WISE -- Willis H. Messer, died Monday, March, 1, 1999, in Hospice House in Bristol.

Geneva O. Miller

COEBURN -- Louie Geneva Osborne Miller, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
She was a native of Wise County and was a member of Birchfield Old Regular Baptist Church.
She was the widow of James Albert Osborne and Elmer Miller.
Survivors include three daughters, Beulah Greear, Ellen Hall and Edith McCoy, all of Coeburn; four sons, Jessie Osborne of Pound, Va., Adam Osborne of Coeburn, Marvin Osborne of Gloucester, Va.; and Martin Osborne of Spring, Texas; three sisters, Nannie Belcher of Pound, Leona Medford of Wise and Bernice Dutch of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Hurley Collins of Pound, and Pat Collins of Ohio; 41 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Estes Funeral Home of Coeburn is in charge.

CASTLEWOOD -- Mamie Ann Nolan, 58, died Monday, March 12, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.

Marcus Robinette

ABINGDON -- Marcus W. Robinette, 72, of the Brumley Gap Community, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, in Abingdon.
He was a native of Russell County and had lived most of his life in Washington County.
He was employed with the Abingdon Roofing Company and with Virginia Heights and Body Works.
He was of the Holiness faith.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, in which he received several medals of valor. He was a member of the Washington County Moose Lodge, the American Legion, and the VFW Post in Damascus.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Robinette; a daughter, Nancy Ann Hearl of Abingdon; two sons, Marcus Wayne Robinette of Abingdon, and Stanley Allen Robinette of Anaheim, Calif.; three sisters, Delcie Lou Robinette and Jean Warren, both of Abingdon, and Ellen Cole of Bristol Virginia; three brothers, David E. Robinette, Travelers Rest, S.C., Glen Edgar Robinette, of Normandy, Tenn., and Robert Lee Robinette, of Abingdon; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Campbell Funeral Home of Abingdon, is in charge.

Busky D. Scott Jr.

Busky Dwayne Scott Jr., infant son of Ronda Levon McKinney and Busky Dwayne Scott Sr., died Saturday, Feb. 27 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Other survivors include the maternal grandparents, Ronald and Patricia McKinney of Bristol Tennessee; paternal grandmother, Elsie L. Scott of Bristol Tennessee; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert L. Trivett

BLADENBORO, N.C. -- Robert Lee Trivett, 77, of 1082 Horseshoe Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999 at his home.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of New Faith Worship Center.
Funeral services were held in Bladenboro.
Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home of Bladenboro, was in charge.

Norman W. Calloway

GRAY -- Norman W. Calloway, 85, of 2406 Oak St., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Wexford House in Kingsport.
He was a native of Old Fork, N.C., moved to Sullivan County at an early age and had lived in the Gray area since 1949.
He was employed with Tennessee Eastman and Holston Defense Corporation for 42 years.
Mr. Calloway was a former president of Gray Ruritan, a member of the Board of Directors of Appalachian Fair, and a member of Greenvale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and taught the adult Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie Nunley Calloway.
Survivors include his wife, Adell Tilson Calloway; five daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Joann) Houser of Bristol Tennessee, Mrs. Phillip (Jane) Bowery of Kingsport, Mrs. Don (Norma) Albany, Mrs. Tony (Linda) Glass and Mrs. Gerald (Ina) Gray, all of Gray; a son, Tommy Calloway of Gray; two stepsons, Jerry L. Tilson of Powell, Tenn., and Gregory Tilson of Harvest, Ala.; a sister, Pauline Reedy of Kingsport; two brothers, Nathan and Joel Calloway, both of Kingsport; six granddaughters; five grandsons; a step-grandson; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Gray Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert L. Canter, 71, of Bristol Virginia, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge.

Noreen Carrier

Johnson CITY -- Noreen Carrier, 86, of 2012 Sherwood Drive, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
She was a native of Chinquapin Grove in Sullivan County, and a member of the Bluff City Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and the widow of R. Harold Carrier.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Mettler of Johnson City; a granddaughter, Angela Mettler of Johnson City; a niece; and three nephews.
Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, is in charge.

Louella A. Davis

Johnson CITY -- Louella Angeline Davis, 82, of 118 Fairhaven Drive, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Sullivan County, had lived in Pontiac, Mich., for 30 years before returning to Sullivan County in 1970, and had lived in Washington County since 1996.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her first husband, James M. Guinn, and her second husband, Thomas Davis.
Survivors include a sister, Hallie Ford of Johnson City; a brother, Charles Ford of Johnson City; a stepson, Robert "Bobby" Davis of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
Morris-Baker Funeral Home of Johnson City is in charge.

William B. McInturff

CASTLEWOOD -- William Bert McInturff, 86, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was a native of Unicoi, Tenn., had lived in Castlewood for the past 60 years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired miner from Clinchfield Coal Company after 42 years of service.
Mr. McInturff was a member of Clinchfield Masonic Lodge No. 256 AF&AM for more than 50 years, and a 30-year member of the Castlewood Lions Club where he served as past president and building superintendent.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Paul and was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice McInturff.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Graham (Frances) Hughes and Mrs. Robert (Faye) Davis, both of Bristol Virginia, Mrs. Roger (Kay) Glovier of Lebanon, and Mrs. Sammy (Linda) Slate of Cleveland, Va.; a son, Kenneth McInturff of Castlewood; a sister, Axie Minga of Johnson City; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Randall M. Mumpower

Randall M. Mumpower, 74, of 3788 Weaver Pike, Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Tennessee and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II.
He was employed as a quality control engineer for SCI in Huntsville, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha R. Mumpower; two sons, Randy D. Mumpower of Huntsville, and Greg A. Mumpower of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Terry Cagle of Bristol Tennessee; four brothers, Junior B. Mumpower of Grassy Creek, N.C., Oscar V. Mumpower of Whiteford, Md., Hartsel L. Mumpower of Aberdeen, Md., and Kendall Mumpower of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Ms. Virginia Mumpower of Bel Air, Md.; and five grandchildren.
Robinson Mortuary of Bristol is in charge.

Frances E. Newberry

DORAN, Va. -- Frances Elizabeth Newberry, 74, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in a Richlands hospital.
She was a native of Russell County and a member of the Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was the widow of Frazier Newberry.
Survivors include a son, Steve Shortt of Doran; a sister, Mrs. Rose Cordle of Newport, Del.; a grandson, Tony Allen Shortt of Doran; a granddaughter, Miranda Ann Shortt of Doran; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff is in charge.
