TAYLOR
Gladys Virginia Taylor, 95, of Romney, W.Va., died February 2, 2001, at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. She was born July 8, 1905, in Romney to the late Harley E. and Maggie (Roderick) Potter. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Taylor. Survivors include one daughter, Joanne T. Branch, Bon Air, Va.; two grandchildren, Jo Ellen Enders, Camp Hill, Pa., William Frank Kluck, Raleigh, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Enders of Camp Hill, Pa., Candra Kluck, Virginia Beach, Va. The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be Monday, February 5, at 11 a.m. at the Romney First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Calvin McCutcheon and Rev. Douglas N. Shepherd. Interment Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, W.Va. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund, Romney First United Methodist Church, N. High St. Romney, W.Va. 26757.

THOMAS
Died February 1, 2001, Gladys Conley Thomas, 82, widow of John Nathan Conley. She is survived by her daughter, Margret Lozella Conley Edwards; her son, James Nathan Conley; her brother, J.D. Simpson; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park.

TODD
George Washington Todd, age 99, died January 31, 2001. Immediate survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, George W. Todd Jr. and Carol S. Todd; grandsons, Charles G. and Clifford J. Todd; sisters, Garnett T. Tompkins and Katherine T. Harris; and brother, Albert J. Todd. Mr. Todd was the son of the late Walter Curry and Katie Peaco Todd. His wife of 58 years, Alice Trevvett Todd, died in 1996. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1920, serving as captain of C Company in the Corps of Cadets, and attended several colleges, including Virginia Tech, William and Mary, and the University of California, Berkeley. In World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Uvalde. He was employed by several companies, including Motor Boat Sales, Pinnell's, and Ward Motor Corp. He had been a member of numerous clubs and organizations including the Richmond Light Infantry Blues, the Virginia Boat Club, and the Virginia Power Boat Association, of which he was first commodore and held life membership, and Ginter Park Baptist Church. The family will receive at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., on Friday, February 2, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, February 3, at 2:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at Ginter Park Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Ginter Park Baptist Church.

VICKHOUSE
Eugene Stanley Vickhouse, born in Portsmouth on March 25, 1913, and a resident of Virginia Beach, passed away January 31, 2001, in a local hospital. Mr. Vickhouse served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Japan and was awarded the Bronze Star for action in the CEBO Invasion, retiring after 30 years of service with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was also the retired owner of VU Photos Inc., Commercial Photographers of Norfolk, Va. He served in various capacities in the Masonic Order and was a past master of Norfolk Lodge No. 1 AF&AM. He was predeceased by his mother, Lena Wilder Vickhouse. He is survived by his wife, Ruth D. Vickhouse of Virginia Beach; his son, Stanley Maynard Vickhouse and wife, Betty, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Michael S. Vickhouse of Ashland, Va., Dianne Sidenstricker of Japan, Robert S. Vickhouse of Midlothian, Va., and Amye E. Vickhouse of California; two step-grandchildren, Amy Hardy of Richmond and Angela Stinnett of Hanover; step-daughter, Andrea Paradelas and husband Andrea' of Virginia Beach; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be at noon Saturday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, followed by interment in Rosewood Memorial Park.

WALKER
Ray Francis Walker, 83, left to be with the Lord on February 1, 2001. Ray is survived by her only child, William M. Walker III and his wife, Gwen of San Diego, Calif.; her sister, Lucille Francis Whitehead of Richmond; her niece, Ray Francis Whitehead Kuhn of Marin County, Calif.; her nephews, Howard Squire Whitehead, David William Whitehead and John Ogden Whitehead, all of Richmond; and seven great-nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and veterans. Ray was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on August 30, 1917 to Frances "Ray" Ogden and Howard Francis. She inspired all with her faith, courage and grace throughout her life. Ray was truly loved by all. Ray was an active member of the Richmond Christian Fellowship, whose generosity and support over the years were of inestimable value to Ray and her family. Memorial services will be conducted at the Richmond Christian Fellowship at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, located at 4424 Huguenot Road, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richmond Christian Fellowship or to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Virginia Chapter, 11620 Busy St., Midlothian, Va. 23236.

WEIRUP
Margaret Whitmore Weirup, age 76, went to be with our Lord on February 1, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband, Conrad Weirup; daughter and her spouse, Nan and Kenneth Stewart; son and his spouse, Bob and Renee' Weirup; two sisters, Ann Collins and Catherine Wray; three brothers, Berle Whitmore, Mickey Whitmore and Horace Whitmore; and four granddaughters, Lauren Stewart, Shelby Stewart, Rachel Weirup and Danielle Weirup. She lived a full and happy life and was deeply loved. A service will be held 2 p.m. today at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, with interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Welborne United Methodist Church.

WILLIAMS
James Wilson Williams, 80, of Gladstone, Va., died Thursday, February 1, 2001. He was the husband of Hazel Litchford Williams. He was an employee of the C&O Railroad for 44 years. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. WROBLEWSKI
Maria E. Wroblewski, age 47, died Friday, January 26, 2001. She was a native of Poland, a local resident of Richmond, Va., for seven years. She owned the European Deli in Richmond, Va. She is survived by her husband, W. Jan Wroblewski of Richmond; one son, Daniel Wroblewski of Richmond; parents, Stainislaw and Mieczyslawa Slowinski of Poland; one sister, Malgorzata Ketlinski of Holland; two brothers, Bogdan Solle of Poland and Jacek Solle of Richmond. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Bridget's Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226 by Rev. Albert Pinto. For those of you who act fast, your life will be short. If you look for the next morning at twelve noon, you will live only half of your life. By W. Jan Wroblewski.

ANDREWS
William "Bill" Hurlbert Andrews Jr., 81, of 2504 Stonemill Place departed this life on July 5, 2001 at his home in Richmond, Va. Mr. Andrews was born in Norfolk, Va., on January 23, 1920 and was the son of the late William Hurlbert and Betty Liverman Andrews. He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church, Ahoskie, N.C. and the former owner and operator of Quality Muffler and Brake Shop, Ahoskie, N.C. He was a former resident of Ahoskie, a Navy veteran of World War II and prior to moving to Richmond, Va., he was an active member of Beechwood Country Club in Ahoskie. Mr. Andrews was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Vivian Brinkley Andrews and is survived by four daughters, Betty Andrews Webb and husband, Dennis, Richmond, Va., Jane Andrews Washington and husband, Larry, Crystal River, Fla., Billie Andrews French, Norfolk, Va., LuAnne Andrews Moore and husband, Danny, Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Jeri Webb, Richmond, Va., Christopher M. French, Virginia Beach, Va., Monica French, New York City, N.Y., Jonathan French, Norfolk, Va., Gregory Moore, Scott Moore, Tommy Moore, all of Richmond, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Brittany Webb, Richmond, Va. A funeral service will be held at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, N.C. at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001 with Rev. J.N. Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in the Brinkley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001 and will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday prior to services. BERGH
Cora Routson Bergh, age 87, of Seaford, Del., died on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital of heart failure. Mrs. Bergh was a member of the Seaford Lioness Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, St. John's United Methodist Church and St. John's Mary Martha Circle. Her husband, Howard A. Bergh, died March 15, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Al Bergh of Seaford, and Brian Bergh of Williamsburg, Va.; one brother, John Routson of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 10, 1 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar Sts., Seaford. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del. Departed this life July 6, 2001, Kenneth E. Brockington. He is survived by his daughters, Bianca, Portia and Tiana; parents, Barnell and Aitha Brockington; two sisters, Helen Bates and her husband, George Jr., Janice Carter and her husband, Edward Jr.; brother, Stephen Brockington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, one devoted, Lisa Ballad. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. Rev. Ronald C. Taylor Sr. officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

CARRINGTON
Marian H. Carrington, age 75, of Burkeville, died Saturday, July 7, 2001. A native of Rice, Va., she was a daughter of the late Harry Hunter Hubbard and Estelle Wilson Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Carrington; and a sister, Janie H. Jones. She is survived by two sons, Norman H. Taylor Jr. of Crewe, and Gerald H. Taylor of Chester; a daughter, Carolyn T. Rogers of Clarksville, Va.; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mamie McClenney and Hilda Mahan, both of Rice, and Chesta Morrissette of Burkeville; a brother, Fielder Hubbard of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Mrs. Carrington was a retired clerk for the Town of Burkeville. She was a member of Burkeville Woman's Club and had served as it's President during the years of 1978 to 1982, 1984 to 1986 and 1988 to 1990. A member of Alice Kyle District, she served as Treasurer from 1980 to 1984 and Second Vice President from 1984 to 1986. She was a member of United Methodist Woman's Group and many other organizations and civic clubs. She was a member of the Ward's Chapel United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Rice, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burkeville Fire Dept., First Responders or the Ward's Chapel United Methodist Church.

CARTER
Louise Frances Carter, age 84, of Richmond, died Friday, July 6, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Norman T. and Edna H. Carter. She is survived by two sisters, Floyd C. Humphrey and Jean E. Carter; and one nephew, Norman T. Humphrey, all of Richmond. Miss Carter was a lifelong member of Pine Street Baptist Church. She was actively involved in the family business, Norman T. Carter Dry Goods and Notions, from its beginning in 1927 until it closed in 1993. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at Pine Street Baptist Church. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Properties Endowment Fund of Pine Street Baptist Church.

Departed this life July 5, 2001, Mr. Monta H. (Ta) Cook of 1622 Lone Street. He is survived by one son, Taylen Cook; mother, Bonnie Jones; father, Thomas J. Howard; devoted maternal grandmother, Grace Cook; six sisters, Lafon Cook, Antoinette and Maria Morgan, Linda Brown, Gloria Din and Brenda Lane; one nephew, Jerrell Trent; several aunts, among them, devoted Dorothy and Gloria Cook and Betty Lane; several uncles, among them, devoted Kenneth Cook; a host of cousins, two devoted, Telecia and Roosevelt Cook; a devoted brother-in-law, Carlton Lewis; other relatives and friends, among them, one devoted Erica Marion.
