and Kelly; and his Lutheran Church Camp family and friends at Camp Linn Haven, Linville, N.C. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 4700 Oakleys Ln. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. BALDWIN
Franklin D. Baldwin, age 66, of Richmond, died Thursday, May 10, 2001. He is in the arms of his mother, and the Lord. He was a loving and devoted father and leaves behind three daughters, Delores B. Louzonis, Theresa M. O'Neal and Diane Garthright, all of Richmond; two sisters, Louise Collins of Maryland, Loraine Rewey of Montana; a nephew and best friend, Kenneth L. Baldwin of Richmond; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Zeph, Cierra, Kayla and Cullen. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Shorter Funeral Home in Farmville. Graveside services will be held Monday at 12 noon in Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cumberland County, Va.

CHAFFMAN
Willie B. Chaffman, 81, of Glen Allen, died Thursday, May 10, 2001. He is survived by one son, Phillip G. Chaffman; two daughters, Judith C. Mundy and Karen Ann Steger; seven granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, four great-grandsons; and a devoted friend, Beatrice Fisher. Mr. Chaffman was an Army veteran of WWII, a life member of VFW Post No. 6364 and Electrical Union Local No. 666. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive freinds 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14. Interment Forest Lawn Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Mrs. Maggie J. Evans of 3023 Forest Hill Ave. departed this life May 11, 2001. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

HYDE
John Witherspoon Hyde, 75, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at his residence. He was a native of Richmond, Va. Survived by two sons, Christopher G. Hyde and Brian G. Hyde; a daughter, Elizabeth Hyde Branson; a brother, Frank Taylor Hyde. He was predeceased by his brother, Tristram T. Hyde III. He volunteered and served as a Sargeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during combat operations in the Pacific Theater during World War II. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Cary Street Rd., Richmond.

JONES
Ms. Frances N. Jones of Charles City, departed this life Friday, May 11, 2001 in Hopewell. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell.

MARTIN
Leonard W. Martin, 85, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, May 10, 2001. He is survived by two brothers, G. Temple Martin and Charles E. Martin; three sisters, Edna M. Beasley, L. Pearl Martin, and Emma M. Heath; seven nieces and nephews, and 17 great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road, where services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. Interment Gethsemane Church of Christ Cemetery. MULVIN
Margie Aline Hutto Mulvin, 76, of Sandston, devoted wife and mother, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 10, 2001, just before celebrating her 46th Mother's Day. She was preceded in death by her parents, George L. Sr. and Lula K. Hutto. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, George B. Mulvin; three sons, Ronald G. Mulvin, Thomas C. Mulvin and wife, Terri, Timothy M. Mulvin and wife, Robin; two granddaughters, Eva and Rachel Mulvin; three grandsons, Brian, Jacob and Andrew Mulvin; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, Harold Hutto and wife, Sandy of California, Glen Hutto and wife, Vonsile of Rock Hill S.C. Mrs. Mulvin graduated Rock Hill, S.C. High School and the York County S.C. Nurse Cadet training program as an R.N. She also served for two years as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S.A.F. during the Korean conflict. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and where services will be held 10 a.m. Monday. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church.
