Margaret "Jolly" Rogers Branch, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999.
She received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan and was the widow of Irving L. "Twig" Branch.
She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Irving Branch, Omaha, Neb., and Richard Dulaney Branch, San Diego; a brother, retired U.S. Air Force Reserve Lt. Col. John Kelly Rogers, Bristol; and four grandchildren.

Juanita "Nete" Wright Brewer, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in Bristol Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband, Blane D. Brewer, Bristol Tennessee; a son, Gary A. Brewer, Nashville; her mother, Mrs. Olivene Wright, Bristol Virginia; a brother, James Wright, Ocala, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

HONAKER -- Mr. Jackie Clark, 56, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in Lebanon.
He was a native of Honaker, a lifelong resident of the Honaker area and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Gay Childress, Honaker, Judy Keen, Raven, and Ethel Presley, Richmond; three brothers, Lester Clark and Darrell Hurd, both of Honaker, and Jimmy Whitt, Dayton, Ohio.

William C. Coffey
William C. Coffey, 69, of Bristol, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home.
He was a native of Bristol Tennessee, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Hood Memorial AME Zion Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Frances C. Worthington, Bristol Tennessee, and Mrs. Margaret C. West, Atlanta; two brothers, Ralph Coffey, Bristol Virginia, and Paul Coffey, Bristol Tennessee; and several nephews and nieces.

R.L. Hoffman
MARION -- R.L. "Bob" Hoffman, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a native of Grant, Va., retired in 1991 as a project engineer with the Virginia Department of Transportation with more than 35 years of service. After retirement, he became a fulltime cattle farmer in Grayson County.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 30 years, where he served as an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Barton Hoffman; two sons, Lance Hoffman and Donald Hoffman, both of Marion; his mother, Alta
Smith Hoffman, Grant; a brother, Charles R. Hoffman, Raleigh, N.C.; a granddaughter; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

Oliver Z. Huff
SALTVILLE -- Mr. Oliver Zane Huff, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a retired U.S. Army sergeant, 5th Special Forces
Green Beret and a paratrooper, serving two tours in the Vietname War, and the Korean War. He was the recipient of three Purple Hearts and the Distinguished Pistol Shot Award. He was a member of the Saltville VFW "Hardy Roberts" Post No. 7328.
He was a retired supervisor with the Amtrak Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Hogston Huff; seven sons, Dennis Huff, Ohio, Alan Huff, Covington, Va., Bill Huff, Indianapolis, Jack Huff, Greenville, S.C., David Huff and Tony Huff, both of Fairland, Ind., and Jeff Huff, Saltville; two daughters, Marie Williams, Texas, and Cindy Huff Stewart, Saltville; two brothers, Ed Huff, Texas, and Denver Huff, California; two sisters, Verna Huff and Opal Nickels, both of Texas; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

George Wesley Ison Sr., 67, of Bristol Cavern Highway, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Scott County, a retired tile and carpet mechanic, and attended Kingdom Life Ministries in Bristol Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Hillman Ison.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Turner, Bristol Tennessee, and Mrs. Kathy Parish, Tampa, Fla.; two sons, George W. Ison Jr.,
Johnson City, and Frank Edward Ison, Bristol Tennessee; two brothers, Carl Ison and Roy Ison, both of Gate City; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy D. Mays
DANTE -- Jimmy D. Mays, 55, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Russell County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietname War, a member of the VFW and a member of UMWA Local No. 7170. He was a member of Dante Fire Department, where he served as secretary and treasurer, a board member of People's Inc., and attended Bearwallow Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol L. Mays; three daughters, Christine L. McCoy, Nora, Angelica Dawn Amos, Abingdon, and Ashley Hope Mays, Dante; a son, Jimmy Darrell Mays Jr., Glade Spring; three sisters, Margie Snelson, Tulsa, Okla., Betty Pendley and Lois Miller, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Frank Mays, St. Paul, and Jack Mays, Martinsburg; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Billy J. McFadden
WISE -- Billy James McFadden, 65, of Polebridge Road, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Virginia and lived most of his life in Haysi, before moving to Wise 12 years ago. He was an employee of Buchanan-
Williams Hardware, Haysi, for 37 years, a U.S. Army veteran and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He attended Pilgrim Home Church, Haysi, and Mountain View Church, Wise.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edie Deel McFadden.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola Hubbard McFadden; two sons, Kenneth McFadden, Haysi, and Kermit McFadden, Shelby, N.C.; a stepson, Michael Lane, Nashville; eight stepdaughters, Vivian Ramsey, June McCowan and Rita Klaiber, all of Coeburn, Lillian Shell, Iva Mutter, Mary Campbell and Linda Greear, all of Wise, and Donna Dickey, Piney Flats, Tenn.; a sister, Gaynell Owens, Wise; two brothers, William Jennings McFadden and Clinton McFadden, both of Wise; a grandson; two granddaughters; 22 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mattie V. Reel
Mattie Virginia Reel, 98, of Bristol Tennessee, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Belle Springs, Va., and had lived in Bristol for over 70 years. She was the widow of John B. Reel. She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church, the Philathea Sunday school class, and the XYZ Club. She was also a member of the Fairmount Garden Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, an ardent member of the PTA and various other charitable organizations and endeavors.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nathan (Betty) Hall, Bristol Tennessee; two granddaughters, Mrs. James (Lynn) Collins, Bristol Tennessee, and Mrs. Edward (Kimbrely) Hirsch, Topeka, Kan.; a grandson, Nathan C. "Chip" Hall Jr., Bristol Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren.
